So it begins. I hope Landry stays with the Rockets but honestly, Morey has been playing hardball all along with the guy so I would understand if he bolts. The Bobcats are betting the Rockets would not have enough money to sign the guy so they probably offered a big amount of money for Landry. Now Landry finally has some negotiating power.

You won't find a bigger fan of Carl Landry than I (the Hoosier Connection). Still, he isn't ready to start in the NBA, even for Charlotte.

Landry is a beast. Incredible vertical leap and extremely high efficiency numbers for his PER. Good handle, and he can finish. Landry is an emerging NBA player and eventually the guy will become a starter.

Is good contract for Rockets. I see in Rockets board $9 million for 3 years and only 2 years $6 million is team liable with last year option. Even in Europe he can get much more then this. Is good deal for Rockets to match I think.

God forbid that the Spurs had insisted that he be included in the Scola trade...

Am I bitter? Oh, just a tad....

Yep. He also knows his limitations and has a history of playing well in a system/set offense.

Rockets are loaded at every position if Landry is signed. The only suspect position is at point guard with Rafer Alston/Brooks/Barry/Francis. They will resign Mutumbo next.

I looks at their roster. Point guard position and backups for center look very poor to me.

They don't need a playmaking PG, because thats what tmac does, and Deke did pretty ok last season :toast

Easy to say now, but I saw Landry as the only Purdue player at the time (2007 NCAA Tournament) with any shot at sticking with the pros. I am from Indiana, after all.

T-mac is not point guard. He create plays but he not point guard. He is just play maker in pick and roll. Alston is solid point guard but he shoot way to many shots and take so many bad shots.

In Greece he would be bench for season probably within few games. Never see player take so many stupid and bad shots as him. And also T-Mac is player take many stupid shots and bad shots and also he take way to many 3 point shots.

Rockets is good chance for championship and best team this year but none of these problems of terrible terrible shot selection by their guards will be solve until they gets real point guard. I have see about maybe 10 games of Brooks and he is just another midget SG.

Explanation of the PER stat below

What is PER?

http://assets.espn.go.com/i/columnists/Hollinger_John_55.jpg By John Hollinger

The Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a rating of a player's per-minute productivity.

To generate it, I created formulas -- which I outlined in tortuous detail in the book "Pro Basketball Forecast" -- that return a value for each of a player's accomplishments. That includes positive accomplishments, such as field goals, free throws, 3-pointers, assists, rebounds, blocks and steals, and negative ones, such as missed shots, turnovers and personal fouls.

Two important things to remember about PER is that it's per-minute and pace-adjusted.

It's a per-minute measure because that allows us to compare, say, T.J. Ford to Jose Calderon, even though there is a disparity in the minutes they played.

I also adjust each player's rating for his team's pace, so that players on a slow-paced team like Detroit aren't penalized just because their team's games have fewer possessions than those of a fast-paced team such as Golden State.

Bear in mind that this rating is not the final, once-and-for-all answer for a player's accomplishments during the season. This is especially true for players -- such as Bruce Bowen and Jason Collins -- who are defensive specialists but don't get many blocks or steals.

What PER can do, however, is summarize a player's statistical accomplishments in a single number. That allows us to unify the disparate data on each player that we try to track in our heads (e.g., Corey Maggette: free-throw machine, good rebounder, decent shooter, poor passer, etc.) so that we can move on to evaluating what might be missing from the stats.

I set the league average in PER to 15.00 every season.
Among players who played at least 500 minutes in 2006-07, the highest rating was Dwyane Wade's 29.04. The lowest was Collins's 3.02.

I dunno, I think David Teague might have a shot once he gets some more experience in the D-League.

Only problem with the PER is landry plays 17 minutes per game... if he played starters minutes i would guess his numbers would be between 16-18... Still solid.

I dunno, I think David Teague might have a shot once he gets some more experience in the D-League.

He was in Greek League last year on AEL team. AEL record in league 11-15 and they miss playoffs.

Teague have

23.2 MPG

41.6 FG%
32.5 3 PT%
78.6 FT%

9.7 PPG
3.5 RPG
0.7 APG
0.7 SPG
0.0 BPG
1.2 TPG
3.7 FPG

OK year I guess but nothing so good.

A little more than what I thought he was worth, but since the third year is a team option I can live with it. :clap:clap

i think there are 95% of chance that the rockets will match the offer .

Landry is definitely a 4M worth player. even overrated Turiaff can get 4.25M . but now , rockets have a chance to sign him for only 3M , good deal .

in fact, Bobcats are helping the rockets to get the deal set .
