Spurs had 32 pts in first half, which at the time, I thought they had regressed and morphed into the 03-04 team that had some horrible scoring nights, but they played the 2nd half like the Mavs, Kings and Suns on offense and that is why this team is so much better than any Spurs team in history. They can still shut down teams when they have to, but on the other hand, they can flat outscore teams also, and that has never been a Spurs' quality.

I taped the game and watched it late last night, not knowing the score and I thought the Spurs were going to lose because I was thinking that the team still had the old can't score weakness, but I will never doubt them again this year....they were awesome offensively tonight(2nd half)

Why did Rasho play only 12 minutes?

"they played the 2nd half like the Mavs, Kings and Suns on offense"

.... and like them on defense (3rd qtr). :)

After all the gnashing of teeth, calling out, butt-chewing, ass-kicking that suppposedly went on in the Spurs locker room at halftime, the defense still allowed 31 pts in the 3rd (vs Spurs 32 pts in 1st half), as the Spurs got into a nice hole of -12 to start the 4th.

Vince was really the Spurs' best player last night. His self-inflicted ejection killed the Nets otherwise moribund offense that had the Spurs solidly beat through 36 minutes, and inspired the Spurs to go looking for their balls, (instead of quaking in their sneakers at Vince's show). They found them.

The ejection really hurt the Nets, but the Spurs had changed the momentum of the game when he went out. The Spurs had gone with their small lineup down by 12 to start the 4th with Malik at Center plus TP, Manu, Brent, and Bruce together on the floor. Malik scored, TP made a couple of steals, Manu nailed a 3, TP made an uptempo layup "and 1" and all the Nets could muster was a defensive 3-sec. single FT by Vince Carter. The Spurs had decided to play defense, finally, and really grabbed the reigns with an 8-1 run when Vince missed his shot and went after Bruce.

The game was different with that small lineup, with or without Vince. Just like it changed the game in PHX. It would have been nice to see how it played out with Vince still in there taking shots. Of course, it would have been even nicer if the Spurs had played more inspired in the first half.
