Attention,Tim Duncan! A pretty Disney Channel star is dying to meet you.
Selena Gomez of TV's popular “Wizards of Waverly Place” remains true to the San Antonio Spurs even after relocating from her native Dallas to Lakers country: Los Angeles.
She's planning to attend lots of Spurs games this year with a fellow fan — her dad — and nothing would please her more than to meet Duncan, whom she's admired since she first saw him play.
Yes, lots has happened to the teen star this past year — a hit TV show, a so-called feud with Miley Cyrus and lots of buzz over what's being called a “romance” between her and Nick Jonas.
However, one thing remains a constant: her devotion to the San Antonio Spurs. “I've been a fan since I was 5 years old,” she said, adding that she never hesitates to display her loyalty — loudly — at Spurs-Lakers games. In fact, she recalled the frown on the face of Kobe Bryant's wife, who was sitting behind her at a playoff game last year. Gomez said she attended the game with six friends but was the only one wearing a Spurs jersey.
As for her Sunday night show “Wizards,” which is in its second season on Disney, she said she's happy the show is “stronger than ever” and loves her fellow cast members like “a second family.”
That much-hyped “feud” with “Hannah Montana's” Cyrus, which was reportedly fueled by a YouTube video in which it appeared Cyrus was mocking Gomez?
She said “there's no feud” and she and Cyrus remain on friendly terms.
So is she dating the youngest Jonas brother or not? “I'm not that lucky,” she said. However, she feels “blessed” to be friends with the brothers, who are “really good people.”
“I'm close to all of them,” she said.
What's next for the 16-year-old? She's working on her first album and soon will be seen in a new movie — “Princess Protection Program” — with friend and fellow Texan Demi Lovato.
Meantime, she can be seen on a special two-part episode of “Wizards” at 7 p.m. Sunday and at a Spurs game soon in the AT&T Center. “Look for me!” she said.
