Since I'm playing batchelor during the week (I'm working away from home for the time being and home on weekends) a lot of idle time in the evenings has allowed me to read a few books, I thought I'd share what I've read recently.

"Neuromancer" by William Gibson
This book was the inspriation for the Matrix movies. A great read and I wish I had read this when it was first published (1984) as Gibson's grasp of what was to happen in the future with computers was uncanny.

"Alas, Babylon" by Pat Frank
A novel of survivors of an atomic war written in the late 1950's during the beginning of the Cold War. Some of the concepts are outdated, but a chilling read nonetheless.

The Pepperdogs by Bing West
A good quick read about a Marine Corps Reconnaissance unit operating in Kosovo. The characters are a bit larger of life, but an intertaining read.

Next two up on deck:
"The Long, Dark Tea Time The Soul" by Douglas Adams
From the creator of "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy"

"Killing Pablo' by Mark Bowden
From the author of "Blackhawk Down", a story of the takedown of Pablo Escobar.
