Seemed to me like Yao's shot took more than 1.9 seconds, but what do I know.

it did. they stopped the clock when he released it. the clock also didnt start when the rockets hit a FG with 40 seconds left added about 3-4 seconds. (blazers were at mid-court when it started)
clock also didnt start exactly on time when Roy touched it on the last shot.
but w/e it was a fun game to watch... not worried rockets still not playing good but staying in games.

Portland season ticket holder here. :)

Would like to make two points about the Lakers game Portland played to put the two wins in perspective for you.

1. Portland was going into the game with a line-up that we hadn't practiced with at ALL in the preseason.

Blake
Roy
Outlaw
Aldridge
Oden

Outlaw is a great player, but he plays what I like to call Outlaw basketball. Outlaw basketball doesn't consist of driving, slashing, passing, defense, rotations or anything. Outlaw basketball consists of waiting for the other team to make a shot then taking a pull up 18ft jumper from the right side of the court.

He can make it quite a bit, but we might as well be playing 5 on 1. But when he's on fire, it all works out... so sometimes Portland will live and die by Outlaw's jumper, and McMillian hasn't decided to come down hard on him about it yet.

2. We played 13 minutes of basketball with a Center who was running on a sprained foot. This matters a LOT more than you think.

These two things combined would have guaranteed a loss against a team like the Lakers... add in off shooting from both Roy and Aldridge and you guarantee a blowout loss.

Now our next two losses we actually both had double digit leads in during the second half that we blew, and in both Outlaw played Outlaw basketball.

It was so bad after the Utah game, and the difference in his game tonight was so drastic that I can only imagine the coaches sat him down and grilled him... Because Outlaw came out trapping players on defense, slashing and moving on offense, and pulled down 13 rebounds.

I don't expect to lose more than one game against the Lakers this season, and not by more than 8.

:toast

The Spurs didn't lose against a team that much worse than the Lakers, we just had everything go wrong, and we're still gelling.

And man, I'm still loving that finish by Roy.

Well, my reply was geared for the OP who insists on making nonsense threads, but I will answer both of you...

The Lakers have done repeats during 3 of their dynasties, and if you hadn't noticed, they have rebuilt. The franchise will win again, nothing indicates otherwise. Rebuilding is their history, they always have, they alwaus will. Houston also has accomplished something the Spurs haven't, won back-to-back.

Phil Jackson has coached Three threepeats. Kobe is the main cog in the wheel and the leader. He doesn't need Shaq to win a title, the rest of the team is > Shaq.

Boston could repeat this year, you can make a case for that. LA or Houston could win it all as well, and if either does, they will be a threat to win it again the following season. Maybe the Spurs can win this year, but will they be able to repeat at last? Less likely.
