I dont understand Utah's reasoning for that trade.

Vlade Divac and Devian George?!?!!?

Lakers starting 5

Mihm
Boozer
Odom
Bryant
Atkins.

Thanks Utah, you officially put the Lakers into the playoffs and make them a top 6 team probobly.

If Kobe Bryant had brain one, hed share the ball with Odom and Boozer, and they would become IMO a pretty damn good team.

Thats some serious startive 5 talent.

Someone please tell me that Utah isn't this stupid. I didn't realize they had hired Scott Layden to run their team.

BTW

Butler
Divac and George make 14 mill a year???

I understand Butler has a rookie contract, but how much did he give George and Divac for godsake.

Utah, you make this trade, your in the lottery for the next 5 years numbnutses.

Aggie Hoopsfan
02-20-2005, 03:33 AM
Butler + Divac + George = 11.5 million
Boozer = 10.9 million

*gulp*

Shit, if that's all it takes RC needs to call the Jizz - Rasho + Devin + filler...

T Park

Rasho + Devin + WTF cares,

That's as empty a rumor as the one circulating that Vince Carter wants to be traded back to the Raptors.
Silly! Silly!
We're at a point in the season where teams are not that desperate to trade. They've made their beds and are going to lie in them - after a whole lot of thumping the pillows.
The Spurs don't need to go changing anything. What is it with you guys? Isn't first place in the NBA good enough for you?
Can anybody just say, "Go! Spurs! Go!"? Geez, I can...

That would be a stupid trade for Utah. I think Larry Miller and Jerry Salon are smarter than that.

T Park
02-20-2005, 03:45 AM
I disagree.

If Utah hangs onto Boozer, and makes it through this year, they would be a playoff team next year.

You guys forget, how good Utah was when they were healthy and playing together.

Arroyo and injuries fucked the Jazz up.

If they trade Boozer, they are officially done.

If they were to make the playoffs it would be an 7th/8th seed at best, and Okur is pretty decent at the same position, I think the jazz would be smart to make a trade to get a young guard who can score

It's a trade rumor going around LA right now, Mitch is anxious to make a deal and has even called the Kings (though word there is that they hung up on him). Look for something to happen today or tomorrow (hopefully).

Doesn't make a ton of sense for Utah unless Devean and Divac waive their options for next season.

Fat chance.

There have got to be much better deals out there. I don't doubt that the Lakers made the offer, but I don't doubt that any Boozer negotiations begin with Odom and go up from there.

Wow. LA is freaking raping Utah in that deal. Boozer is exactly the kind of player that team needs.

Utah gave Ostertag $38 million. Case closed.

Boozer is an upgrade over what they got but it doesn't help them come playoff time. Boozer is just a bigger, stronger Malik Rose with better hands and younger legs.

It may be enough to get them to the playoffs but it won't be enough to get them past the elite teams. If the Lakers always want to just make the playoffs year-after-year, they can stand pat with this trade and the team that comes of it. They will be in cap hell for sometime and have just exceptions to get free agents.

if they trade boozer jazz will never get a fa to sign with them

if lakers do not trade odom or kobe for boozer
then they have 3 really good players
spurs have three really good players now
the advantage spurs have is they played together

3 fucking players does not a team make. When you going to stop being so damn simplistic and understand that it takes a team believing in the style of ball that they play and sticking to that style no matter what?
That is what the Spurs do year-after-year, they get people to stick to the system and understand that they don't need to field the best players at every position, they just have to field the ones that best fit the defined roles that Pop & RC require. Having TP, Tony, & Tim isn't enough to win just like having Kobe, Lamar, & Carlos ain't enough.
Learn from what Kevin McHale has said in the past-

"Everybody says you have to acquire the most talent, but they've got it ass-backwards," says Kevin McHale. "You can have all the talent, and it doesn't mean anything if you don't play the right way."
Recognize Ducks. The Lakers haven't played the right way the whole season, and their record reflects that.

I know it takes more then three players

people need to think though if lakers do not give up odom for boozer
and they GEL AND PLAY AS A team they will be a threat

kobe is still a great player

You must not watch enough Laker Games Ducks.

The problem with the Lakers is that both Odom & Bryant need the ball to be effective. When Bryant has gone off, Odom doesn't. When Bryant got injured, then Odom was free and clear and able to get big numbers. For them to gel, they need a system, they need a coach who commands the respect to put players where they need to go. And when you say threat, what do you mean? If you mean championship threat, I say hell no. They need to get a defensive minded point guard with some penetration skills, they need a primary shot-blocker-Boozer can't give you that, and moving Odom to the 3 takes him out of the paint. Whatever happens, if THIS is the only move they make, then there won't be any parades on Figueroa during Kobe's contract length.

odom and kobe are in their first year playing together
they have just played half the season

they have to learn where they want the ball

Reason Utah goes for the deal? Miller. He has to pay AK big money starting next year, along with Okur, plus their draft picks. They do believe AK is better at the 4 than 3 and Sloan likes both Butler and George. Vlade can be bought out after the season for next year, LA would probably send 3 mil in the deal to get it done.

Aggie Hoopsfan
02-20-2005, 08:31 PM
It's dumb. Why would Utah spend the money this year for Boozer, then turn around and dump him? They knew what they were getting into.

I think it's Laker fan hot air, especially seeings where it came from (ESPN board). Utah would have to get Odom for them to even talk about sending over a guy like Boozer.

02-20-2005, 08:35 PM
Reason's probably Miller but not that AK's money's coming on board but more likely that now that Boozer got his payday he's reverting back to his underachieving Duke days that made him a second rounder to begin with. His play and his intensity has fallen off as the season has progressed.

hot off rumor press = trade is off????????

No Boozer trade? Miller and Jazz GM deny it (apparently a Boozer/Harpring for Odom/Butler trade). First they've heard of it. Miller went on air in Utah minutes before Haley.

Quote:

jazzmeister05:
The Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller was jsut on the local sports how on TV. He was asked if there was any truth to the Boozer rumor and he said they first time he heard about it was when he read it in the paper this morning. Then he said he called Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor (who is in Denver) and asked him. O'Connor said he had know clue about it and that he had talked to Kupchak the day before at a owners meeting.

The truth is there is no truth to these rumors. I don't know where it started but Boozer is staying here in Utah. Looks liek Jack Haley will be losing his job after all.

It's saddening to see all of this speculation over it and it not to happen.

Bottom line nothing but a rumor gone too far.

This is just off the press from www.lakersground.net,

Sound like the Fakers cannot even do trade rumors right these days?????
