Lots to be encouraged about:

-Antoine Wright started and looked really solid.
-Kidd was great but still not aggressive enough with his own shot, Dirk is Dirk.
-Josh wasn't ballhogging, and he was back to slashing and hardly took a jumper all night.
-The entire offense was really active, no more passing in to Dirk and everyone watching him iso.
-The defense was alot more aggressive and looked great.
-Brandon Bass looked like his usual beast self.
-Getting Diop back helped a ton on defense, and he's a little more active on offense.

A few negatives:

-Dampier still can't catch a basketball.
-Stackhouse still shoots a shitload of those pullup jumpers that never go in.
-JJ Barea is too small to play in the NBA. Period. If he's the backup PG, we're in trouble.
-The entire team couldn't shoot their FT's for shit.

Then again, we played the Wizards without Arenas and Jamison, so you can't put too much stock into last night.

I wouldn't worry about the FTs, and I'm pretty sure that when Kidd is getting a breather, Terry will be running the point. Terry is a great BACKUP point. He should get about 16 minutes a game there.

Thanks for the report, I'll pay attention to the Mavs starting November 5th.

Yeah as a backup JET does a solid job at the point. Barea just doesn't have the size or athleticism to be competitive. I mean Dee Brown was absolutely destroying him, and Dee Brown is probably too small to ever be a good NBA player.

Howard was beastin.

What exactly happened to Jamison?

Dirk drove baseline and appeared Jamison's knee went out..you can see the highlights on espn.com

-JJB is trash and should only play in scrub situations.
-I must say I didnt see J-Ho take a single step back jumper. he looked like the old J-Ho slashing to the basket:clap
-Mavs really made an effort to run the ball both off makes and misses
-Mavs had about 64 points in the paint and 36 fast break points:wow
-Wright looked solid so hopefully he can contribute at the SG
-24 turnover's but Mavs players missed alot of great passes from Kidd

Antoine Wright In The Mix To Start In Dallas

Oct 08, 2008 9:16 AM EST
Guard Antoine Wright is reportedly in the mix to start for the Mavericks at shooting guard this season.

Wright started at shooting guard against Washington in the team's preseason opener. Coach Rick Carlisle plans to start him a few times this month to see what he's able to do in a starting role.

"I just have to find the best formula for our team," Carlisle said. "He had a strong camp and has some familiarity with what we're doing."

Wright is familiar with the offense, because it is similar to the one he ran with the Nets in New Jersey.

"When you have a lot of 6-6, athletic wings, [coach] can pretty much plug in whoever and get the same results," Wright said. "You just try to be perfect."

the players look like they are actually having FUN. No more standing around waiting for the ball, there is more movement overall with all the screens and backdoor cuts n shit. Josh is driving more instead of pulling up for the jumper. Bass is still a fucking animal. Wright is looking better and better, I know he doesnt have much offensive game but against the wiz he was driving like dwade. Stackhouse and george still suck. Singleton looks good and he might be an important piece in the unit if all plays out.

And carlise is doing what avery never did. When the players miss a dfensive assignment,he will call a t.o instead of letting them play and bitch at them when the lead shrinks after it happens a second time.

The Suns have been to the WCF twice since Nash arrived, to the conference semi-finals once, and got eliminated in the first round last year (3 of those eliminations came at the hands of the Spurs). I think Suns fans have had the right to be excited about our team, especially since we've been one of the best teams in the league for the last 4 years.

The Rockets, on the other hand. Well, they haven't proven anything with this lineup, haven't even made it out of the first round. It's one thing to be excited about the future, but these Rox fans have no right to ride a high horse this early in the season.
