How well do the Spurs have to be until Manu returns? We don't want to run Tim and Tony into the ground early on. We don't want Manu back until he's 100%. That said, can the Spurs afford to fall too far back in the West? I'd be happy with 50% until Manu returns.

I honestly hope Manu misses time..I'd rather him come back healthy and full of energy for the playoffs..January would be good IMO..I wouldn't mind it..

the West isn't going to be as good as last year IMO..Golden State is going to be terrible, Denver is going to be worse..Portland is a ?..Duncan and Parker with our role players is enough to make it into the playoffs, and as long as we avoid the 7th or 8th seed when Manu comes back(which we should), then I'd be fine with our playoff seed..

I'm gonna enjoy(hopefully) seeing what RMJ, Hill, Stoudamire and the rest of our new guys can give us with Manu out..I also hope Tony can elevate his game 1 more level, he's still young enough to do it..

I dont think our problems are with Manu being hurt or when he comes back. I dont see Timmy getting much help from Fab,Kurt or Ian. We got killed in the paint during last season and especially in the playoffs. Timmy cant do it alone and, with noone to rely on Timmy will be hung out to dry like last season unless we find another big. All our new guys are smalls, what good does that do for Timmy except pass the ball out when he gets doubled. And make no mistake the NBA doesnt fear Fab or Kurt so expect teams doubling Timmy every game.

Yeah, thanks for the hijack, Mrs. Spurs. You couldn't start your own thread?

I think the Spurs will lose their season opener, unless Mason get's major minutes(25-28) and hecan perform close to what he did as a starter on the Wizards.

12-8 or 11-9, still a few games above .500 which is pretty good considering the circumstances.

Manu's probably out until at least until 12/9, I don't think he'll come back until January. Spurs should be able to hold their own at home but on the road, I think it's going to be rough.

I think they will be 15-5. Parker and Duncan will take the load till Manu comes back.

it's too early to say, too many question marks, but right now i'd say 12 or 13 wins would be worst case unless roger mason sucks and finley is starting.

I see Pop giving lots of minutes to the new/young guys early this season. The Spurs should struggle. But I'm going counter-intuitive on this one. 14-6. I hope Manu is held out of the first 30 games. Let Mason have a bunch of burn and make sure Manu is healthy.

It's been a lousy off season, and the competition is fierce (which is why the off season seems so underwhelming), but I think this team is better than last season's squad. Mason is an upgrade over Finley, and a better defender. Between Hill and Stoudamire, the Spurs should find more offense at second point. Udoka and Thomas should know the system better.

And, this is conjecture, but I think the Spurs have some sort of modest trade in the works. Otherwise, how do you account for the odd ball roster? But if Tolliver and Stoudamire looks serviceable during camp, we've seen the last of Bonner and Vaughn. Or maybe we'll just see one of them waived.

No Manu for 20+ games can only make this team a little worse in these games but better in future games.
