Some needed a "neither" choice. And I don't think the categorical results are accurate. I'm more liberal when it comes to social issues and conservative when it comes to fiscal issues. The quiz had it backwards.

He's from the let's give Yassir a Nobel Peace Prize and 3 billion a yer and then he'll be chill, school of asshattery.

I guess that kind of asshattery is better than claiming you thought up the Theory of Supermassive Black Holes 20 years ago

Dude...it takes a hell of a lot more intelligence to prove or disprove the existence of of something than it does to conceive of it...or believe in it.

It's been 20 years since I took any astronomy classes but the last time I checked, we still haven't proven any theory of the origin of the Universe...

Does that mean there isn't one?

And that reminds me...20 years ago in an Astronomy course I had a debate with Professor that there must be something like a black hole at the center of galaxies...

He asked what my reasoning was and I said...because the spiral galaxies look exactly like the swirls in water when you drain the bathtub....

sidenote: and please don't even attempt to claim that doesn't sound like something I would think of :smokin

Needless to say my IMO, brilliant theory was met with a great deal of amusment by my classmates, as well as my Prof, at that point my Prof asked me if I could come up with any sort of test to prove my theory...to which I responded, no, I don't have enough knowledge to come up with anything to test that...I just know what they look like, why would they look so similar unless there were similar principles behind both of them?

Lo and behold, now it's a commonly accepted theory:

It is interesting that everyone here values liberty more than all the political candidates that we end up electing! It is clear that we as people are doomed to be oppressed by a massive government until the next revolution. How much longer before national ID cards and social programs that encompass every aspect of life? When will we as citizens get our basic rights back? How did we sign over our freedoms to washington? From wiretaps to a federal government 800 miles away telling us how to raise our children in our local schools, is this what the founding fathers wanted?

That quiz needed to be about 3 times as long and have more than two answers to each question to allow for shade in opinion.

20 questions is waaay insufficient to meaningfully measure something.

I always end up about there. Diametrically opposed to Bush/Cheney, and closest to the Dalai Lama, if not exactly on his dot. I have taken teh test a few times over the last few years and the results have been pretty consistent.

The Democrats are closer on the graph to me than Republicans, and I have noted, closer in belief to a lot of people here who seem to identify more with Republicans than Democrats in their statements.

Interesting test that you may or may not have taken from the political compass website, with some rather shocking things said by people you would not expect.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/iconochasms

For example:

Who urged suspicious attention to any proposed new law or regulation that comes from businessmen, because they "have generally an interest to deceive and even to oppress the public" ?

or

Whosoever shall be guilty of rape, polygamy, or sodomy with a man or woman, shall be punished; if a man, by castration, a woman, by boring through the cartilage of her nose a hole of one half inch in diameter at the least ?

OK, I took the stupid test in post#1. I skipped three questions that neither view applied to me. By the 'exact' 1/4 splits, it looks like one or the other was defaulted, skewing the results:

Overall: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

Social Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

We were pretty close WC.

I like all of these super-libertarian scores. That must be why there are all these Paul/Kucinich presidential debates.
