This is pretty sad though. They are so government dependent they can't comprehend spending money to keep your home repaired.

Fucking pathetic.

They have no ownership so why spend money to fix something that isn't theirs. That's the whole problem with governement control.

It's funny (and sad) that when you show all the "good" Obama has done for his own constituents the Obamabots revert to their standard argument...Racism!

I agree to a point but as a renter, there is a point where I'm not going to pay for the repairs to the duplex I rent. I've done countless improvements out of my own pocket but a mice infestation and broken windows should be done by the property manager.

It sounds like the property manager is just keeping the cash and the residents don't take good care of the property, either.

Good video. So your solution, I'm guessing, is legislation requiring private developers to use subsidies for repairs or other maintenance/expansion costs and proving they have done so? If not, what is it?

If it's free you have no right to complain.

4 sides, a roof, and cardboard windows are great when you have nothing else.

So the contributors to Obama don't manage the place anymore and the buildings are being demolished. That's the kind of thing that should happen when Section 8 housing doesn't meet federal standards.

Anything else?

The broken windows, mouse infestation, leaky doors are not the PROBLEM!

Weakening these people, and their future generations, by simply giving them fish is what is happening.

THIS is why people get very angry when they hear "spread the wealth". They know the government is a bunch of fuck ups who aren't really looking for change. Just dependence to get more votes.

All he can do is play his weak little game.

ChumpDumper

And there are plenty of perfectly adequate examples of Section 8 housing. You probably don't even notice it when you drive by them.

Subsidized.

Subsidized.Privately owned.

I will certainly agree that the ownership and management of that particular complex sucked.

So what? You're acting like every Section 8 property looks like this. That's simply not true.

No, I'm acting like this housing in Obama's district managed by Obama's buddies looks like this. Change we can believe in, yes we can, yes we can :rolleyes. Now if you want to provide some better examples of his legislative accomplishments, feel free.

I'm also acting like if you have to provide housing for people then it would be better to just give a check to them so they could choose where to live rather than building housing for them and forcing them to live in it. Similar to the voucher idea with education, but I'm sure your against that too. Libs only favor choice when it comes to the topic of abortion. Of course that might allow them to move out of the run down district and keep them from voting for the hand that feeds them, we can't have that can we. Gotta keep'em poor.

Now if you want to provide some better examples of his legislative accomplishments, feel free.Section 8 is a federal program that originated in 1937. It's a little before Obama's time, but don't let the facts get in the way of your argument.

I'm also acting like if you have to provide housing for people then it would be better to just give a check to them so they could choose where to live rather than building housing for them and forcing them to live in it.You described the advantages of Section 8 subsidies over straight public housing very well. The building is privately owned and managed. Section 8 pays a portion of the tenants' rents, and they require that the units meet certain inspection standards, but they don't place tenants and they have zero impact on how the building itself is maintained.

I worked in property management for ten years and we managed many Section 8 units. When you have owners that are invested in maintaining their buildings, you attract tenants who are more interested in keeping the building clean, and it can be a very good program. If the owner just wants to make a quick buck, you attract crappy tenants and are constantly fighting with the Housing Authority. Some of our very best, and very worst, tenants were on Section 8.

It's a good thing the Republicans ended public housing once and for all when they had control of all branches of government.

I don't know what I missed, but section 8 housing is owned by private individuals or businesses and rent is subsidized by the government to the owner(s). Not meeting the section 8 requirements is a ridiculous reason to demolish a place. The apartments I lived in some years ago were just fine, but didn't meet section 8 requirements. The new owner was rather upset because he was counting on a steady flow of government placed residence and a guaranteed income. There was nothing wrong with the place. It just doesn't meet high enough standards for poor people to live in, yet it's good enough for hard working people!

Section 8 housing is welfare for both occupants and owners and should not exist as it does today!

It was the Owners responsibility to take care of the section 8 apartments in the video. It was built for such a purpose, right? If that contention is correct, the reason it no longer qualifies if because Obama's slumlord friend never kept it in proper repair. This condition was there when his friend owned it. Was it Resco?

Valarie Jarrett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Jarrett) is a senior advisor to the 2008 Obama campaign. She is the CEO of The Habitat Company that owns (or owned) the buildings in the video. I guess it was very recently sold. In either case, she is the responsible party for the condition of the Grove Parc units. A slumlord as a close Obama advisor. Will he treat the USA as a slumlord?

Actually not the same thing at all, which I'm sure you know, but let's hear your reasons why the Section 8 housing in the video are providing "advantages" to those tenants.

And what exactly is it about Obama's track record that makes you think he will make your life better?

That can happen whether a place is Section 8 or not. If you produce evidence that most Section 8 complexes are in that condition, you might have a point. You can't and you don't.

And what exactly is it about Obama's track record that makes you think he will make your life better?I never said Obama would make my life better. I'll be fine either way.
