He said for national argentinian tv...
"I couldn't understand I guy like him talking like that about me.Specially knowing that the are a lot of players that do awesome things every night. He must have been trying to be original".

Manu doesn't want to have any fuzzy feelings for Kobe. I like it.

Hmmm, this doesn't sound like something Manu would say. I've never seen Manu saying anything even remotely close to being this rude or disrespectful of another player. I have a feeling something got lost in the translation.

what was the question

What do you mean what was the question? Kobe was asked who is favorite player in the NBA to watch. And he said ...

My favorite player to watch is probably Manu Ginobili, just because he's so unpredictable and herky-jerky.

A few points:
The hosts of tonight’s broadcast were a bball/NBA journalist-commentator and Manu's brother himself.
Obviously the tone of the conversation (definitely not a regular interview), was relaxed and funny between ppl that know each other very well.
Manu was trying to find a logical explanation to something (Kobe's praise) that has non, from his POV. He sounded incredulous and offered, following that reasoning and in a j/k tenor, a plausible motive by saying what was posted. That Kobe was trying to be original.
As the matter of fact, Manu himself thinks/thought that there must be some misunderstanding going on here :lol

Walton > Manu

Oh yes, I forgot that Walton can't attend the All-Star game tonight because he's injured. That's a shame, Walton the all-star can't play because he's hurt...

thank you Kori for the great interview...

thank you Manu for being refreshingly humble (compared to most other me first players). I just love that Kerr said that Manu was the most genuinely appreciative all stars he ever met.

Dam we are lucky to have Maun on our team.....All other jealous posers fuck off

Should Manu be worried that Kobe likes to watch his jerky movements? [/colorado]

..I have a feeling something got lost in the translation.
The translation is OK, but Manu was polite with Kobe. He said that in a modesty way, very well surprised for Kobe comment. Is like an excuse "I don't deserve that huge comment"

You are Right
When he talk to the National TV in Argentina, he never say that
He said like is a Honor, and Never talk in bad words of Kobe
Manu all the Weekend was very happy, so is impossible the Manu say that

I saw the Game in National Argentinien TV
His Big Brother join the transmision and make some comments

I agree with Whottt. I think the translation was lame. I live in Brazil and have to suffer through the angst of occasionally reading subtitles of movies or TV programs and wanting to pull hair out over the jargon lost in translation...I'm like, we Americans are way cooler than that! I think that translation was done half-assed. Sounds like someone ran that Manu interview through Babelfish, Globalink or something!

The translation was perfect. The problem was I forgot to talk about the context (he WAS KIDDING FOR GOD SAKE!)

"He must have been trying to be original"

That doesn't make much sense, in the context.

The "original" sounds like a "faux amis". The equivalent of "original" in Spanish doesn't have exactly the same meaning(s) as original in English.
