I was excited when ESPN radio came around, but it's lame. The Ticket is a joke now and there's is NOTHING in the morning but syndication, cheesy Woody, and WEAK ASS Lisle and Hahn. So sad.

I knew the XM or Sirius post would come up. I refuse to pay for radio.

It's easy to yell "XM" and "SIRIUS!" the fact is that they are failing BIG TIME and it's not a secret. The city of NY has more people in it than Sirius/XM have subscribers nationally. How are they going to grow? Hand out free radios for people to sample the product? WRONG.
Now, the REAL issue. What happend to radio in San Antonio? it used to be more fun. There USED to be PERSONALITIES.

I'd rather pay 13 bucks a month for commercial free music than listen to 30 minutes of commercials every hour. And not to mention the same bland bullshit "rock" they play on every station.

I always said I wouldn't pay for radio; then I bought a car with a 3-month prepaid subscription to satellite radio -- it took about a week for me to convert; I've turned on the local radio about 6 times in 6 months (twice for Spurs preseason games).

I'd rather keep my $13 but then I don't listen to the radio unless I'm on the road and then I'm okay with what I get. I don't need to have hundreds of stations to choose. But hey that is just me and I'm one cheap SOB.

Tony Bruno leaving FSR.
I know that he just signed a deal, but I think they are having a hard time getting it launched into syndication.

I can't live without my Sirius.
Nothing sucks harder than driving between cities with nothing to listen to. Especially when the Spurs or Cowboys are on. Up until this season, the NBA was on Sirius, and now with the merger I can still get the games even though they moved to XM.
Sirius is worth EVERY penny, and I can't wait to get my hands on an ala carte tuner so I can get the Dale Jr. show and the Longhorns from XM.

ASF....
I truly believe that within a few years, almost all radio will be internet driven. Which means in newer model cars....people can just dial in the website of their favorite show and be able to tune in no matter where they are.
I can imagine in 10 years, people will say....remember when you used to get bad reception because you actually had to worry about the signal strength.

Listening to FM is hell after listening to satellite radio...

I used to be a loyal listener to sportstalk radio, but I have literally only listened a total of about 30 minutes or so in the past 2 months. At one time I thought Taylor had an opinion, but come to find out he's the gay lover of Jerry Jones. Reminds me way too much of why Mavs fan creeps me out. EPSN is an abomination except for a couple of the national guest.

I grew disenchanted with sat. radio. there seems to be a lot of variety, but they don't really stray too much from their formula. Say i like rocksteady, ska, and dub - they rarely play any of that on the reggae station. They just keep to the "hits" of each station for the most part, and it gets old. I mainly got it at first for the NBA stuff, but the free audio league pass made it redundant for me.

How are you going to get internet between cities? Sure there's cell signal in most heavily populated areas, but try getting your internet connection (for example) between Ozona and Ft. Stockton. Even AT&T (more bars in more places my ass) loses signal there, and between Van Horn and El Paso.
I'm sure Sirius/XM has a long term place in the market, even if it's not a big place. Hell, just with the trucker business they should be able to make it.

Like ASF I drive all over the place and now I have something to listen to besides CDs when I am driving around Fort Stockton.

How are you going to get internet between cities?
Maybe it's called on star? How else do you send and receive a signal to locate your automobile and have someone unlock your door?
The technology is already there, it's the FCC and homeland security that is delaying the process.

I asked that question a long time ago, then I got satellite in 03 and never looked back other than to AM sports talk and spurs games occasionally. Anyone have a Slacker portable? It's basically internet radio for free and you can take it in your car or anywhere. You just have to select your stations via internet and then refresh the channels about once a day through USB or Wifi. I believe they have these available now at Best Buy starting at $199 for the 2G one.
