Chicago 8, Detroit 2

As a Detroit Tigers' fan, part of me wanted to see them crush Chicago out of sheer principle. However, you have to keep your eyes on the prize. Any fan of an AL Central team can agree on one thing:

Minnesota Twins Delenda Est!

Thome finally breaks the scoreless tie with a solo HR in the bottom of the 7th inning. Blackburn is still in there for the Twins.

The Twins have ONE hit.

It looks like A.J. Alphabet is about to break this wide open...

Mijares in for Blackburn.

Mijares in for Blackburn.

Mijares is trying to pitch around Pierzynski. He's about to load the bases with one out (Konerko of course).

EDIT: Alphabet doesn't lay off of Ball Three, and he grounded out weakly. Anderson to 3B, Ramirez to 2B. Uribe promptly kills the rally by swinging from his heels.

Danks is pitching the game of his career. Thus far, two hits and four Ks through eight innings. This is Ozzie, so he may go the distance.

Here comes the top of the Chicago order: 1) Cabrera; 2) Wise; and 3) Dye.

Why the fuck are the white sox getting this game at home? They were 8-10 against the Twins this year. The tie breaker should have prevented this game or at least given the Twins this game at the Dome. This makes no sense at all. Such bullshit.

Joe Nathan in for Mijares: Nathan gives up a 2-out single to Dye.

EDIT: Thome flies out to end the 8th inning. The Twins are down to their final three outs, to use a cliche.

Big Bobby Jenks in for the save.

well the white sox arent getting anywhere near the world series this year. Angels/Sox will rep the AL.

LMAO @ Ernie Johnson calling this the lowest scoring tiebreaker game in MLB history. Duh... it was 1-0.

Their pitching staff was all banged up before playing Monday and Tuesday. Buerhle and Danks have now pitched on short rest already. Tampa should dispatch the White Sox fairly easily.

Chicago Hitting v. Tampa Pitching = .250 BA, .318 OBP, .416 SLG, .733 OPS
Tampa Hitting v. Chicago Pitching = .236 BA, .294 OBP, .373 SLG, .667 OPS

Regular Season Record 4-6 (Tampa). Ironically, the White Sox outscored Tampa in their season series. The White Sox had three blowout wins; three of the six Tampa wins were by one run, and another was by two. The Sox did most of their damage to Tampa while they were playing well in the first half of the season.

I can't stand the Twins: 4 out of the last six divisional championships with the MLB equivalent of the Bad News Bears.

They used to mildly annoy me in the AL West. After the 1998 realignment when Detroit moved to the AL Central, I have really grown to hate them.

The 1998 realignment was not kind to me. It put my two favorite AL teams (Chicago and Detroit) in the same division. Not cool. :nope
