The New Jersey Nets will acquire Clifford Robinson from Golden State later Monday in exchange for two future second-round picks and a Nets trade exception worth roughly $5 million, league sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

At this stage of his career, Robinson is a defensive specialist who can guard big men of various sizes and still occupy defenses occasionally with his shooting range. Minnesota's Kevin Garnett once described Robinson as "hands-down the best defensive player in the league."

After unexpectedly emerging as the Warriors' starting center for much of the season, the 6-foot-10, 240-pounder also holds appeal in the trade market because his salary is reasonable ($5.3 million) and because his contract expires at season's end.

New Jersey showed interest in Robinson even before the Nets began to climb in the Atlantic Division standings behind a rejuvenated Vince Carter.

Good thing the Spurs didn't get this playoff choker.

I don't know if it was mentioned elsewhere but I was driving back in today and heard part of the Pop Show on the radio. Don asked Pop if they might possibly consider going after another "Big" since our pivots are hurting. Pop said, uh..."No". :(

Sequ, GS isn't smart enough to draft any of them damn ferners. BTW, Robinson hasn't been "decent" in probably 3-4 years.

Just tought the same thing. Another Bigman would help I think. But you have to be happy with what we have and with Timmy healthy you can beat any team in the league.

Aw c'mon! We lost one frigging game to the Heat, by 4 points, when they hit >50% and we couldn't buy a shot (or a call from the officials) down the stretch.
And you think that translates into a loss in a 7 game Series? No proof that Zo is any healthier (or better) than he was when he joined the Nets. Wasn't Dikembe supposed to bring 'defensive presence off the bench' in New Jersey in the Finals a couple of years back?

Don't panic, folks, we have a looong way until June.

It's not just because of that one game.
It's about Timmy being hurt, Horry being hurt and Malik not getting the minutes he should be getting.

I got news for you. If Timmy's hurt, there's not a pickup you can make b/w now and the trade deadline (unless the Wolves want to deal Garnett) that is gonna help. No Tim = no championship.

As for the rest of the team's injuries/streaks/etc/, that's just part of the ups and downs of the regular season. I'm not against picking up some help on the front line if they can, but I think panicking about it now does no good. This team is solid enough---with NO OTHER ADDITIONS---to win a title. Whether the injuries prevent them from doing so---well, we'll just have to wait until June to find out, won't we?
