Interesting topic on "the ticket" this afternoon. Just wanted to know if you would support a team in San Antonio.

The Force failed ten years ago...why would it be any different now? Desperados game in Dallas are a joke...announced attended at 10K and like 3K in the stands.

I do think it's smart for NFL teams to use Arena squads as developmental squads, though.

Fuck The Arena ball, I think its retarded and I really don't care for it.
The ball bouncing off the Arena walls is hilarious though :lol

I wouldn't go to a AFL game. I think i'd go to a WWE even before this

NO. But....

If the tickets were less than nine bucks and the beer was cheap, I'd have to give it a shot.

I had season tickets to the Force and I was highly pissed that they discontinued it after only one season. They had half-way decent attendance and the games were fun as hell.

How many of you "no" voters have ever seen an AFL game live?

I would but then again, I support all things San Antonio.

Me, too. It looks like it'd be fun to go if it didn't break your wallet ... :)

They're literally giving away Desperados tickets here and they still can't get people to go.

I know a guy who plays for the LA Avengers, so we go when they play Dallas. He was in Austin over the weekend. Speaking of that, anyone with a hard on for Arena ball in SA oughta just head up I-35.

Sean is also playing center for the inmate team in the remake of the Longest Yard, along with a bunch of other Avengers players.

I WOULD SUPPORT AN AFL TEAM

I wouldn't mind supporting an AFL team if the prices were right. Now, that the prices went down for the Austin team, i'm thinking about going to a few games. I like the AFL game when you're near the action. if you're up in the rafters, it sucks if you're paying more than $10 bucks for a ticket.

I would.

But I really want an MLS team. I wanna see Landon Donovan, Freddy Adu, Marcus Beasley, etc etc come through SA. That would be SWEET.

Anyone know the status of an MLS team? I know Mayor Garza was working on it at one point and then it kind of dropped off the radar.

I would support a team too. I'm sure the tickets are reasonably priced like at a Rampage game. I hope someone pursues a team cause it looks fun to go to.

The status is: Soccer still sucks.

Neocon,

Chivas wanted to put a team in San Antonio, but then opted for LA becuase they can share a soccer-specific facility with the Galaxy.

Seattle, Cleveland, San Antonio, Houston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Portland, Phoenix and Minneapolis are the finalists for two expansion teams in 2006. Supposedly Phoenix and Houston are the frontrunners.

How can a league with worse attendance than the WNBA actually be expanding?

Check out the next MLS game you see on tv. You can count the fans in the stands. Usually on one hand.

Id support an AFL team.

Would be a great thing to go to between Spurs games, and nothin else to do in the end of winter Spring time.

I don't understand expansion either. I would guess that Arena football outdraws MLS for the most part, since Orlando, Tampa, and Phoenix sell out quite a few of their games.

People here in the US really want soccer to make it as a mainstream sport. With the demise of hockey, there's a definite race to take soccer to the next level here.Personally, it bores me, but I never seriously played or followed soccer. It's funny, but one can make an argument that basketball has now surpassed soccer as the #1 global sport.

I actually did go to a game and I didn't get into it much and didn't like it.
I tried it and it just wasn't for me. :drunk

It does look fun. Throw cheap into the mix and I'm there. Hell, I attended countless Las Vegas Stars (Padres AAA farm team) baseball games when I lived in Vegas. The tickets were only 4 bucks a pop. It was free if you came after the 5th innning.

Just a word of advice for all you single guys out there. It's also a great place to take a date. :hat
