1) Isn't it the Treasury Department that did this?
2) Aren't tax cuts good a good thing?

Aggie still trying to peg REPUG PAULSEN's bailout on Congressional Dems.
As the article said, Section 382 had been the target of conservatives and Repugs for its entire 22-year life, and was apparently unknown to Congress. (don't at least staffers or somebody read the damn legislation?)
Paulsen is executing Naomi Wolfe's "shock capitalism", the capitalist-induced economic crisis, to subsidize the capitalists with taxpayer $$$.
As duyba's inane tax-cut slogan said:
"It's YOUR Money"
... that we Repugs/capitalists/conservatives are stealing. :lol

Not to start a new Repugs-pillaging-Treasury thread:
A.I.G. May Get More in Bailout
The Bush administration was overhauling its rescue of the American International Group (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/business/companies/american_international_group/index.html?inline=nyt-org) on Sunday night, according to people involved in the deal, amid signs that the interest on its current credit line of more than $100 billion was putting too much strain on the ailing insurer.
The Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/organizations/f/federal_reserve_system/index.html?inline=nyt-org) were near a deal to abandon the initial bailout plan (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/c/credit_crisis/bailout_plan/index.html?inline=nyt-classifier) and invest another $40 billion in the company, these people said. The government created an $85 billion emergency credit line in September to keep A.I.G. from toppling and added $38 billion more in early October when it became clear that the original amount was not enough.
When the restructured deal is complete, taxpayers will have invested and lent a total of $150 billion to A.I.G., the most the government has ever directed to a single private enterprise. It is a stark reversal of the government’s assurance that its earlier moves had stabilized A.I.G.

(http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/10/business/economy/10aig.html?sq=A.I.g.&st=cse&scp=1&pagewanted=print) ======
Paulsen and his Goldman cronies do, or doe not, know WTF they're doing, but they don't fucking care because they can just keep pillaging taxpaxer dollars to subsidize capitalist, criminal cronies.

Hey fucktard. The Dems are in control of Congress, but were unwilling to step up to the plate to fight this for fear of being blamed for a worsening in the economy.
Both parties fucked up on this, both sold us all out. When will you get a fucking clue this isn't a (R) or (D) thing? All the assholes in D.C. don't give a shit about any of us here in America any more.
Damn get a fucking clue.

"Dems are in control of Congress,"
100+ blocking Senate filibusers by the Repugs in less than 2 years, GFY.
The bailout is a Repug/Paulsen initiative AND execution. The wimpy Dems went along with it, like they did for the Iraq war-for-oil. The huge fault of the Dems is/was assuming the Repugs would actually govern these activities with competence and good will.

Actually they do give a shit about people in America. Just not you..or me. They give a shit about their constituents and the people that finance their campaigns.
Those are the real Americans.
