THAT IS ENOUGH. I have had it with him after tonight. Get on the bench for the rest of the season. If you can trade him that would be ideal.

I've been saying this since we re-signed him..

DON'T PLAY HIM AT ALL!!

he's completely useless..he hasn't scored off the dribble in years..terrible passer, doesn't even give an effort on defense..

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED AT THE END OF THE GAME?! isn't he supposed to be a veteran?!..wow, that was one of the stupidest players I've ever seen..

at the very least, LIMIT HIS MINUTES. It's a fucking no-brainer. Popovich is acting like an idiot.

The only way Finley is getting benched is if he gets injured. Pop's mancrush on him will be the downfall of this team. I'm grateful that Pop knew when to bench Bowen, but Finley deserves less minutes than Bonner......well almost.

Bench Finley (play Udoka and Farmer more). Trade or, at a minimum, bench Bonner. Play Hill as full-time backup PG. Waive Vaughn and sign any available post player.

That might not solve all our problems. But it's a good start.

somebody needs to find out what Finley has on Pop..there's no way he doesn't have some secret information..

Resigning Finley was the worst move of the summer - I said it over and again. Hell, you could see that Fin was done during the regular season last year - he had 10 good games all year, and the fact that he hit some shots in the playoffs saved his arse.

I'd rather see Hairston on the court than Finley.

PS No disrespect for a great career, but my lord, the guy should have retired.

Finley will be benched in time. Right now, the Spurs need Mason off the bench.

I'll take it one step further. I wonder why Pop resigned him in the first place. By now, you know what you will get and mostly what you wont get from this guy.

As odd as this may sound to some, I'd rather take my chances on a guy like Malik Hairston. A guy who hustles, plays defense and can score. I could easily live with his rookie mistakes of commission, rather than continue force-feeding minutes to Finley. An over-the-hill veteran, who routinely blows defensive assignments, can't rebound or create his own shot, and is such an inconsistent shooter.

Dude is a supreme liability and Pop seems to be the only one who wont admit it. Pop's blind over-reliance of aging vets like him is hurting the team.

I have to agree. Bench Finley. He doesn't have anything left in the tank, so might as well give his minutes to young players that need burn.

Nah, I'm smart...but someone who TRIES to be funny all the time defeats their own purpose.

Still, funny quote.

He should be benched now TiMVP. Why isn't Ime getting more court time? I don't see why Ime can't start in Michael's place and get more minutes. Even if he doesn't score he does one thing not many players on the Spurs do - REBOUND. I really think Ime could start with Bruce, that way you can keep Mason on the bench.

Mase has been awesome.

Manufan909

Mason is the second best rebounder on the team right now, PER wise. HE has 2 less than KT in way less minutes, unless I'm mistaken. Play, Farmer, please!!!!

Why bench or be mad at Finley? Its pop who keeps bringing him back and putting him in. Mike doesnt say.....Ok Im starting tonight and Ill head to the bench after I miss a few shots.....Thats all on Pop.

I would think so. But if tony keeps putting up numbers like he is, then it keeps us in the games. If we have a chance at winning the game, Pop will use what he is used to. He will not let a win get by while Manu is out, just cos we want to see the rooks get some time in.

I highly doubt Finley will be starting once Ginobili comes back. Either Pop will start Ginobili or Mason at that point.

Still, it's a shame to see him starting now...I'd thought I'd seen the last of it after last season :depressed

What kills me is I see A LOT of teams inserting their young players in to get them acclimated to their system. I understand wins are priceless in the conf we are in but c'mon.

BTW, is there any other seven footer that get's his shot blocked more often than Fab? OMG!!!

It's early, but I wonder if Pop has second thoughts about re-signing Michael?

Michael would understand, esp in the Nov-Jan period, if Pop gives the young guys some of Michael's PT. It's not as if Michael were getting paid per minute played. :)

Give me another week and if Finley isn't consistently hitting his jumpers, then I'll jump on the "bench Finley" bandwagon. I still think he has some good left in him, but right now it isn't showing. Right now, if anyone had to start in place for Finley, I would pick Farmer. I know he's the least experienced out of the 2 guards we have, but I would rather have him starting, and have some scorers like Mason, and sometimes Finley.

trade Udoka! This guys was a favorite of mine for most of last season. This preseason, and so far in the regular season, he hasn't done anything in my opinion. I truly think Farmer should take Udoka's place in the lineup.

Couldn't we have offered Finley's money and some of the other money to someone else who was a FA? I feel bad for the guy, but Pop needs to do something about Finley quick.

1Parker1
11-06-2008, 10:09 AM
It's not Finley's offense or jumpshot I'm worried about...it's his horrible defense and lack of lateral movement due to age.

I was pissed when they resigned him. I mean, like, legitmately, throwing a vase to see it shatter because my anger is so intense pissed off. Terrible idea. And he's bearing that terrible idea out.

UGH.

He's always had horrible defense. That was no surprise. The lateral movement is a concern. But at least he was contributing on offense for awhile.

Now he's an offensive liability as well as a defensive liability. Why is he still playing for them, let alone starting for them? I mean, yeah, injuries, but :bang.

Do you think he is in the dog house after almost costing us the game or will he be ok because we won??
