A Learjet crashed while departing an airport in Columbia, S.C., killing four passengers and injuring two others including the former drummer of the band Blink-182, FAA spokesman Les Dorr told FOX News.

Preliminary reports indicate that Travis Barker, who was the drummer for the band Blink-182, was one of the two people hurt when the Learjet 60 crashed on a highway and caught fire. The plane was heading to Van Nuys, Calif.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash to determine probable cause.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She said the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.

Bergen didn't have the names of those killed and didn't know the conditions of the injured.

Blink-182, which had hits including "What's My Age Again?", broke up in 2005.

( They just said on Fox that his "critical condition" is due to burns )

Travis is an amazing drummer. IMHO, he is definitely one of the best.

I hope he is able to fully recover.

Oh. My gosh. That is the most painful kind of injury. I hope that he's sedated for his sake. Horrible. :(

Beth Frits, a spokesperson for the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, confirmed that AM (born Adam Goldstein) and Barker were transported to a hospital in Columbia, following the crash. They were transferred — AM by helicopter and Barker by ambulance — to the Still Center soon after.

Lexington County Deputy Coroner Brian Setree confirmed for MTV News on Saturday morning that three men and a woman were killed in the crash. Just after 10 a.m. Saturday, Setree identified two of the crash victims: the plane's pilot, Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim, California, and her co-pilot, James Bland, who was 52 and lived in Carlsbad, California. The National Transportation Safety Board has scheduled a press conference for 11:30 a.m., and more details are expected to be revealed at that time.

TMZ has learned Travis Barker has been burned from the waist down, but he is expected to survive the plane crash. DJ AM's face was severely burned and is being tended to right now.

We're also told the tragedy is all the worse because one of the passengers who died, Chris Baker, Travis' assistant on "Meet the Barkers," was married recently and has a new baby.

How weird is it that the two most popular/famous people survived?

Ah ok.

I figured you were insinuating that it was a conspiray of some sort.

That's horrible. He will be in for a tough fight dealing with the skin grafts.

What a waste he spent thousands of dollars on all of those tattoos.

Actually what better way to cover up the scars then get more tattoos? In all seriousness I'm a Blink187 fan this has ruined my day.

"Former" drummer of Blink-182? They didn't break up, they decided to take an "extended break" Mark Hoppus said.

Yea, this is horrible.

This is a life-transforming event, expecially if you're a celebrity and your success is very much dependent on you looks.

Think about it, is anyone going to wannu book this DJ a.m guy or travis if they've got a deformed face from the burn and shit? I've seen pictures of what it looks like, and man...

Sad, but true...probably

True story:

When I was 4 my mom actually had us scheduled to go on plane that crashed and killed all 14 people on it. Something came up at the last minute, and she had to re-schedule for another flight.

That would mostly hold true for no names, But with these 2 it will just make them bigger *if* they are disfigured badly and make a come back.

Thank God it's just from the waist down!
That would been a real waist of some perfectly fine tattoos.

He is a sik drummer. I remember some chick on my bus when they last toured Australia claimed she got the piece of his drumstick that said 'Travis'. Hope he can recover quickly.

Uh, that's not a given. Burn victims often pass away weeks or even months later, and infection is usually the culprit. Think of your skin as your body's castle walls against infection. Those have been badly breached.

Good luck to both young men. They have a long road to recovery ahead.

Read an article on yahoo. both are going to fully recover.

From what I gathered, their burns aren't that bad. They are being treated for 2nd and 3rd degree burns. It didn't say their was extensive damage done on either of them, so that's good.

A.M. was partially burned on his face and hands, Travis was burned on his torso.

Didn't really get much more specific than that as far as their injuries.

Pretty good news.

Good to hear. Must be more 2nd degree than 3rd degree burns. The quick guide is the percentage of 3rd degree burns on the body is your chances of dying.
