View Full Version : Trade Speculation - I'm bored

All right, I'm bored. Therefore, out comes trade speculation...

Let's try this

SAS out - Bonner, Horry (resigned to a partially guaranteed 1 year contract worth 3.5 Million $ total, Vet Min (1, 262 275) guaranteed), Cash - $1,262, 275
Chi out - Nocioni

Why for SA - Get Nocioni, loose Bonner
Why for Chi - Move Nocioni's contract and make floor time for Deng and the kids (Thomas, Noah at the 4)

Is this worth it? Nocioni's contract last to 12/13, with the final year being a team option... Its presence would have a significant impact on our apparent planned FA spree in the summer of 2010. He's also been overpaid for his production. In particular, last season, he sucked (WS/48 = -0.027, WS/48 = 0.1 is an average player, also PER = 13.6, PER = 15 is an average player) and is sucking so far this pre-season. However, Bonner also sucks (WS/48 = .022, PER = 12.3), and Nocioni might regain his form of 05/06 and 06/07 in a fresh environment. I can easily see Nocioni as a starter in our system and a major upgrade over Finley.
C - Oberto, PF - Duncan, SF - Nocioni, SG - Bowen, PG - Parker.

Is the trade off (future capspace for current production) worth it? Do you think Chicago does it ?

PS - A bonus trade question - Would you be interested in trading for Aaron Gray from the Bulls. Say
SAS out - Watkins (Vet min, Unguaranteed), 2009 2nd round pick (ours), 2009 2nd round pick (Pheonix)
CHI out - Gray (Vet min, Guaranteed)
Why for SA - Get a Big 3ed C for those nights when we have to bang with the really big boys (Shaq, Yao) (Gray is 7'0 265), he might just be a diamond in the rough (he's got skills but is slow a la Rasho, which IMO is fine for the vet min). Also, he's demonstrated enough to be a decent 5th/6th big in the NBA
Why for CHI - Move a guy who doesn't fit with team plan/structure, get 2 2nd s back (he was originally pick #49).

I'd say doable if the Bulls were stupid.

I said that a long time ago. I think Morrison would be a good fit in SA, just do not see a reason to trade him to SA for the Bobcats.

First, you can't S&T Horry like that. The first year has to be fully guaranteed in a S&T.

Second, you had to consider that your trade will bring Spurs ahead of the luxury tax. With the financial crisis, I don't see Holt allowing Spurs to go ahead of the luxury tax this year.

Third, there is no third.

Yep, bored, Bored, BORED!!!!

You think this is a bad deal for the Bulls? 1) They assuredly want to move his contract; even if he gets back to his 05 to 07 productivity, it's still too much money for his production. If he doesn't he's a really bad deal... 2) This would also give them a shot at the 2010 FAs. 3) He's too old to fit into their rising generation of kids (29 this year). 4) I can't see them getting much more than expirings for him and his contract.

Personally, not on the Spurs if I had the choice. Even though we have castigated both Brent Barry and Michael Finley for their defence, Morrison is worse. He's also not efficient/productive offensively. Career TS% 45, Career EFG% 42.2... Jaque Vaughn was .481 and .433 last year.

Morrison is a bust and a stiff.

Another "Great college player, horrible NBA player"

He'll be out of the league in 5 years.

Morrison only played one year. To call him a bust is premature at this point. He was a rookie when he shot those %, then he got hurt and now is ready for his 3rd year. The surgery does not help his cause. I am not saying he will be the greatest player ever, but he works really hard and can shoot. He would be a very nice compliment to Bowen for an offensive option imo.

Nocioni would make a pretty good Spur, I'm not sold on Morrison

For this trade to happen Paxson would have to get fired and the Bulls would have to hire Isiah.

Noccioni would be a great player for the MLE, but for $9M per, he's WAY overpaid. He's a complementary 4th or 5th guy, and he's paid like a 2nd or 3rd guy.

Morrison is just flat horrible. He's like a 6'8" version of AI's worst shooting year. He shoots in volume at a horrible percentage and sucks ASS on defense.

Haywood out up to 6 months

Maybe ship Bonner to the Wiz for someone? Pecherov, perhaps? Just initiating some conversation here.

why not Haywood himself? having him out for 6 months is pretty much the same as having Bonner on the bench. :lol
