Jeff McDonald: Spurs make a cut (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/archives/2008/10/jeff_mcdonald_s_18.html)

The Spurs made their first roster cut this morning, waiving center Charles Gaines.

Gaines played in four of the team's five preseason games, averaging 3.3 points. In this case, the first cut was not the deepest: Gaines became expendable in camp when Kurt Thomas returned from a hamstring injury last week.

The Spurs' roster now stands at 19. They must jettison four more players before the Oct. 27 deadline.

I bet it's at the request of his agent. Some Turkish team has come calling, no doubt. The Spurs have intention of keeping him, but might still use a warm body in practice. Whatever, doesn't matter.

Green is the next to go, followed by Watkins.

Green isn't difficult for me. The rest of them will be hard though.

Yeah...I'm a little surprised they didn't go ahead and cut him too. I get the feeling they want to look closer at Hariston and Farmer.

I believe Green and Watkins are next.
Then Hairston.
Tolliver's a lock since the FO is so in love with him.
It'll be between Farmer and Stoudamire. If Stoudamire sucks the last two games, I think Farmer will get the last spot. If Stoudamire is decent, he'll get the last spot because he has experience even if Farmer is a better shooter.

In my opinion it's definitely Green and Watkins next..

Then its a choice between Tolliver, Hairston, Farmer and Stoudamire.. although it seems the FO love Tolliver, so he may be a lock.. I have a feeling we will all be surprised by Popovich's picks.. just hope they make the right decision and bring in a good player and a good scorer to help :)

I'm gonna say Watkins and Stoudamire get the ax.
