Theodore was a Hart a Vezina in 2002 when he was playing here in Montreal, but since his off-ice issues (Dad and Uncles dealing with the Mob, cheating on his pregnant GF with Paris hilton), he's not the same.

I'm not saying his signing will solve all the issues, not to mention you guys lost McCabe and Tucker, but the East is wide open, and you still have guys like Kaberle and Blake.

Huet is more consistent than Theo.

Remember, his good perfs in Montreal were the reason why Canadiens traded Theodore to Colorado.

If Ovie doesn't get the gpaltending he deserves, you can forget about the playoffs

To be fair, Red Wings were not at their best; plus, I think they came back from a long road trip, they looked tired outthere.

That's a bad game for Wings, and it happens sometimes, nothing wrong with that.

IMO, Red Wings are still the best team in the NHL

Bergeron leaves game after collision with Seidenberg; status unknown

BOSTON -- Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron, who missed most of last season with a concussion, left Saturday's game against Carolina in the second period after a collision with the Hurricanes' Dennis Seidenberg.

Bergeron went down face-first on the ice after finishing a check on Seidenberg as he was dumping the puck into the Boston zone. Bergeron was down and attended to for several minutes before looking wobbly when he got to his skates and was helped to the locker room.

The injury appeared to be to Bergeron's head or neck.

"The doctors have been looking at it. They haven't given us any indication as far as the severity of it," Bruins coach Claude Julien said after his team finished off a 4-2 victory over the Hurricanes. "Obviously, he went down a little dazed. We're not able to give you a verdict. That's all I can tell you about that situation."

Asked if he thought Bergeron sustained another concussion, the coach said, "They haven't told me. We've asked and they haven't diagnosed it yet."

Julien said he spoke to Bergeron after the second period and added the player was alert.

"He got dinged pretty good," Julien said. "He was speaking to me and then I took off and coached the third period."

Bergeron's 2007-08 season ended after 10 games. He was hit from behind into the boards by Philadelphia's Randy Jones on Oct. 27, 2007, and missed the rest of the regular season and the playoffs with a concussion and accompanying problems.

He was close to returning in the postseason, but the Bruins were eliminated in seven games in the first round of the playoffs by the Montreal Canadiens.

Bergeron returned for training camp and had played in 30 of Boston's first 31 games before Saturday. He was playing well but was having trouble regaining his old scoring touch, scoring just four goals, one in his last 18 games before Saturday.

Bergeron's teammates clearly showed their concern after the game.

"Obviously, maybe a little more so because it's Bergy, but if any of your teammates are lying on the ground like that, all you're thinking is 'I hope he's alright,'" said Stephane Yelle. "When he got up and skated off on his own two feet, it was good to see."

Added goalie Manny Fernandez: "We know what's at stake and our prayers are with him, that's for sure. We hate to see a guy like that go down again."

BOSTON -- Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron, who missed most of last season with a concussion, was released from the hospital Sunday after being diagnosed with another concussion.

Bergeron
Bergeron spent the night at Massachusetts General Hospital and underwent extensive testing, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said in a statement. Bergeron was placed on injured reserve, meaning he is out of action for a minimum of one week.

"When examined this morning, his condition had improved greatly over last night, and he was released from the hospital," the statement said. "There is no timetable for his return to the ice."

Bergeron was injured in Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Bergeron collided near center ice with Carolina's Dennis Seidenberg and went to the ice, face-first. He remained down for several minutes while he was cared for by doctors and looked wobbly when he got to his skates and was helped to the locker room.

"He got dinged pretty good," said Bruins coach Claude Julien, who spoke to Bergeron after the second period. "He was speaking to me and then I took off and coached the third period."

Bergeron's 2007-08 season ended after 10 games following a hit from behind into the boards by Philadelphia's Randy Jones. He was close to returning during the playoffs, but the Bruins were eliminated in seven games in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens.

Bergeron returned for training camp and played in 30 of Boston's first 31 games. But he had yet to regain his scoring touch, totaling four goals -- one in his last 19 games.

His teammates went to St. Louis to play the Blues on Sunday night, but their thoughts were with Bergeron.

"We know what's at stake and our prayers are with him, that's for sure," goalie Manny Fernandez said Saturday. "We hate to see a guy like that go down again."

We took a lot of dumb penalties.

However, I think that despite the rivalry, it was a meaningless game considering both teams were missing key players.

Montreal: Koivu, Higgins, Tanguay, Carey Price, Laraque

The Rangers have changed coaches since Avery last suited up for them. Tom Renney was fired last week and replaced by Tortorella, who, while working for Canadian television, rebuked Avery at the time of his suspension.

"Enough is enough," Tortorella said then. "He's embarrassed himself, he's embarrassed the [Stars'] organization, he's embarrassed the league and he's embarrassed his teammates, who have to look out for him. Send him home. He doesn't belong in the league."

Next season or in 2 years.

I think they can win it all IF they do not meet the Bruins along the way. The Caps always have trouble with Boston and it was Alexander Semin with that wicked goal.

If the Habs meet the Bruins in the playoffs, then you won't have to worry about Boston.

the B's are way ahead of us in the standings, but we own them in the playoffs.

Even in 2002 and 2004, with the 8th and 7th seeds respectively, we kicked them out (and they had Thornton)

Congratulations to Martin Brodeur for gettting win #552 last night, making him the NHL's all time winningest goaltender. He did it in 42 less games than it took Patrick Roy to be the former holder of that title. :toast
Anyone see another goalie coming down the road in the future to take the crown away from Marty?

Marty tied Roy's record in Montreal on Saturday with win 551.

Perfect scenario:

- Roy won 2 Stanley Cups with Montreal; Roy was there to congratulate him; classy:toast

- Brodeur is from Montreal :hat

- he received a great standing ovation feom the Montreal crowd :toast

- his father, Denis Brodeur, is a former photographer for the Montreal Canadiens; he was in the Bell taking pictures of win 551 :hat

- Fuck the Habs for not being motivated to spoil the party; no show :lol

FWIW, Patrick Roy has more shutout wins than Marty
He also has 1 more cup :D

Now to answer your question:

- Luongo can have a shot at the record, IF he can stay healthy :bang

- a young goaltender named Steve Mason is making noise in the NHL :wow

- a young Montreal Canadien....no, not Carey Price, but Jaroslav Halak :toast

Not for long. Brodeur is only 10 or so shy of taking over the #1 all time list in shutouts as well.

If you include Marty's playoff stats, hes #1 by a wide margin.

I think if San Jose beats Detroit in the playoffs, New jersey will win the Cup. Just my opinion.

Interesting; I think too that NJ has a chance to win it as long as they don't meet the Red Wings

Devils are great this year; Zach Parise has exploded, the team has found a way to win a lot of games while Brodeur was injured, and they brought back Shanahan, an additional scorer who knows the culture of the franchise
Heck, he scored a lovely goal in his 1st game back with NJ
And now Brody is back....

You really think so? Dont get me wrong, Ive seen him play a few times (outside of playing Detroit) and have come away impressed.

But this Mason kid (as you well know) is just dominating. Theyre both big goaltenders, take up a lot of space, both are extremely quick. But Mason just wins more, I guess.

I know thats more a product of having a better team (who knew Columbus would be better than Nashville?), but IDK, I'd kill for either as a Wings fan.

I do think so. Rinne faces more shots and has a weaker offense in front of him. Mason has 5 more wins, but he also has started 11 more games. Rinne also has 7 shutouts, only 2 less than Mason.

Why does Versus use the channels TSN and CBC for hockey playoff games? Some of the games on Versus are done by the announcers of the channel and they use the graphics of Versus but then there are some playoff games that are announced by the announcers of CBC and TSN and they use the graphics of those channels. My parents tell me "back in the day" stories when TV used to shut off after Ed Sullivan, etc. You got 4 channels back then. NBC, CBS, ABC and channel 9 was CBC.

I grew up Don Cherry and Ron McLean on my television on Saturday Nights. I actually prefer watching the Canadian broadcast.

I went to Canada and was watching TSN in a bar. I didnt want to leave. I envy a channel that pays that much attention to hockey, day in and day out, all year long. *sigh*

1.Boston vs 8.Montreal: Habs in 7. Dont know why, Habs have Boston's number and vice versa. Just a guaranteed good series.

2.Washington vs. 7.New York Rangers: Washington in 5. The Rags are fragile and they pay two mediocre centers $7+ million a year. They deserve to lose for those contracts alone. Lundqvist is the only reason they win a game. AO will be quiet on the goal front all series, but it wont matter in the least.

3.New Jersey vs. 6.Carolina: NJ in 6. Carolina is the hottest team in the East right now and New Jersey floated into the playoffs. Doesnt matter. New Jersey is a winning organization with the most accomplished goaltender in history who just came off the longest injury break of his career. Hes rested, focused and almost unstoppable. Should be a good series.

4.Pittsburgh vs 5.Philadelphia: Flyers in 7. This is going to be a great series to watch...unless youre a fan of either team. There Will be Blood. What a brutal series. Awesome. I just think Philly will win, but its a coin toss.

--------------

1.San Jose vs. Anaheim: SJ in 6. Anaheim got the worst luck drawing SJ. bet they wish they were playing the Wings. Oh well, another brutal series that sadly, wont be as close as its East counterpart. Anaheim falls, nonetheless.

2.Detroit vs. 7.Columbus: No predictions. No jinx. Its a tradition I have.

3.Vancouver vs 6.St Louis: Blues in 6. Blues are a very underrated team. Decimated by injuries all year long, 15th place in the conference when the calendar struck 2009. Roar back all the way to 6th in less than 35 games. Amazing. Vancouver is overrated, IMO. Luongo is the best goalie in the league, but hasnt had much playoff success (admittedly, he hasnt had many chances...this is his best so far).

4. Chicago vs. 5.Calgary: Hawks in 5. Calgary is a disjointed team who has literally gone from division leader to choke artist in less than a month. Chicago has rebounded from a so-so late March into April. Chicago is going to crush them in the first three games, IMO. Kipper isnt the goalie we know and love/hate. Maybe playing 70+ games a year has something to do with that.....naaaah, couldnt be. Oh yeah, Camalerri is going to fall to earth just as fast as his rise. Bertuzzi is useless. Iginla is the man. The defense is good, not great. With Keenan at the helm, I wouldnt be surprised to see Kipper pulled in this series early just because Mike is a Moron. The real question for Chicago in this series, and a real playoff learning experience for them is, how do they handle Calgary gooning it up when theyre down? Chicago is going to roll them, IMO, but they wont be the same team afterwards. They'll either be tougher for it or injured. Im betting injured.

You should live in Canada man;you would be the new "Bob McKenzie"; lot of good points

Bruins - Habs: yes, we do have the mental edge, but Markov is listed a day-to-day; we can beat the Bruins, but I like our chances better with Markov. Nevertheless, should fun to watch, great rivalry, and we almost beat them last week in Boston; it's a good thing Price finally woke the fuck up.

If Markov can play at least 2 games in this series: Habs in 7
If not, Bruins in 6

Pens-Flyers: another great rivalry; 7 games, but very hard to say who is gonna win; Philapdelphia was built for the playoffs, and they have been in playoff mode lately; but Pittsburgh has picked up Guerin and Kunitz, adding scoring, grit and championship experience.

Aaargh.......Flyers in 7.

Devils - Canes: again, hard to tell; Devils have been great overall, Parise has had a career year and the addition of Shanahan during the season was a great move; however, Carolina has been hotter as of late, trading for Eric Cole before the deadline; Cole won the cup in 2006 with the Canes, and his team has been en fuego since he came back; plus, Brind'amour is a clutch performer; it's hard to go against teams that have momentum,

BUT Brodeur will rise to the occasion; Devils in 7

Vouashigneutone - Rangers: Washington is very talented offensively, but their blue line and their goaltending suck major donkey ass.
Drury may miss game 1, so Caps have to take advantadge.

Rangers in 6-7

Wings vs Columbus: Wings in 5....... no wait !
Osgood has been sucking as of late, and Mason can be a show stopper

Wings in 7.
(It's a good thing Wings are not playing the Predators :D )

Sharks vs Anaheim: San Jose is the better team, but Thornton and Marleau are not playoff legends; Anaheim is big team and they will play tough.

Sharks in 7

Vancouver vs St-Louis: hard to figure; Vancouver seems to be a well balanced team, but Luongo has been so-so this season.
The Blues have been the hottest team in the NHL over the last 2 months; really impressive.

Because Canucks have home ice to bail them out, Vancouver in 7.

Flames vs Hawks: I somewhat agree with you Darkreign, but Hawks are a young team, and experience will be a factor.
It's true that Keenan won't think twice before pulling Kipper out, and that the Falmes are not 100% healthy.
However, I remember a depleted Montreal team easily beating the Hawks about a month ago.

Flames in 6-7

Fing Flyers........they looked like they weren't even trying to win.

They better play better tomorrow.

Flyers fans are awesome.

Second, dont worry about the Flyers. They backed into the playoffs more or less and theyre playing in hostile territory in the first game of a 7 game series. They might even lose game 2 (i doubt it, but maybe), but theyre going to make the Pens pay for it in blood and broken bones.

I mean, Hartnell alone is going to put a couple Pens out of the series before its all said and done. Get Carter going, support Biron some more (defense was shitty last night, very shitty) and that game ends 2-1 Pens, not 4-1.

Which gives a better indiciation of the series, IMO. One must remember, the Pens played fan-fickin-tastic last night. They havent played like that since their march back into playoff contention in early March. They dominated... the Flyers played like complete garbage (save for Biron, who I thought was solid). Stupid penalty after stupid penalty, no offensive flow or transition game to speak of...yet, the Flyers were still in the game in the third period.

Thats was Pitt's best shot and admittedly, it was a very nice "shot". But if Flyers tighten up the defense and get a cycle going down low with their physical forwards, Gonchar wont last the series, nor Letang. Fleury will crack and the Flyers could turn this series around as soon as next game.

I dont have much faith in either coach for either team, but if I had to choose one, it'd be Stevens. Bylsma is a rook who likes to play aggressive because of his center depth. Without those guys going, you'd have to time it in nanoseconds before Bylsma puts them into a trap and Philly will walk all over them physically.

Washington shit the bed...didnt expect that. I thought NYR would win a game on their own ice, but they stole the first game! Gomez was everywhere. I think I may have underestimated NYR with Lundqvist in net....Ive never thought much of Washington. Sure they can score, but theyre goaltending and defense are deplorable. Thus the reason I think its a fucking travesty that Green is going to win the Norris. Total bullshit.

New Jersey did just as I expected. Complete and utter domination, total bitch-smacking in the first game. I expect Carolina to put up a better fight in their own building, but this series was over before it started, IMO. NJ is a Cup contender, Carolina is an east Pretender.

What a game between StLouis and Vancouver! Excellent hockey being played there, just wish the refs would put their damn whistles away and let them play. Both teams have size and grit...let them decide the outcome. 15 fucking PPs between the two teams...thats ridiculous. Ended 2-1 with Luongo looking like the all-world goaltender he is. But remember, that was Vancouver, at home in the first game of the playoffs and they only mustered a 2-1 victory with their goaltender carrying the team to victory. That is no recipe for longterm success in the playoffs...not saying its impossible or that it hasnt happened before, but its a real gamble to bank on such things. They look vulnerable to me. StLouis was hitting everything in sight. That will pay dividends by game 3, just watch.

God, I love the playoffs.

I absolutely read your preview. So far, your take on Washington is spot on. Their defense is shoddy, at best. But then, I thought they would "out talent" NYR.

Its the first game but theyve already lost home ice advantage. Washington, I think, still wins the series. But I'll have a better gauge on that after game 2.

I think Washington will win game 2 because NYR will relax.

However, Boudreau has to take a decision: do I start Theodore in game 2 or not?

Because if he plays like he did in game 1, it's 0-2

(But again, remember Carolina in the first round in 2006' the Habs drilled Gerber and Canes lost ice advantage. down 0-2; then Cam Ward started and they won the next 4; although it had a lot to do with Koivu'seye injury in game 3)

What a game tonight. The Flyers have played pretty stupid in the closing moments of both games. This was a well played game, with few penalties.

I wish the Pens would have played this aggressive against the Red Wings last season....I think they could have forced a game 7. Even playing timid for much of the series, they forced 6 games...and had a few good shots at the end to tie it and send it to OT....

I hope this series ends just like last years.....

San Jose = Choking
Detroit = Dominating
Vancouver = Barely, but winning
Chicago = barely, but winning

Boston = Dominating (I thought it'd be a good series, but the games havent even been close)
Washington = Complete No Show (Lundqvist has a lot to do with that, Green is great forward, not a defencemen)
New Jersey/Carolina = VERY Competitive
Pitt/Philly = VERY competitive

Lang and Markov are huge losses. Tanguay would have helped. Schneider is kind of washed up, but his absence is only exacerbated by Markov's.

Price isnt Jesus, hes making the routine saves, but not the HUGE save.

Really, I based my projection of this series on nothing more than a hunch and the rivalry of these two teams in the playoffs.

Obviously, I over-estimated Montreal with their injury problems. Boston is deeper, meaner and more physical with two better goalies. I should have went with my head instead of my heart.

Nothing wrong with your pick; you can't be aware of every team's injury status

Regarding Schneider, he might be old, but our PP was transformed the second Gainey acquired him: from 18% to 25 % :wow

Price has talent; he made some amazing saves vs Boston, but he also allowed softies.
No athlete in North American pro sports faces more pressure than the # 1 goaltender in Montreal.
Price is only 21, so he is not ready yet; Patrick Roy was the exception: he led us to the 1986 Stanley Cup as a 20 y/o
As I said, Price has talent but he is not ready mentally; a top NHL goalie can allow 2 early goals but bounce back, keep his team in the game by making big saves and win it; Price seems to be devastated after allowing 1 bad goal.
If I'm the Canadiens, I send him 1 more year in the minors so he can mature from a mental standpoint.
Halak has been great his year for us; he should have been our starter in the playoffs

I dont agree with that. Theyre in a tough series. Calgary is no push over, Wings fans can tell you from experience.

There is a reason they are the 4th and 5th seed...theyre a close matchup.

Chicago beat them twice on their ice, they got beat twice on Calgary's ice.

Thats playoff hockey. Nothing like basketball in anyway shape or form. Just because one team is more skilled on paper doesnt mean shit on a stick with regards to hockey. Its all about, drive, determination, defense and goaltending. The 8 seed beating the 1 seed is not uncommon in hockey, whereas its the ultimate upset of all time in basketball.

Anyway, I dont want to come across as preachy. For all I know, youre 60 years old and remember the last time the Hawks won the Cup and here I am trying to explain how playoff hockey works. :lol

SO, to review my 1st round predicitions :

Bruins - Habs: yes, we do have the mental edge, but Markov is listed a day-to-day; we can beat the Bruins, but I like our chances better with Markov. Nevertheless, should fun to watch, great rivalry, and we almost beat them last week in Boston; it's a good thing Price finally woke the fuck up.

If Markov can play at least 2 games in this series: Habs in 7
If not, Bruins in 6 ........... Okay I was 2 games short

FAIL :lmao

BUT Brodeur will rise to the occasion; Devils in 7 C'mon, Marty, make me look smart :D

Vouashigneutone - Rangers: Washington is very talented offensively, but their blue line and their goaltending suck major donkey ass.
Drury may miss game 1, so Caps have to take advantadge.

Rangers in 6-7 Still valid :D

Wings vs Columbus: Wings in 5....... no wait !
Osgood has been sucking as of late, and Mason can be a show stopper

Wings in 7.
(It's a good thing Wings are not playing the Predators :D )

Ok, I picked the Wings, but not in 7

Sharks vs Anaheim: San Jose is the better team, but Thornton and Marleau are not playoff legends; Anaheim is big team and they will play tough.

Sharks in 7 Fail :lmao

Vancouver vs St-Louis: hard to figure; Vancouver seems to be a well balanced team, but Luongo has been so-so this season.
The Blues have been the hottest team in the NHL over the last 2 months; really impressive.

Because Canucks have home ice to bail them out, Vancouver in 7. Again, I picked the right team, but in 7

Flames in 6-7 Fail :lmao

Yeeeeah...not so much. I went 2-5 and had every number of games wrong. And you wonder why I dont make predictions on the Wings?

Laughable.

Which means we are good enough to work at ESPN.

Canes/devils game was crazy!

Yes

Not just game 7, but also game 4 of the series; it was tied and Canes scored the game winner at the buzzer beater !!!! :wow:wow:wow:wow:wow:wow

Those guys are clutch : games 4 and 7 have shown that.

THey have some kind of clutch, refuse to lose, mojo going on.

If I'm the Bruins, I shoud be afraid of them.

East Predictions:

1.Boston vs 6.Carolina - B's in 6. After having a deplorable record in the first round, why not continue the trend? I wouldnt be surprised to see this series go either way. Tells you how much I know...

2.Washington vs 4.Pittsburgh - Pens in 5. The Caps are such pretenders. They'd be out of the playoffs if they played any of the other teams not named Montreal or NYR. Shoddy defense, a #1 defensemen who doesnt play defense and all out attack that isnt that deadly. Heres a tip for Pitt... Get the puck in their zone, down low and cycle them to death. They dont like playing defense because they arent very good at it. This series should be quick with the way Fleury is playing and all the offensive depth Pitt has. Could be a barn-burner or a real snooze fest if the Caps never mount a counter-attack. Either way, Washington is done like dinner here.

1. B's versus Canes; Bruins in 7; Boston is the better team, but as I pointed out in my previous posting, Canes have some kind of surnatural clutch mojo going on for them.
Oh, and I'm trying to jinx Boston too :D

2. Pens vs Caps: Pens in 5, I have to agree with Darkreign; Pens are more talented, deeper.
Their goaltending is waaayyyyyyyyyyyy better, as well as their D.
Mike Green is an offensive defenceman, his D sucks.

Plus, referees bailed Capitals out in game 7 :flipoff :pctoss
It's obvious the NHL wanted Ovechkin vs Crosby :flipoff

I have waited 11 years for the Caps to go to the next round :toast, only to face the team that had crushed the Caps' cup hopes for two straight years (2000 and 2001, albeit against a Lemieux-Jagr-led Pens' squad).

I just hope they will better luck against a Crosby-Malkin-led squad with ex-Cap Sergei Gonchar.

It sucks not having Versus.

The Cup Quest continues. :ihit

Right there with you buddy!! I grew up in Washington, was in basic training when they went to the cup finals the first time. I think we can take the pens in 6. We played well against them this season. Go Caps

They pull their respective heads from their asses, this series wouldnt be as close as it is.

That Caps goalie is kicking ass.

Game 1 should have gone to OT...but that unbelievable save on the Crosby shot was the difference.....even though it happened in the 2nd period.

I missed Game 2 cause I was at work....

Tonight, he was once again saving pretty much everything. The Pens had so many chances in OT alone and got nothing, until that Letang shot....IMO, if it doesn't hit a Caps player, the goalie eats it with his glove.

Im just happy the Pens got this one.....now we need game 4

Wife of Hurricanes' Walker has cervical cancer (http://forums.habsworld.net/index.php?showtopic=19238)

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The wife of Carolina Hurricanes (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=car) forward Scott Walker (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=994) has cancer. The team says the cervical cancer is treatable and Julie Walker is expected to make a full recovery.
"It was a challenge the first couple days, but we're slowly getting back to normal," Walker said Saturday afternoon, when he addressed the situation with the media for the first time. "It was a little more detailed than they [doctors] first anticipated, so that was hard. Now it's getting to the point where we have talked to all the doctors and we'll move forward."
The team said the cancer was diagnosed during the Eastern Conference semifinal series against Boston. Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice learned of it May 9.

http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nhl/players/65/994.jpg
Walker
"We're a family," he said. "You deal with it as you would as a family. What do you need? What can we do to help?
"We move forward in whatever direction they are comfortable with. He didn't want to be a distraction. Scotty is making the people around him feel better."
Walker was vilified in Boston for punching Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=1001) late in Game 5 of their series, drawing a $2,500 fine.
Walker ended up the Hurricanes' hero, scoring the winning goal in overtime of Game 7, his first career playoff goal.
"The last couple games, I don't even remember playing. I was just trying to do my job and play as hard as I could," he said.
The Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=pit) open the Eastern Conference final Monday.
"Fortunately for me, [the dressing room] is a place where I get to go and get away from it. The other wives have been great. They took her out to dinner and kept her busy," Walker said.

Police: Anaheim GM swings chair, hits woman (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009/news?id=4171546)

DETROIT -- Detroit police say a woman was accidentally hit by a chair swung by Ducks general manager Bob Murray after Anaheim (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=ana)'s loss to the Red Wings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=det) in Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinal series.
Sgt. Alan Quinn said on Saturday that the woman was struck while in the press box Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena, and Murray apologized. Quinn says police took a report and the woman declined to seek charges.
The incident was first reported on Friday by WJBK-TV in Detroit.
The Ducks said Saturday that Murray denies throwing a chair. On Friday, he told the Los Angeles Times that it was a "complete accident."
With the 4-3 win, the Wings advanced to play the Chicago Blackhawks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=chi) in the conference finals that start Sunday in Detroit.
