Will the Spurs gain the upper hand, without playing tonight? Dallas has slight lead in the first half at 32-28. Good game so far.

I bet on the over at 229.5, so what do they do? They are playing defense like the Spurs and Rockets, for once. :cuss

Marion got a nose boo boo.

It's almost as though it's a 10 second shot clock. Talk about early offense!

Manu20
02-17-2005, 11:41 PM
The Mavs are shorthanded missing Dampier and Stackhouse.
IMO Dirk needs to have a huge game for the Mavs to win.

Solid D
02-17-2005, 11:43 PM
It's sort of odd. When Nellie went with Armstrong, Howard, Finley, Dirk and Shawn Bradley in there, they were playing D and deeper into the shot clock. That's when the Mavs were doing the best.

Jimcs50
02-17-2005, 11:45 PM
I am fucked.

Dallas is throwing up more bricks than a Houston- SA game

Solid D
02-17-2005, 11:46 PM
If the Mavs could just do what the Spurs do and defend the perimeter half-way plus keep Amare from taking that pass while slashing in from the FT line, they'd be okay.

Jimcs50
02-17-2005, 11:47 PM
Fuck!!!!!

Solid D
02-17-2005, 11:48 PM
Spare me. A bankshot from straight on by Amare at buzzer.

Jimcs50
02-17-2005, 11:48 PM
Now I need a 70-70 2nd half to win bet....Fucking Dallas hit 1 of their last 15 shots and had 6 TOs...they are sucking big dicks tonight.

Manu20
02-17-2005, 11:50 PM
Suns lead 55 to 45.
Come on Mavs!

Solid D
02-17-2005, 11:51 PM
I think Dallas went 5 minutes there without a rebound. :lol

Jimcs50
02-17-2005, 11:52 PM
Actually Dallas is only 3 back of SA, so first and foremost, Spurs need to lock down that 2nd seed, then worry about staying up with Phoenix. Better that these two teams win on their home courts against each other.

T Park

They are 5 and a half up on them chief.

Duff McCartney

Dallas is 5.5 games behind the Spurs Jim...not 3.

Manu20
02-17-2005, 11:58 PM
San Antonio 41 12 0
Dallas 34 16 5.5

5.5 games back :)

The point is the same...Spurs need to win division first, that will get them HCA in first 2 rounds if they get 2 seed.

whottt
02-18-2005, 12:20 AM
Um Jimbo...we already are in first place in the division, we cannot get any higher. Now would be the time to play for HCA.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 12:28 AM
Interesting how Dallas is just using Finley as a perimeter jump shooter. Has Finley become Dan Marley? Athletic leaper and scorer early in career...outside ace in the Autumn of his career?

Solid D
02-18-2005, 12:34 AM
What's with the luck shots at the end of periods? Now Nash throws one in falling under the basket with under a second left in traffic.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 12:44 AM
Finley is spotting up and nailing it from the outside tonight. Incredible. Tied at 91. They finally got Booth in there to get some rebounds, Armstrong to play some D on Nash and what do you know? Mavs back in it.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 12:52 AM
Nowitzki takes it strong and draws Amare's 5th foul. Nice thinking on Dallas' part. Now Amare sits for a few minutes trailing by 5.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 12:53 AM
Finley is just totally on fire from the arc. :wow

Solid D
02-18-2005, 12:59 AM
Darrell Armstrong has made such a huge difference on defense for the Mavs.

Finley for 3 AGAINNN!!! Dude. No one within 20 feet of him.

milkyway21
02-18-2005, 12:59 AM
Suns 11 pts ONLY 4th Qtr? so the Mavs CAN actually play defense, huh?

Solid D
02-18-2005, 01:00 AM
4:29 left 107-99. Amare still sitting.

Armstrong, Finley and Howard actually playing decent D and without Amare in there, Dallas is playing tighter on the other players.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 01:08 AM
Booth wide open from Finley.

Amare for the and 1. They great ones always get the roll, don't they?

Finley with the shot clock down to 1 fadeaway in the corner, Bang!! 2 pointer.

What a tough shot that was! 113-106 Dallas with 42 sec. left.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 01:12 AM
Nash patient even under pressure D, takes it all the way in and the smoke clears for the layup.

Finley fouled intentionally following Dallas breaking the full court press. 2 FTs good.

whottt
02-18-2005, 01:13 AM
The Mavs look pretty damn good.

They are just ho-hum wiping the floor with the Suns down the stretch like the Suns are the Bobcats or something.

And since when is Calvin Booth Amare Stoudamire?

milkyway21
02-18-2005, 01:13 AM
25 min left 4th 115-108 Mavs.

It's over.

Solid D
02-18-2005, 01:15 AM
Not so fast. Q hits a 3 from the top of the circle with 18 sec. left. 115-111

I just fell off my back porch and fear that I now have a visible injury - my right (face) cheek seems to have swollen to the point that my right eye is semi-closed. Now, this makes me think about the injuries suffered by any number of NBA players. Ankles, knees, tendonitis, etc.
I am going to have to appear at work tomorrow with some type of visible injury. I am also going to have to explain why I look the way I most certainly will.
I will go to work; I will keep on trucking; isn't that what we need to do? :angel

Solid D
02-18-2005, 01:18 AM
Amare takes a 3 from the top? Rims out, Howard reb. and fouled with 14.4 left.

2 FTs by Howard good. 117-111.

Barbosa scores layup quickly but no time runs off clock?? Okay they set clock at 9.4 now.

Terry fouled. 2 FTs good 119-113.

Amare misses corner 3 it's over.

The Mavericks are the second best team in the NBA. If they avoid playing the Spurs in the Playoffs, they will win the Championship.

They are 2-0 vs. Miami this year. Erick Dampier is one of the best in the league at guarding Shaq. If healthy, I'd take Dallas in 6 over Miami.

Mia is not that good. And extended series play no longer helps Shaq as it once did...he wears down now...especially by the finals.

back to All-Star Break Record:

...Mavericks rally from a 10-point halftime deficit for a 119-113 victory over Phoenix on Thursday night.

The loss dropped the Suns to 41-13 and denied them an opportunity to finish with the best record in the NBA before the All-Star break. Instead, that honor goes to the idle San Antonio Spurs (41-12).

Dallas (35-16) completed a perfect four-game trip with the victory. The Mavericks beat three of the league's elite -- Phoenix, Sacramento and Seattle,
(hmmn, note : NO S.A.)

We're back on TOP. :elephant

TO Spurs All-Star participants-Timmy,Manu,Benu,Coach Pops & Coach PJ: GOOD LUCK, GUYS!

Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We gave them 74 points and that is way too many. We weren't clicking on offense and defensively we didn't play well enough."

I didn't know D'antoni knew what that was. Or Cared for that matter.

Even with Nash's injury = serious fade!

By 3 points...I went to read after haltime because I thought the bet was hopeless...I should never underestimate Phoenix' lack of D.

Just because they beaten Miami 2-0 does not mean they can beat them in the playoffs.Past few years SPURS lost to the grizzs and the mavs. 3-1 the SPURS came back beat them in the playoffs.Does this mean the expansion BOBCATS beat the Rockets this year 2-0 will they beat them in the finals the answer is NO. Whoever is playing better basketball and have luck on their side will win the NBA title you have to realize luck is part of basketball when it comes to the playoffs. :smokin

I didn't say it did. I'm saying the Mavs can beat Miami in the Playoffs because they are better. The 2-0 regular season record is merely evidence of this.

The "D" is back in Dallas. They have a player who can handle each of Miami's scoring threats. Meanwhile, Miami has to hope Udonis Haslem can keep Dirk from lighting it up... For the first time in years, I think the defensive advantage is on the Mavs' side.
