All right, Antonio Mcdyess may be available as an FA if Denver buys him out. However, management at Denver has said that they have no intentions of doing so. This thread is dedicated to the possibilities of trading for him from Denver. There are 2 considerations:

1) Timing - He can be traded as an individual (not packaged with any other player from Denver's roster) from Denver for 1 week after his Detroit-Denver trade. Otherwise, trades will have to wait until Jan 30, 2009.

2) Money - McDyess currently earns $6,500,000, and will earn $6,836,000 next year. This implies that the minimum contracts to be traded to Denver for him must be worth a minimum of $5,120,000 and a maximum of $8,225,000. Denver may well be willing to trade him for salary relief (they are well over the lux cap and are paying 2 for 1 for every dollar above, plus no disbursement of tax money at the end of the year).
(Salary data from http://www.storytellerscontracts.info/resources/08-09salaries.htm )

Due to the CBA, it is very difficult to assemble a workable package for McDyess this week (too many of the SA contracts were signed at the start of this season, meaning the player cannot be traded until 15 Dec 08...).

Therefore, it is likely that SA would at least have to wait until Jan 30, 2009 to trade for McDyess. At that point a variety of packages work financially -
KT + Udoka
KT + Vaughn
KT + Farmer + Tolliver

or Packages centered around Bonner -

Bonner + Udoka + Vaugh + Farmer/Tolliver

In all cases, I am assuming that some players (eg. Vaughn, Udoka, Farmer and/or Tolliver) received by Denver would be bought out/waived to make roster space (and save cash)...

Why the hell would you want to include Udoka in any deal? All the while knowing he's the first swingman off the bench and especially with Bowen nearing the end of his career?

To make the CBA work. Especially if we can pull a 2nd Brent Barry type trade (ie. he gets bought out and comes back to us). Note that he expires this year... If Udoka accepted a pre-arranged buyout from DEN, he would then collect a close to double salary for the remainder of the year...

Gentlemen, there is this thing called the Collective Bargaining Agreement... As I mentioned in the initial post (barring exceptions), the Spurs would need to send at least $5,120,000 worth of salary to the Nugg's to make a trade for McDyess work - KT is only making $4,200,000...

McDyess can be traded by himself at every moment. There isn't a one week rule.
McDyess can be packaged with other players 2 month after teh trade that is to say January 3rd 2009.

McDyess currently earns $6,500,000, and will earn $6,836,000 next year.

Shamsport + espn trade machine + realgm trade machine is the best way to get accurate salaries.
Mcdyess salary was $6,813,050 for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
You had to add a 10% trade kicker (it's, in fact, a tad less because the season has still started).
His salary is $7,484,336 for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
Your trades don't work under the CBA.

Roster space must be done before the trade. If a team does a 1 for 3 trade, this team has to have two roster spots available before the trade. This team can't do a 1 for 3 trade with one or zero roster spot, even if the team waives one or two of the players acquired in the trade.

Well, that leaves either Bonner or KT. I won't miss either, but Denver needs bigs, any bigs.

Such a pre-arranged agreement before a trade happening would appear to be collusion and likely in violation of the CBA.

I say no to this trade, dude is decent, but he is old, hes on the decline of his career. we would be going in the wrong direction.

Mcdyess is not old. Hes oldER. Not a beast like he used to be but is still very athletic and fast for his age.

No championship team would reject having him on thier team.
