Mahinmi update: Injured center Ian Mahinmi has begun treadmill work and could be ready for basketball activities in November, Popovich said.

Because Mahinmi has missed all of camp with a sprained right ankle, the Spurs have not ruled out sending him to their Development League affiliate in Austin to open the season.

“At some point in November, he could be playing — either here or in Austin, I don’t know which,” Popovich said. “I do think he’ll be on the court competing before Manu will.”

what kind of sprain keeps you out this long, missed the entire pre-season? I wasn't aware it was something that was keeping him out this long. I thought he'd play in the pre season, I had high hopes for Ian.

He could be ready for basketball activities by November? We really needed to see where he was at to give some clarity to our strengths and weaknesses at the post position. This injury seems to be worse then we imagined.

You guys act like you've never seen a Spur with this injury.

Are you saying Ian is Beno part 2?

I could just as easily say he is Manu part 2.

Fuck, Splitter will be starting before Ian even cracks the rotation.

It sounds like you know more about the injury than I do. I thought it was only an ankle sprain.

Judging by his statements and summer league play, I think Ian might kill himself if he is with the Toro's to start the year.

That's nice, because many of us felt the same when we heard he was injured again.

Everyone heals differently. Hopefully he's almost back.

I don't want to call Mahinmi the reincarnation of Beno but these numerous injuries and slow healing times make me suspicious.

Guy is built like a giraffe with long thin legs and no muscle weight in comparison to his height. I suspect he may always be an injury baby.

Is this guy another Dwayne Schintzius?

(And what was so bad about Watkins?)

I think we had some games against Boerne.
