damn...u beat me to it. we need to make a run at him. having him at PF next to Timmy would be nice. i think he goes back to Detroit though I don't know why since their frontcourt if full with johnson, sheed and maxiell.

I don't think we'd want him off waivers - we'd have to pick up his 6.8 million salary for this year and 7 mil for next year.
We'd want him to clear and then come here for whatever we have to offer.

base - it would fit the 2010 plan, but would put us over the lux tax this year, no way would Holt Cat do that!

McDyess can't help the team now. Tony is hurt. Manu is hurt. Now rebounding is not the only problem but scoring is crucial. This team looks like a lottery team. Wow, I can't see the season being savaged in the West the way we're playing. Now with the best backcourt in basketball gone and one of the worst benches in the league, it's almost over. Unless someone other than Tim and Mason can step up (which I doubt due the the nature of these guys abilities) then this season is a wash. Lots of contracts to get rid of and guys to look at for next season. Who's a free agent this summer ( someone we can use) ?

With Duncan carrying, all by himself the Spurs now, (and Finley, Vaughn, et al dragging him down), it'll be a scary thought that by the time every team starts getting into the game seriously, Tim will be gassed out, worse, and heaven forbid, he injures himself trying to haul his pathetic teammates, (and losing) game after game after game.
Timmy is at the wrong side of the 30s. :(

Rasho is the embodiment of my hatred for the front office.
He was the player we passed on deals and cleared cap space for in 2003.
He is who we kept in spite of re-signing S. Jackson.
He is what happens when you don't put a star player in the front office's lap through the draft.

There's a reason why Dice was on the bench and then sent as fodder in the Billups trade. And it's odd that the Nuggets, with Centers "Birdman" and Nene are waiving Dice instead of keeping him.

The Spurs have $67 million committed for next season. The salary cap was $58.7 million this year, and will likely drop next season with the lower level of disposable income everyone is going to have for tickets, jerseys, and so on that contribute to the BRI (basketball-related income) that directly determines the cap.

they're going to have to do something because I suspect Udoka, Finley and Vaughn will not be back. Bonner will be shopped to anyone looking for a expiring contract. Spurs will have a nice first rounder looks like now to either trade or use in the draft. Gist maybe ready to join the team, Ian will be under Tim for a full season learning. I guess Hairston will be back depending on his performance in the D Laegue. Farmer maybe waived sooner than later.

Mercer's contract was an expiring contract. Plus he was a headcase who nobody liked. Pop likes Finley and Bonner could still be forced into action if Tolliver doesn't pan out and KT and Oberto continue to look done.

Before the Parker injury, I was all for bringing in Mcdyess since he would help what this team lacked most...interior defense and rebounding. Now, with Tony out about a month, it's hard to see the point of it. Plus, I'm sure Mcdyess sees the shape this team is in, why would he want to come here and waste away on such a depleted unit?

according to ghost - she says we were lucky in the first place b/c we had a lottery pick to get Duncan. It's pretty damn annoying to hear from one person that always dogs the Spurs and their FO and yet calls herself a fan. It's pretty damn easy to second guess a FO, but at the end of the day you can't change their success. Try all you want and make whatever lame ass excuses for how they could have done this or that, but the fact remains that they are one of the most successful FO's in the NBA. Deal with it or choose another team to bitch about.

For all the well-documented financial benefits in the long term for Detroit, acquiring Allen Iverson will be somewhat costly for the Pistons this season.
Before the trade, Denver was $7.1 million over the luxury-tax threshold of $71.15 million and Detroit was $2.1 million below. The Nuggets' projected tax bill for this season now rests at $4.8 million, but the Pistons have suddenly nudged $131,336 over the tax line, with no easy way to get under because they're carrying 13 guaranteed contracts and are expected to soon re-sign Antonio McDyess.
If that's where the Pistons stay, they will have to forfeit the estimated $3.4 million tax rebate paid to all teams which land under the luxury-tax line as of June 30, 2009, which is the date used by the league to calculate each team's tax bill for the 2008-09 season.
NBA front-office sources reiterated Friday that it would be a seismic shock at this point if McDyess didn't return to the Pistons, even though roughly half the league has registered interest in signing him once he becomes a free agent. "Dice only wants to play in Detroit," one source said, upholding what we reported from the start Monday.

Sorry, didn't quote that part, I figured Spur fans would know about that part:
One last note here: Don't forget that McDyess, assuming he clears waivers, will will have to resist other offers for 30 days from the time the buyout is completed before rejoining the Pistons, as seen last season with Brent Barry going back to San Antonio after the Spurs dealt him to Seattle for Kurt Thomas in February.

Did anyone else read this rumor?
Spurs to deal for Knicks Eddy Curry?
One such team could be the San Antonio Spurs, who have a history of making trades with the Knicks and desperately need additional scoring. The feeling is that by playing alongside Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, Eddy Curry could resurrect his career under Spurs coach Greg Popovich. One major stumbling block is that the Spurs may not have enough assets to satisfy the Warriors in a three-way move. -- NY Daily News

Regarding Eddy Curry, here's the first paragraph of John Hollinger's scouting report:
Curry might be the single worst defensive center in basketball. He jogs back on defense and is easily beaten down court by opposing centers, even after made baskets. In the half court he rarely helps and often doesn't even turn his head to see who's breezing past him for a deuce. New York's already abominable defense was a whopping 6.2 points per 48 minutes worse with Curry on the floor.
Translation: Curry will NEVER play for the Spurs.

rumer here in LA is kupchak might go after him. lakers only have 14 players on their roster and have the MLE as well as the Minimum to throw at mcdyess. Mcdyess probably has the best chance at a ring with the lakers and would fit perfectly in the triangle with his jumper and Defense

Yes, once he clears waivers. While he's on waivers a team can pick him up but they get the full contract thus the team has to be under the cap to fit it in. Someone mentioned picking him up off waivers.

So you were a fan of Sheed during the massacre of 2004 that ENDED the Shaq era in Los Angeles? I highly doubt you were this generous to Piston fans that summer considering what took effect.
You'd rather see the Pistons in the finals because:
a. You want revenge from 2004
b. You think the Pistons would be easier than the Celtics
c. You think the Pistons stand the best chance at beating LA
The obvious answer is b.
In terms of me fucking off, you first Laker fan. This bullshit act you are pulling is so fucking obvious. I've meet motherfuckers like yourself who have tried to pull off that act of being all badass with Piston fans in 2004. They were more intimated of the Pacers and felt the Pistons wouldn't be a series to be worried about. So they start becoming all nice and generous to us. Then after game 1 and especially games 3,4,5 of the finals, they are cussing up a storm yelling "fuck the Pistons" and showed their true colors of being haters. The fact that the Pistons werent that nice little team that would be a 5-6 game series win for the Lakers set those fans off for a shocker.
