I think this was a good speech. This should not have been a rally type speech. This was very much like a president talking to his people.

In my opinion, it was not as emotional as people would expect but I think for the circumstances, this was the right speech.

He should have walked in with the song "Can a Nigga get a table dance?" blaring out the speakers.

That would have been perfect.

I agree with this. He thanked who he needed to thank, got a little emotional in parts without going overboard, and made it clear that there's a lot of work to be done to get the country back on track.

Obama is such a good speaker that I think people expect him to touch their emotions deeply all the time. However, there are times when he just needs to speak with a message, not necessarily try to get people to bring out the pom poms. He did that.

This speach was unifying; he spoke to ALL Americans, and promised to be a President for ALL of us.

That was encouraging.

Clinton's, in '92, was NOT like that.

Also, the choice of music after the speach was a glaring difference between the two President - Elects.

No balloons, no streamers, no rubbing it in.

I am still a staunch conservative, and still believe the U.S. govt. is the most bloated and wasteful entity that has EVER existed;

however,

I am optimistic.

I thought it was a very good speech. If it was a little sober it was recognition that we have a real mess to clean up. He wants to draw in those that did not vote for him. When Bush got cocky was when I detested him the most.

I was expecting an epic speech that would could potentially go into the history books. But it ended up being the most boring speech I've ever heard from Obama. Not at all what I expected.

But thinking about it, he did a good job of trying to bring the Obamatards back to reality, trying to get the McCainiacs to give him a chance and mixed in some politicking for 2012. It was probably pretty effective, although if he was going that route I would have nixed that Yes We Can gimmick at the end of the speech.

I was so fucking high and drunk when I watched his speech last night. I thought at the time that it was the most amazing speech I had ever seen, like Obama was talking to me in a way no other President really has.

It'll be funny to watch it again now that I'm sobered up.

I think it was pretty lame...i think if any time was a time for one of his barn burner speeches, that was it...it fell way short.

I did accomplish the goals though, so i guess thats good. Just wasnt another "MLK" type moment for me, even though he tried to incorporate the "yes we can / i have a dream" type tone to it.

??? I thought her dress was amazing. I'd wear it in a heartbeat. She always dresses classy IMHO. I think she has a great sense of style.

I also liked how the entire family was in red & black. It made for some striking photos.

The following article discusses both sides of the issue and shows photos.

The list/yes we can thing was a bit too campaign rhetoric for me, but I sincerely wanted to believe him when he said "For those who did not vote for me, I've heard your voice, and I hope to reach across and represent you as well"

I hope so too Barack.
