Ron Paul is a libertarian. A fiscal/economic conservative and social liberal, and moderate to liberal in other areas. Not quite a full conservative.

I think the problem is that his 'shady' relationships are not shady at all. Otherwise they would really be an issue. I mean, the NYT carried it on his front page. The actual problem is that people didn't give a shit, because they were more worried about something else.
