It’s early, but not too early for Tim Duncan to assert himself. With Manu Ginobili on the shelf until December, the former two-time MVP is off to a sizzling start.

Duncan averaged 29.5 points in San Antonio’s first two games. Yes, the Spurs lost both, but the output is significant. Duncan scored 19.3 points per game last season, the second-lowest average of his career.

“I’m getting more shots,” he said. “With Manu down, that’s going to come with the territory. I’m going to have to score a little bit more to fill that void, and shots are just going down.”

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called on Duncan to score more before the season started. Not only is he doing just that, his efficiency should also be noted. Duncan has converted on 25 of 40 attempts, a shooting percentage of 62.5.

The best scoring season of Duncan’s career was 25.5 points in 2000-01.http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AgKlK7xg9RFkZG3iokRvszmM0bYF?slug=teamre ports-2008-nba-sas&prov=sportsxchange&type=team_report

seems like the spurs are putting more energy into the offensive system than defense which is killing us, cause they know no one is stepping up from the bench and role players...duncan and parker will get theres, mason playing good atm, we dont care if he has a shit game as long his stats > finley + bowen + bonner which isnt hard to beat
