Shrewd off-season by Pop and R.C. It's clear that you need slow, wily veterans, not athletes, to succeed in this league :tu

Game by game those 3 guys find a way to play worst.

I saw very few in here who did not want Thomas re signed when he was re-signed.
Guys like T Park said he was a great trade acquisition.

This team won't be winning a title this year with the front court as it is now.

The league has not been changing. Athleticism is not required. Youth is a detriment.

blah blah blah

Its obvious the Spurs need length and youth. The most discouraging to me is Kurt Thomas. The effort appears lacking and he is NOT rebounding the ball. Bonner just plain sucks and I believe it is 90% mental with him.

Finley was weak last year and his 3pt shooting is atrocious. Finley really doesn't deserve to be on the court.

Seriously...

I'd love to have Watkins on the squad at this point. Yeah, he's a project, but at least he can play D and rebound.

I don't mind Thomas being around as long as we have a young energetic big to get some run too (guess that will be Ian if he ever gets healthy).

Sent Gist to friggin' Europe for a year while we bring back Finley and waive Barry.

Keeping Bonner around is just fucking dumb.

Stupid.

I agree. I don't know why they did not keep Gist on the roster. He looked good in summer league. He had quickness and athleticism and upside potential unlike the guys they decided to keep.

Ok, Matt Bonner just flat out sucks....Im not even gonna try to make an excuse for him...but Thomas should have come back...he just needs to prove it.

I was one of the few who hated giving up a first rounder for Thomas.

And I've hated Bonner for a long, long time.

I was one of those who didn't want Thomas re-signed.

I also said I'd rather the Spurs roll the dice with Hairston rather than re-sign Finley.

I also laughed at the ridiculous signing of Bonner, still mindboggling.

And one of quite a few people who had a clue that the Spurs were fools for not signing Scola.

These 3 players would be #10, #11 and #12 off the bench on most teams.

Hold on, that's not fair.

Bonner would be on the IR.

and in case anyone forgets:

Bonner, Finley, Thomas = all signed through 2010.

Enjoy watching the wasting of Duncan's last prime years.

I was not high on Thomas. I saw an aging slow robotic player who would just get into foul trouble because he couldn't keep up with the quicker younger players.

One of the cannier league front offices turned into one of the worst.

What bothers me is Thomas looks absolutely unmotivated out there.

Careful, you might throw your shoulder out patting yourself on the back.

Quit being such a drama queen, this entire forum was pissed over us letting Scola go.

And Bonner's been a running forum joke the whole time.

no drama and not giving myself credit or back-patting.

Just pointing out to any front-office excuse makers who would like to claim that no one complained or could have foreseen any one move as being a bad one that even a layperson forum random guy like me was able to see it. Anyone with the ability to use reasoning could have seen it. Even clowns like me. That means there are no excuses for the front office leaving the cupboard so bare.

And Bonner hasn't been enough of a running joke.

Wasn't Bonner re-signed to be our token white guy?

He's a thinly veiled marketing scheme.

Signing Thomas didn't cut into any of the exceptions, so it was a no-brainer. Giving him 2 years looks pretty dumb now though.

As long as Shaq is in the west I don't have a problem with us having Thomas around to bang with him in the low block.

Bonner and Finley are suck ass signings. Gist would be on this roster right now if it weren't for Pop's mancrush on Fin.

Even the most blinded, dimwitted homer could see from last playoffs that re-signing those guys was a mistake.

If they didn't help us last year, did you think another year of age was going to reinvigorate their careers?!?

P.S.

Brent Barry looks spry as ever with the Rockets.

Still down on Artest everyone?

lol good stuff. I didn't know T Park said that. I just think he agree with whatever the front office does at all times.

Without Thomas last year, the Spurs probably don't get out of the first round.

He has been injured like a lot of these guys so far. This is starting to look like the 2007 Miami Heat around here.
