Sideways hate wearing idiot needs to reevaluate his life...

They are doing a great job promoting Nog and he really seems to enjoy this. This must be killing some old time pride only fanboys who used to cry about TUF. Although I guess Griffin may have already sent them over.

Interesting. Problem is i guess that since so many of these guys are unknown that are fighting you need 2 coaches that are stars and hate eachother going at it. That is actually what got me back into MMA. TUF 3. I had not seen much of it in a few years. Last i had heard Tito, my fav fighter was gone from the UFC for good. Then one night, just surfing through the channels, they are 10 min into the premiere of TUF 3, with Tito and Ken. Now that got my attention real quick. Was a great season and have been back into MMA ever since. Mir and Nog don't have much heat going for them, they are not huge MMA stars. Put Penn in there with GSP and you'd likely get some nice ratings. I think it all comes down to the heat between the coaches and their star power to suck the average Joe in.

If I were Krzysztof Soszynski or Ryan Bader, I would have asked Dana after his stupid decision to keep Junie on the show: "Hey Dana, if Junie puts his hands on me again and provokes me and I waste his ass, do I get a free pass too?"

I would have loved hear Dana's answer for that one.

I would think Spike would want Junie out for liability reasons. I could see a stabbing or glass bottle to the face happening at some point with him in the house.

I think Junie was lucky to get a 2nd chance. But I think he is just too much and a major distraction for the guys to who really want to accomplish something there. It is clear he is not serious about being in the UFC. And if he did stay and win could you imagine what he would do in Vegas?? See Jess Taylor. Junie is an even bigger douche than him.

i disagree, its a smart move to leave the alc. i thought he gave a great explanation, something like this "we give you guys alcohol because you guys are grown men, if you want to relax, you can. its also a good way to see who the retards are."

and its true, at the end of the day they are all men who are trying to become professionals, if theyre still in the drunkard phase they shouldnt be there.

Krzysztof Soszynski's blog on sherdog, its a pretty good read. he mentions how if another housemate puts his hands on him wthout his consent hes not afraid of fighting back because he wont get kicked off.

after reading his comments, im sure the other fighters feel that way too, that mentality plus junie jumping into the octagon probably isnt what dana was hoping for when he decided to be the nice guy.

My point is that Dana doesn't care if they act like "retards" despite whatever speech he gives. I he truly wanted them to straighten up, he'd pull the alcohol. Professional athletes shouldn't need an endless supply anyway. In the past some fighters have complained that it took 3 days to get a certain food but if they needed alcohol it was brought to them immediately.

Curious to see if the ratings are any better...

and if Junie is a badass it won't matter what he does (I thought he was the "next Anderson Silva" unless Dana was referring to somebody else?). He won't get the Jesse treatment if that's the case...

Agreed but they want these guys to get smashed and cause problems in the house. They have no TV, no Radio, can't make any phone calls, no real form of entertainment but they provide them with plenty of boos. Of course if i were there, i'd be just drinking plenty of water, eating my meals, getting my rest and fighting my fights. That is what you are there for, i'm just saying they want these guys to get wasted and they know the weaker minded ones will do that.

djohn14
10-09-2008, 09:22 PM
Bottom line....that type of stuff draws ratings. It certainly makes mediocre MMA fans want to watch. We watch it because we want to see who will be TUF, and the future of the UFC. Other folks...well thats what they want to see. I think I read this in a previous post, and I totally agree with it...it wouldnt shock me if Spike TV is behind letting Junie stay because they know when crazy rediculous stupid ignorant things happen, people will watch.

LOL,

Yeah and after seeing that show, i am convinced that Junie is either trying to get tossed off the show or he just flat out has a chemical imbalance and is fucked in the head. Dana rips into him about his antics the night before but lets him stay yet it looked like later in that same afternoon he is starting shit with someone else saying "Get up try and submit me". Jumping into the octagon after the fight was over to start some more shit was just comical. So i am going with, trying to get tossed off or just incapable of controlling himself.

LOL I see what he was trying to do and see that he cares but when you seperate fighters in "teams". A lot of guys see Nog coming in trying to talk to them as "why are you trying to lecture us". All the respect I would have for him, if I was on team MIR I know I would be thinking that. Your not my coach so I don't have to listen to you.

there should be equal respect for both coaches at the very least. given nog's reputation, when he talks you have to listen. i didnt like the disrepectfulness displayed when nog was trying to talk.

i didnt like the disrepectfulness displayed when nog was trying to talk.

Neither did i but a lot of these guys that come to the TUF house are arrogant clowns. Like they already made it by being on the show. Dana says all the time, "TUF is really a tryout to see who belongs in the UFC, if anyone" For those guys to not respect Nog, is pathetic.

"Junie its fun hit him!"

-fights over...why 3 rounds?

And this is why Junie wasn't kicked off IMO

1. Is young
2. He has incredible skills
3. He is a idiot but heels are good for all sports. Fans love to hate heels. How boring would sports be without heels?
4. Good forward kicks
5. Cardio
6. Combinations
7. Fearless
8. Good chin
9. Affliction or whoever would have instantly made him their blue chip prospect
10. Someone showed him some Muay Thai (but elbow free?)
11. He certainly has a boxing back ground. I wonder if he has some amateur boxing fights
12. Great balance

He would beat Noons <---- yeah I am sticking to that.

Whats not to love?!

haha

Good episode this is a good season. Junie looked alright, he needs a lot of work though. He had a guy in front of him that had god awful stand-up and had no power or athletic ability to get the takedown and he could not KO him. But Junie is talented, and at only 23 has a lot of upside. Just needs to keep his head together and not blow it.

Delgado's does have a great chin, but his lack of power and aggressiveness cost him that fight. Junie was clearly gassed and Delgado did not take advantage. Even though his shots are not powerful he could have came with some body shots to try and bring him down.

From what i saw in Junie's tryout match, his ground game is pretty solid. He has the tools to be a UFC fighter, he's only 23. I hope he is not a head-case the rest of the show and just fights.

I think most people want him to get his head straight because he has potential to be a good fighter, but at the same time we want to see him get his ass kicked to shut his mouth. This past Wednesday's episode of "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir," which featured controversial cast member Junie Browning's quarterfinal fight with Roli Delgado, scored 1.7 million viewers, an increase of nine percent from the season's first five episodes.

Additionally, the Oct. 22 episode had an audience 35 percent larger than the season low of 1.1 million that tuned in for the third episode of the reality series on Oct. 1.

With the recent ratings revival, in doubt aided by the antics of Browning, the eighth season of the show is now averaging 1.6 million weekly viewers.

I'm not sure how much control he has now. 100 Million UFC/Spike contract probably gave Spike full control of in house production.

And by the sounds of it Spike decided it would be USA vs UK for the next TUF.

Maybe send them out to a desolate area where they chop wood for their own heat and have to fetch their own drinking water and they have to harvest their own food from already grown crops. Maybe Spike just provides them with meat. Total Rocky 4 action. Make these guys suffer.

Kid (Phillipe) looks sharp, he really moves well and his punches were very accurate. I have to agree that this was the most disgusting bit of reality TV Ive seen. I wonder if it is all just for the show, I mean would they really let them eat piss or "special sauce"??

Could be just for show like my theory about Junie.

$100 says they didn't really drink tinkle or junk juice.

I bet someone switched it out behind the scenes.

Oh, Pretty Big College Basketball fan, and followed Duncan's career pretty closely at Wake, he was the best player in college, probably one of the best ever in College and he played 4 years, so he was a big deal coming out.. So when he was drafted i immediately followed him to the NBA and became a Spurs fan. I love the team as a whole now and will root for them long after Timmy Retires.. MMA just loved it on and off for years but really got into it heavily after The Ultimate Fighter got in gear..

How about you Evan??

I used to waste time doing some small time mma blog (that is gone now) a year and a half ago as a hobby and quit once it turned into a part time job stress and time wise. Its a beating to do anything with a blog. Takes so much time.

Leonard linked a story I wrote and I tracked the link back here.

As far as blogs go...I have so much respect for Zach Arnold for the incredible work he does running fightopinion. http://www.fightopinion.com/

he is not a pro writer
nobody hired him
not a blog network
he is unbiased
and he is not working for a org like some other sites

Its the best true blog in MMA and if I could write half as good as him I might still be doing it. He has some light contributors but its almost all him.

As far as ST....I don't even like basketball much. Honestly if the NBA was gone tomorrow I wouldn't notice. I don't dislike it, just not my thing.

That's where the show goes a little too far. With that size difference and no gloves, it is a miracle he did not get his jaw broke..

That was the slowest most telegraphed arm bar I have ever seen.

I haven't been blown away by most of these prospects on the show. With the exception of just a few they are really one trick ponies.. Decent striking with no ground game or the opposite..

I dont think we have been able to see what Kristoff could really do yet. That Brazilian guy has some good Ju-Jitsu. I like those 2 right now. Junie is a joke. That little hispanic kid has promise, I forget his name. Yeah that shot to the face was nasty hahaa. He got knocked the fuck out!!

Well they hyped him as a headcase as well as a good fighter and for a prospect he has tools. He can strike, he has a pretty good ground game, he iis much more talented than most of the guys in that house.. He needs work on his cardio, that was a factor in that fight..

Also dont argue with me ever again :lol

Yeah but Cardio is vital and it almost cost him. I think he might be a bit over rated but yes I dont deny he has the tools. Shit most of the people on the show have the tools or they wouldnt have made the show.
