If it's October, it must be NBA Predictions season (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/If_its_October_it_must_be_NBA_Predictions_season.h tml)

Ready or not, the Long Slog to June (the roundball version; the icy version already has started) gets under way tonight with the tip-off of the NBA season.
Designed to coincide with the one week of fall in South Texas, the NBA openers also have prompted the experts in the prediction business to post their musings online. Here's a sampling:
Over at ESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/), Scoop Jackson finally has given up on picking the Suns, jumping to the Houston Rockets' ship. The collected wisdom on the site's “Daily Dime,” though, favors the Lakers in the west and Celtics in the east. Now there's some folks sticking out those necks.
Take heart, Spurs fans, because they haven't written off Our Fab Five at SportsIllustrated.CNN.com (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/). Among the six NBA writers, Ian Thomsen picks the Spurs to win it all (beating the Celtics) and Marty Burns at least picks the Spurs to get to the finals, where he says they will lose to the Celtics. (That anachronism of sports, the printed version of SI, is picking the Spurs as well, waking up the sleepyheads at the forums of SpursReport.com.)
You have to suffer through a video at Yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com/)to find out what Adian Wojnarowski and Kenny Smith are predicting. SPOILER ALERT! We can save you having to listen to four-plus minutes of the talking heads to report that Smith picks the Rockets and Wojnarowski the Hornets in the division. END OF SPOILER ALERT! LIKE YOU CARE!
Over at HoopsWorld.com (http://www.hoopsworld.com/), blogger Joel Brigham has posted his “50 Predictions for the 08-09 Season,” with the note that “Last year I wrote this same column and it was far and away the most commented upon piece I've ever written for HoopsWorld. That, of course, means it was a rousing success.”
His comments, not ours.
Among his predictions, the MVP will go to LeBron James, Jerry Sloan of the Jazz will be the coach of the year and (gasp!) “The San Antonio Spurs won't make it out of the first round in June of 2009.”

As noted above WE ARE JUST THE MESSENGER HERE, so reserve your nasty e-mails for the authors of “You've been Ginobili'd!” at YouTube.com. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjd07JiMF88) Seems that some folks don't appreciate Our Manu's ability to look like he has been maimed by the slightest contact.
In any case, the video actually is pretty funny, and we're looking at this moment for a “You've been Ginobili'd!” coffee mug, featured on the video, which falls over without any provocation at all.
