LOL the rookie Hill did a superior job starting to what Jacque is doing now.

What the fuck was Pop thinking singning scrubs like Vaughn and giving him a player option in his contract?

HarlemHeat37
11-11-2008, 09:11 PM
solid start..we're missing A LOT of easy shots, but the defense is there, and that's all I ask for..shooting is never a guarantee, but defense should be..

hopefully Tim can end this drought and carry us offensively..they've already been doubling him to start, we just need to start making..Ime has missed way too many open jumpers so far..hopefully Mason can get hot, since he's a streak shooter..

D'Antoni to Pop

"You're Old Mother Hubbard and only Vaughn's in the cupboard"

I swear he sucks. I wish he would just stop shooting. Maybe he is trying to build a new house for Habitat for Humanity with all those bricks.

Finley, needs to be benched. He seems to always shoot better once he gets benched. He is playing so much better tonight.

I am loving me some Tolliver. He is unselfish, a solid passer, is shooting ok, and isn't afraid to crash the glass. I love how he looks to set up Timmy for easy looks when the two are on the floor together.

25-23, Knicks up by 2.

If Tolliver can show that he can hit the 3 pointer consistently, Bonner will almost definitely be shipped by the trade deadline.

Pop doesn't need to give Hill and Vaughn equal minutes. If Mason isn't going to play any PG, then it needs to be 32 minutes for Hill, 16 minutes for Vaughn.

Knicks 33, Spurs 30, 4:44 left in the first half.

Spurs hanging tight despite shooting very poorly. In past years, I would always consider this a good sign. Typically the Spurs would pick it up in the second half and get the win.

Hopefully someone can start hitting 3 pointers at some point. They can't be gun-shy, though- gotta keep shooting.

First half thoughts:

I really like the unit that started the game. They brought good energy and matched up well with the Knicks lineup. We have had a TON of good looks that could have added up to a double digit lead. The defensive effort was like night and day compared to how we have been playing. Rotations have been solid and Tim is not quite all the way there but looks much better. We need to be more aggressive going to the rim. I think Mason could be going stronger to the rack. He has been a bit passive and against this team he should be attacking the rim like crazy. With all the open 3's, we might as well give Farmer some burn in the second half. His aggressive scoring style would be good also.

Besides the missed 3's, its been a good effort overall. Most of the mistakes that have been made are a result of players that are not yet accustomed to each other. I look forward to seeing these guys continue to play together and develop the cohesion that will make them a vital part of this team as we get deeper into the season.

how the hell does Duncan look bad defensively? he's only had 1 bad play..he's rotated well on every play he was supposed to, he's contesting shots..Randolph is a good player too, Duncan is fine right now..

Pop needs to realize that Tim needs to play big minutes if we want to go anywhere..so we'll see if he plays him as much as he should in the 2nd half..

Got to like the effort so far.:tu

Mason and Vaughn's floor game is leaving a lot to be desired, but if the role players could develop Tolliver's lack of concious and shoot the open shots in rhythm? They might just put a good run together.

Props to Sean on the miniature plastic man reference he made about Hill.:toast I'm sure there's a good nickname that could come from that, but it hasn't hit me yet.

Got to love how Timmy shaves the beard, the team ditches the black kicks, and Pop takes Bowen from the starting line up. Whatever it takes to break a bad streak I guess.:lol

for those watching the game: How does Tolliver's D look!?

He doesn't seem to be crashing the boards as he should

decent..he's active, but he missed a few rotations and he didn't close out on Lee properly on 1 or 2 plays..

his rebounding is just lack of timing..he's very active going for them, but he didn't time 2 or 3 of them well..

yea but he also needs to keep Tim healthy it's a quite difficult balance to find.

I think some of this is a comfort thing. He seems to have good instincts but needs minutes to get acclimated. He will get plenty of those over the next 10 games.

Pop took him out to tell him something important about how to handle the pick and roll on offense. I like it. They did something similar with Ian during the summer league on a consistent basis.
