Anyone here been to Ruidoso in New Mexico? My wife really wants to go, and I haven't been.

Would I be able to ski if I went next March? I wasn't sure when there would not be any snow. Thanks

Ive got family in that area and have skied there a few times so ill weigh in. I doubt there will be any snow in March unless there is a big rare late storm. I was there 2 years ago for Christmas and there was hardly any snow even on top of the mountain (none in town). It's not like Colorado where there will always be good snow for 4 months a year. They will make snow at ski apache but its not the same as the real stuff.

Have you ever been to Tahoe? Will there be snow in March? Thanks

We have been to Ruidose twice. It is fricking cool but the skiing just fukin sucks ass.

If you are a beginner, then okay, you can get some lessons and enjoy a day out there but dude, if you've skied in colorado or utah, you will not like that place.

March is pushing the ski time there. It will be to hot during the day.

Tahoe is cool also in the Winter, but March is pushing it... but damn.. Tahoe is so fricking cool and Reno is right next door. Those are 2 good options, but if you want to ski, go to colorado or utah in february...

We've gone to Winterpark, Colorado several times for spring break and it was blizzard conditions which is so fukin cool for skiing...

good luck.

btw, there are kick ass cabins in ruidoso, i know some, so if you're interested i can send you some links...

Never Tahoe but I did go to Park City, utah once in march and even there it was in the upper 40s and the slopes were very icy. However it did snow 10 inches right after we left. I guess it really comes down to a little luck and checking the forecasts before you go.

I recommend not going to the casino there. I forget the name, but I will never forget how they charged full price for drinks while gaming and the ATM fee was either $10 or $15.

I would reiterate what was said about going to the other places like Tahoe or Colorado. The only good thing about Ruidoso is how close it is.

Its called Inn of the Mountain Gods and I've never been charged for (soft) drinks while gaming. What sucks is that you that you can't drink alcohol while your gambling. You have to go to the bar that's away from the card tables and slot machines.

The Inn of the Mountain Gods is a beautiful place to stay. Wonderful restaurants and a nice theater with big name concerts. But definitely stay away from their casino for all the reasons mentioned above!

that was it.....Inn of the Mountain Gods.....

I gotta admit, it's been more than 10 years since I was there, so maybe things have changed some, but I just know I'll never step foot in that casino again....

in fact, I have no real reason to go to Ruidoso ever again.

Now if you are into that area 51 type stuff, if you plan on getting there by going way of the Texas panhandle, you will pass through Roswell and you can get all the alien keychains, T-shirts and glow in the dark belt buckles you will ever need there.

Inn of the Mountain Gods has a ridiculously awesome golf course. Lightning greens, beautiful course.

Yeah, I pass through Roswell on my way over to Ruidoso and there all kinds of businesses that profit off of the whole alien thing.

The street lights on Main Street are in the shape of alien heads. The whole damn town exists to sell alien trinkets to tourists. Hell, even Price's truck stop has an alien souveneir section.
