INDEPENDENCE -- Guard Daniel Gibson will start tonight at shooting guard for the Cavaliers in their exhibition game against the San Antonio Spurs at Quicken Loans Arena. Cavs coach Mike Brown announced the move today around noon today after shootaround at Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Brown was less definitive when asked the status of some other players. He said swing man Sasha Pavlovic, returning from a sprained right ankle, most likely would not play.

Forward/center Ben Wallace, who has been bothered by a sore back, most likely will play. Guard Delonte West, who just returned after 11 days away to take care of personal issues, may play.

cleveland is a joke of a team. I can't beleive Mike Brown is still an NBA coach.

"Throw the ball to Lebron and everyone else, move to the other side of the court."

dont be suprised to see Lebron get out of the east this year with this current team.

+1 for that and Mike Brown is not a great coach, but he is a good coach. One of the league's better defensive coaches, in fact.

true. Their defense is ok, but I was referring to their offense.

Mike Brown should be a defensive coach not head coach.

I don't think they get out of the east.

They still haven't addressed offensive help for Lebron.

I guess the PG duties remain with Mo Williams.

26 Hairston, Malik G R Oregon 6-6 220

BTW, since when is Malik Hairston #26? I think they must have gotten that number from Summer League or some-such. They also show Big Shot Rob on the roster along with James Gist!

they got out of the east in '07 with much less... i think most teams in the east stand a chance to get out of the east because the east is water-downed compared to the west.

I think Mo will help in the offense more this year and Mike Brown with that group can provide the best defense in the NBA (I think Boston will regress a bit at that reagard even when they have Thibodeau).
we will see what's gonna happen but I think with their stellar D and LeBrons leadership along with Mo and nice froncourt Z and BigBen they are my favorites to win East this year.

Anthony Tolliver is also 44

Summer league number.

Impossible that I know of for him to have that number now...

The east is alot tougher than it was in 07 as well.

The east got a tad stronger while the west is about the same.

Should be interesting.

They still haven't addressed offensive help for Lebron.

The sad point to all this is they actually think they have addressed it.

You don't need much of an offensive game plan when you have Lebron James on your team...:lol

And I agree, I think the Cavs are going to have a very, very good chance of coming out of the East this year. They have an odd mish-mash of players surrounding Lebron, but it all seems to work just because of how brilliant Lebron is. And I think the addition of Mo Peterson is really going to help them. Him, plus Daniel Gibson, and Lebron should be enough offense for the Cavs to produce points.

Yeah a shoot first point guard from the Bucks is gonna solve everything :lol

The luster is coming off old Daniel Ferry.

They sound like the Spurs. Stagnant offense, good defense.

So there is no similarities? Lebron is an all-star, Wally was an all-star, Ben Wallace was an all star and so was Big Z. I am not saying they are as good as the Spurs. They are a defense first team with a mediocre offense. They are not the Spurs, but molded after them.

:lol

The ways you just compared em makes them nothing like the SPurs no.

The only way they are is that people that used to coach and work for the Spurs are there and they preach defense first.

Other than that, thats all.

They are not close to the Spurs in terms of talent, but how they are "set-up". Brown makes the focus on Defense, and they run an OK offense, but they struggle. The Spurs play defense much better than the Cavs, but the Spurs offense gets stagnant and is middle of the road.

Mo Williams's 20ppg wasn't addressing the offense?
