I'm not exactly a liberal, but I'd rather have McCain in office than Bush, by no wide margin.

I used to think McSame would be better, just like I used to respect McSame as a person and a politician. But over the last year I have come to conclude that he would govern essentially the same if elected. Which is why it is so crucial to not allow him to give us 4 more years of the same.

Oh, Gee!!

btw, which Bush would I have to choose from: the brand new, start from scratch Bush of 2000, or the current, bagged-his-limit, "let's try out this diplomacy thing for a change" 2008 Bush?

And clearly you've based this idea that things would be the same on all of McCain's glowing praise for Bush's economic policies, correct?

Hopefully President McCain would be more similar to Senator McCain than Presidential Candidate McCain.

Can't answer. I would have said McCain, but Palin speaks to all that is evil in the American character. She's an ideological end-road supported by a huge backwater of religious zombies and other neo-con trash. Her successful candidacy would basically confirm that half this country is insane. Thus far, it already has. I mean seriously, if you neo-cons aren't getting it by now, after Bush and with a candidate like Palin, when are you going to get it? It's fucking insane.

I don't see how her and McCain could fuck up more than Bush (though I doubt they'd do much better), but the very fact that a twin monster of Bush, a clueless and unprepared neo-con liar like Palin could get elected, is frightening. Considering the facts on the ground and the past 8 years of monumental incompetence, I worry more about the lowly ideological precedent her and McCain's successful candidacy would represent, more than the presidency itself.
