Bama is a very good team, my second favorite team, ever since George Teague. They have a stellar defense. But, don't underestimate Texas. I am not happy that Texas leapfrogged Bama before the Mizzou game. I think it would be quite a defensive struggle and I feel Texas can hang with anyone in the nation.

mental strength is arguably the most important aspect to winning football games. USC proved they were not mentally strong by making mistakes. its all part of the game. not being mentally strong means you have a weakness, just like lack of running game is considered a weakness, or lack of defense is considered as weakness.

I love how USC's loss to an unranked team and a horrible performance against a shitty ASU squad where their offense sputtered, moves them up to anywhere even near a top 10 spot in the rankings. Meanwhile Kansas' loss ended any chance of a bowl game this year, and Missouri's looks like it may have done the same. USC is so wildly overrated the last 2 years, they should seriously be in EVERY national title game from now on due to their inevitable #1 ranking at the start of each season and the weak ass conference that they play in. I live in Tucson and get to see the shitty Pac10 teams play a lot, and I honestly think there are high school teams in Texas that would give this powderpuff conference fits

I agree; SC is consistently overrated in the system. They can lose to a poor team while LSU and UGA and Mizzou can all lose to other highly ranked teams and still be behind them.
I think people try to compensate because the rest of the P10 (sort of west coast football in general) sucks so badly they fell one team needs to be rated high, whereas, well, heck you got tons of midwest/southeast teams so might as well let someone else share.
It is a conspiracy to keep the west coast interested in football because without SC they have nothing. Sort of starts at I-35 and goes west, with the annual mormon selection (Utah, Hawaii, BYU).

1. True.
2. True; in a conf with the widest disparity of having different teams going, SC dominates the P10 and has gotten the auto-bid more than any other team.
3. Yay; its funny, you know uo and UT fans consider ending the year #2 a disappointment. I guess SC fans are just jazzed to be on the show.
4. Again, come play in the SEC or B12 and see how many 11 win seasons in a row you get.
There have been more teams from non-BCS confs in BCS Bowls (3) than 2nd P10 teams in the BCS as an at-large (2).
Only USC has multiple BCS Bowl bids - no other P10 school has more than 1.
Only twice this century have more than 2 P10 teams been ranked in the final AP poll (Az State #20 - 2004; UW #19 - 2001).
P10 only had one team in the top 20 in 1999 (Ore #19), 1998 (UCLA #8), 1995 (SC #12), 1990 (UW #5), 1989 (SC #8), 1985 (UCLA #6), 1983 (UCLA #13) and I got tired of looking.
P10 is only a better conf than the ACC or BEast in the BCS era because SC is in it. That's all, nothing more.
Hell if ttek even got to play that schedule every year they'd have 11 wins 7 or 8 years in a row, let alone uo, UT, LSU, Fla, UGA, etc.
And to further prove how lucky SC is to have the P10, the reason they get to go to the BCS every year - because of the patsy P10 schedule, let's look at the records of the BCS Era:
Boise State - 103-24; 1 BCS Bid
UT - 103-25 2 BCS Bid; 1 Title
uo - 102-28 6 Bids; 1 Title
Ohio - 98-27 6 Bids; 1 Title
Va Tech - 99-28; 3 Bids
UGA - 97-30; 3 Bids
Miami - 94-30; 4 Bids; 1 Title
SC - 94-32; 6 Bids; 1 Title
In the BCS era, the only other P10 team in the top 20 in record is Oregon (#17) and they have 1 BCS bid. To my suprise, Oregon State was next... at #31.
The B12 has 2 in the Top 3 (the top 2 if you aren't counting Boise), Neb (18), KSU (24) and ttek (28). atm is at 42 which is still above the next P10 team (UCLA 44).
SEC has 6, 10, 10, 16, 19.
ACC has 5, 7, 12, 19, 27.
BEast has 5, 14, 22, 26.
B10/1 has 4, 9, 15,
SC makes a living feasting off of poor P10 teams to get the auto BCS bid. Have they won a good amount of games since then, yes; good on them. Getting the auto bid guarantees them a home game at the Rose Bowl where 4 of their BCS games have been and they are 3-1 (losing only to UT in the title game).
I'm sure Ohio and UT and uo would love to play a home game for a BCS Bowl, as well.

1. True.
Lol, "jazzed to be on the "show"" SC has lost one BCS Bowl game in 6 years. I hope they can land a B12 or SEC team this year.

mike,
again, you're only looking at factors that you think strengthen your argument. SC plays one the toughest non-conference schedules year in and year out and has a phenomenal record against the top 10. you're not going to agree with this, but the pac-10 is plenty tough...lots of talent and the ability to beat any team anywhere. though, i do think they are more inconsistent than some of the other power conferences. SC has more trouble with conference foes than top 25 non-conference opponents.
playing in the rose bowl isn't much of an advantage. both teams have about equal amount of fans in the stands and it isn't like the visiting team is traveling overnight to make the afternoon game. its a bunch of college kids. if anything, i'd think playing near home would be more of a distraction. so you can stop the insanity.
SC is the best program in college football right now, and all your spinning and efforts in convincing can't change that.

Talk about spinning. Not much of an advantage in the Rose Bowl... just a bunch of college kids... now we know why people think you aren't very smart. Because you don't think before you open your yap and say stupid stuff.

Sanchez was pretty good against Oregon and Ohio State, but you have a decent point. we'll see how he responds if the Trojans get in another tight one.
t.u. would not stomp SC. SC has never been stomped since Pete Carroll has been coach and it wont happen this year. aside from that, i don't think t.u. fan should be all that excited at the possibility of playing the Trojans. yes, t.u. beat oklahomo, but SC is a different animal.

When I said stomp, I just meant "get their ass kicked" not like a 44-0 score or anything like that. But this isn't the SC teams of the past few years. And the Pac-10 will not prepare this team for adequate competition down the road. Texas at least has a schedule that will make them battle tested come the Big XII championship and Bowl games.

then you would think that since a team being in houston didnt matter (as evidenced by not rooting for the Texans), then you would have become a titans fan.
although im sure you would be rooting your ass off for the texans had they drafted reggie bush. but of course you will likely deny it.

do you realize how ridiculous your comments and this conversation are? you're trying to tell me who i should root for...more or less.
anyway, i hated the oilers when they left...why would i be a fan of that team? fuck them. i started rooting for the Saints before houston got the texans in 2002. it was pretty sweet when they got Bush and Brees...though its only led to 1 good season. this year has been tough b/c we could be at least 5-1 and quite possibly 6-0. the washington and minnesota games were fucking brutal. and we had some decent chances against denver...
