"That didn't have a great effect on me personally, because I was already mentally ready for this change. But I think seeing the Olympics allowed other people who maybe didn't know before to see the level of basketball here and see that it's very, very high. That, obviously, was a good thing for basketball."
He has say similar thing already when ask about level of Greek league he so so far and say "It is surprise to me how strong the teams and defense are here."
NBA fans can keep believe these myth how poor basketball is for Europe?

History
Souvlaki is attested in Greece since antiquity and it was known with the name οβελίσκος (obeliskos)[1], dim. of όβελος (obelos), "spit"[2], mentioned amongst others in the works of Aristophanes ("Acharnians" 1007, "Clouds" 178, "Wasps" 354, "Birds" 388, 672), Xenophon ("Hellenica" HG3.3.7), Aristotle ("Politics" 1324b19), etc.

The history of souvlaki
Although the origins of the gyros are lost in the mists of time, there is no doubt about the souvlaki. The souvlaki first appeared in ancient Greece, as proved by a recipe from that time. The dish was called “kandaulos” and combined grilled meat, pita, cheese and dill (Athenaeus, The Deipnosophists, 12, 516d).
Many centuries later we find references to street vendors selling souvlakia with pita in Constantinople, the capital of Byzantium.

You're missing the point.
Wherever a dish originated means nothing to whether or not it's considered local cuisine.
Which still makes souvlaki more Greek than Comcast-boy ever will be.

Technically, Argentina is number one. But it's a freaking stupid ranking system. I looked up the reason for why the USA in number two after winning gold.
As I understand it, the FIBA rankings operate on an 8 year cycle. After the 2008 Olympics, the 2000 Sydney results were dropped. Prior to Beijing, the rankings were calculated using the results from Sydney in 2000, the 2002 WC, Athens in 2004, and the 2006 WC. After Beijing, the Sydney results were dropped and the rankings began with the 2002 WC and ended with 2008 Beijing. The points for the US remained unchanged because the US won gold in both Sydney and Beijing, but the Argentinians gained points because they took bronze in Beijing, but failed to qualify for Sydney. So, the US gained nothing as it simply swapped a gold for a gold, but the Argentinians got to drop a bad result and replace it with a bronze.
It's a stupid way of compiling a ranking because realistically, what a national team did 8 years ago has no effect on how good it is now (case in point, Argentina being ranked No. 1 by FIBA now, but failing to qualify for the Olympics 8 years ago), but that's how it is done. FIBA explains the rankings on its website, but it is not the most easily understood explanation in the world.
