I was one who has continually said for Rasho to shoot more and did not rag him for taking 10 shots last game. See also my post about Spur's angst and to stop the hate for him!
Rasho is all about confidence if he gets something out of this game might be huge for Spurs!!!
T Park
02-16-2005, 10:27 PM
IMO Rasho oughtta shoot about 16 times tonight.
hes shot about 10 times tonight already.
Shoot the ball Rasho go ahead, weve got confidence in you.
I garuntee that jumper will start falling.

Amazing. A less than overwhelming 10 points and 4 rebounds in a half and folks feel justified / smug / about Rasho's worth.
I haven't been one of the strident haters, but goddamn. Is the bar really this low for a fabulous first half?
GoldToe
02-16-2005, 10:34 PM
I like Rasho too.
Is he slow on his feet? Yes.
But I still think he is a good fit with Duncan.
Could be better, but who couldn't.

Thats terrible, just TERRIBLE. Right MIA/??
TOTAL EMBARASSMENT!!!!!!

TPark, you do realize I was joking right? You don't really have to denounce Rasho...was a joke man.
Mark in Austin
02-16-2005, 10:54 PM
Nope, not terrible. But the way some of you work yourselves into a lather every 14 or so games when Rasho, compared to his average performance level this year, has a good game is pretty tiresome at this point.
It is fucking pathetic to spew out these numbers as if Chamberlain or Kareem had just gone off for 25 in a half.
12/8/3 are good numbers. But it is not unreasonable to expect close to that level of performance on a consistant basis, not once a month.
Hell, I'd settle for 10/8/1.5.

Now that I think about it.
Name me a center in the NBA, that that is NOT a good line at halftime.
Other than Shaquille Oneal.
T Park

not once a month.
He had pretty good numbers before the MIami game.
11 boards and 2 blocks against Miami.
Terrible just terrible.

02-16-2005, 11:03 PM
Is it really that noteworthy that once every month or so, Rasho breaks out with an overwhelming 10 and 4 in a half.
Let's be honest here. I'm not saying Rasho is garbage, or we should trade him. All I'm saying is that maybe you need to step back and take a breath if you think 10 and 4 once a month, or even every fourth game is really that remarkable of an achievement.
T Park
02-16-2005, 11:05 PM
THIS ISNT ONCE A MONTH
Hes put together about 3 out of 4 games recently of good solid ball.
Quit with the once a month bs.
hes actually honestly, before the ankle injury, he was playing well before that.

Yeah if Only Rasho could act like a total jackass and get tossed out of a close game like Vince Carter.
Mark in Austin
02-16-2005, 11:20 PM
Over the past 5 games, Rash is averaging 7.0 pts 6.2 rebs .80 Blocks.
Since the beginning of January, he's had double digit rebounding games 5 times.
Since the beginning of January, he's scored in double figures once.
For the year, he's had 10 double digit rebounding games and six games scoring in double figures.
That means every 5.2 games we can count on at least 10 rebounds from our starting center. Once every 8.5 games we can count on 10 or more points from our starting center.
Mark in Austin
02-16-2005, 11:22 PM
That's weak.
Show me where is said "I wish Rasho was more like Vince Carter."
Aggie Hoopsfan
02-16-2005, 11:34 PM
Mark,
There is only eight guys in the league averaging 10 boards a game, and only two of them are centers. Setting the bar a little high, aren't we?
T Park
02-16-2005, 11:39 PM
Dont think I said you said it.
Im just saying. I wish Rasho was like Vince and consistently put up numbers, then got tossed out.
Cause, thats very important. Numbers ya know.
Of course his rebounding the last 3 games
8
11
8
9 boards a game.
Thats pretty good.
I think at the end of the year hell average about 8 boards a game, and 7 points.
Not alot of centers with better numbers.
Mark in Austin
02-16-2005, 11:46 PM
Hell, I'd settle for 10/8/1.5.
Not really, AHF. I think the bar has been set too low when 12/8/3 qualifies as a performance so good you can rub Rasho's critic's noses in it. It's a good game. Maybe even a very good game. I gave credit where credit was due.
But one very good game doesn't make up for a below average season, even when Rasho is only compared against himself. Rasho needs to start showing some consistency.

Rasho is a STIFF.
Mark in Austin
02-16-2005, 11:58 PM
T-Park, Rasho would need to average about 8.8 points and 9.5 rebounds a game for the rest of the season to raise his averages to 7 pts and 8 rebs per. That would be great if it happened, but I'm not holding my breath.
T Park
02-17-2005, 12:00 AM
of course not.
That would actually be a positive Rasho post.
Wich on this board, from Brewski, to Sequ, to everyone else would kill em.
12 8 3 from Brad Miller, and wed be hearing about how fuckin great he is.
Its Rasho??
Good, lets see more.

Cause, thats very important. Numbers ya know.
Applying the case of Vince Carter, (who is putting up numbers, but as you correctly pointed out is still a dipshit) when you reply to a post that quantifies offensive performance with stats is a false arguement. It implies that the only two options are:
Play like a puss, but don't make huge mistakes, (as it is now) or
put up big numbers, but not have a lick of common sense. (like Carter now)
Do you honestly think that these are the only two options out there? If so, then we really don't have anything more to discuss. If not, then stop desperately throwing out weak knee-jerk reactionary shit you've just pulled out of your ass, calm down, and write a resonable response.

OK, TPark. I'll back off. But I'd like to point out that the only thing ICB posted before you said that was he quoted my second post in this topic and then said "post of the month" underneath it. If you were responding to him, and he was echoing exactly what I said, does it matter who you are technically responding to, since we both said the same thing? Is it unreasonable to assume that your reply would apply to both of us?

how many of his hooks missed the rim? 2 or 3? more?
I think that shot is just a little beyond his athletic ability. His shot certainly has no feel for where the damn basket is.
But a very good game from Rasho, it's only drawback being that it IS noteworthy. His variability, and sub-MIN avg's, remain a mystery.

Rasho had a good game last night. I was watching it so I didn't post aboput it till now. The hook shots looked bad. He needs to avoid those like his soft put backs. I have always given Rasho credit when he has had a good game. Those don't happen every night, or even every other night. He needs to find some more consistency and more effort.
Rasho's numbers: 12 points (6-12), 8 boards, 1 steal, 3 blocks
Rose's numbers: 12 points (5-10,2-2), 15 boards, 1 steal, 2 blocks
