I haven't eaten a LuAnn platter since I was about 7 years old, but I notice the price the other night......

$8

You....have....got....to.... be.....kidding.....me.

8 bucks for a half of that little fish plank, 10 green beans and 3 pieces of fried okra.

I'm gonna have to tell my 90 year old grandma "sorry, but if you want fish, your butt is getting Long John Silvers"

We would eat there quite often when I was little at Central Park Mall. Then me and my brother would eat fast and run accross to play at the arcade.

Haven't been there in a long time. I would walk out paying 35+ for two adults and one child. No more, not worth it.

Last time I ate there was about a year and a half ago with some church sponsors. Damn right those old farts had Luanne platters. :lol

I liked Wyatt's so much better. That was the highlight of Ingram Park Mall when I was little. That and the pet store (we got two cats from there).

............. Ingram Park Mall when I was little.

I remember I threw up at King Wah, old schoolers should know that place, once from the outside "patio" allllllllll the way to the restroom. i remember it looking distinctively like hot dog chili.......no beans.

No freaking way :wow

I haven't eaten at a Luby's in 20 years, but for what you get that sounds awful. Have they done anything to improve since the late 80s?

They closed the Luby's at Rigsby and 410. I never could figure out who over there could afford to eat there.

who the hell in their right mind would go eat at lubeys in the first place

Now they have waiters and you are put in a situation where you should leave a tip.

Back in the day they used to have ladies pushing carts that walked on by refilling your drinks and walked the hell on.

I heard that a Luby's manager can clear over a 100 grand a year. Ain't that a bitch!

That's what I would always get when my grandparents took me there when I was a kid. Went a few months back when I visited by granddad in the hospital and I was kind of surprised that they have wait staff now.

It's the worst bullshit I've ever seen and the reason that I don't eat there anymore.

You stand in line, get your own food and drink, stand in line to pay, carry your own tray to your table and then some asshole walks up and says, "Hi, I'm Asshole and I'll be your server today."

I'm convinced Luby's does this so their "servers" can bus the tables and only be paid server wages.

Awesome.

I havent' been in a long time but fuck paying 8 dollars for a Lu Ann. Thats outrageous.

My sister and I took my dad to the one on Walzem for his birthday earlier this year. Why? Because he INSISTED that's where he wanted to go. We came to the conclusion he wanted to save us money, because it's freaking Luby's...can't be expensive can it? 4 dinners, 3 teas, and a water...$48. Fuck me, we coulda gone to Chili's and got that big chocolate fudge thing and a couple of beers for that much!

And my dad wanted green beans, which of course, they were currently out of, but "if you take this number to your table, we'll bring them right out!"...right out, yeah right. She should have said "we'll bring them out right before you're ready to leave", because that's when they showed up.

Fuck Luby's, and fuck Skip "I can't go to jail, I'm in a wheelchair because I tried to kill my stupid ass and failed after I got busted with kiddie porn" Wenglein. You were a shitty band director, asshole!

yeah, I've had that chick 'wait' on me too.....

I could be wrong, but I think that it's the same one that waits on you at Pizza Hut or any Chinese restaurant during buffet hours.

The last time I went to Luby's was good for me. Food was okay. There was some guy playing a baby grand piano so loud you couldn't have a conversation. But my 10 yr old entered the "Luby's Spurs Ball Kid" contest while we were there and he won! He got a bunch of Spurs prizes, and we got 4 great lower level (7th row) seats to the Spurs-Lakers game. And I've got some kickass photos of him walking onto center court to present the game ball, with Kobe standing in the background! He also got to stand out there and high five the Spurs as they came out of the tunnel.

Lol. I was in the south Bay Galleria in Hawthorne, and I saw him. I was staring at him, and he saw me and looked away. I was pissed. Was the summer he left, too. He goes to crappy areas so people can stare at him.

Luby's has REALLY gone downhill since Pappas bought them. First they did away with the steam tables on the serving line and went to heat lamps so the food is dried out and cold. Portions are smaller and cost more. There are several sit down restaurants like the Black Eyed Pea that give a much better value for the dollar along with full service...

Pappas doesn't really give a shit about Luby's. They just bought them when the stock was super cheap as a real estate play. They are just keeping them open for the income on the property kind of like why people put up mini-storages on investment property till the land gets sold for big bucks for the new shopping mall...

the only Luby's worth going to now is the one on Walzem rd where they offer all you can eat. At least I think they still got it going from when I use to live out that way. Man, they had everything. You went in like usual, went through the line and then when you sat down and wanted more to eat, you just told your waiter/waitress that you wanted more food and they'd bring you back what you asked for without you having to get up. Man do I miss that. Only thing that comes close to that now is Furrs Cafeteria up the road in San Marcos where they always have all you can eat.

I didn't see old man at the baby grand. In fact, Ive been a few times in the last couple of years and haven't seen him.

I think his pay was that he got his meal for half off, so he had to quit because he couldn't afford to work there any more.

I ate there a couple of weeks ago with my wife and kid.............Kids meals are no longer free on Sunday either........well, my bill came to $42! I was like WTF? These were Luianne platters with only a desert.

One thing I hate about Luby's now is their menu changed. They used to serve cafateria style food.......beef tip with gravy poured over rice, enchiladas, cheese steaks, twice cooked potatoes...........now they have this designer food....... chicken with harmalaid sauce and augraten potatoes with roasted huckleberry nuts.....I didnt go to Luby's for that SHIT!

I ate there a few times when I first moved down to SA because everyone talked about it and I did like the food but realized the nickel and diming for every item was costly and I stopped going.

When I was at Ed White, (back when dinosaurs roamed the earf), the assistant band director was a giant douchebag named Skip Wenglein. Dude was very proud of the fact that he was the son of the owner (at the time) of Luby's.

A few years ago, Douchebag Wenglein got popped for having a PC full of kiddie pr0n. Knowing he was about to go into the big house, where he was going to be assraped for the next 20 years, Douchebag tried to ventilate his gray matter, but instead of offing himself, he turned himself into a vegetable. His lawyers tried to argue that Douchebag shouldn't be assraped because he was confined to a wheelchair. I think he's being bent over by his cellmate as we speak.
