Obama is aware of the food prices rising around the world, and ethanol being one of the reasons because of this. However, he supports subsidies with the ethanol business, as the 2005 bill as shown. Will he actually back pedal and reduce govt. funding to such stupid services, or will he continue with it?

Asked about his support for ethanol during a press conference at a gas station in Indianapolis in April, Obama was remarkably candid in explaining why he backed the subsidies: "Look, I've been a strong ethanol supporter because Illinois ... is a major corn producer," he said. He went on to say that he was concerned about reports that ethanol was helping drive up food prices, and that he saw ethanol as merely a transitional option that would eventually give way to biofuels that were more efficient and has less of an impact on food prices, such as ones made out of switchgrass.

Seems pretty practical for a senator from a corn growing state.

corn ethanol and soy biodiesel are huge disasters. I strongly disagree with any support for either boondoggle, which are really gifts to the agriculture/farm lobby and do nothing to make USA self-sufficient.
