this is going to be a huge test for the lakers. back to back against an arguably their stiffest competition in the west. should be fun to watch!

Hornets should be on national TV more. Chris Paul is probably my favorite player in the league, right now.

Even Rockets/Suns isnt as appealing as Lakers/Hornets.

Once again, the NBA drops the ball when it comes to national tv.

Sorry Hornet fans, but your team is too thin to play against the Lakers.

I suspect Phil's gonna go in early to Pau/Bynum to try and get foul trouble on Chandler/West early. 6'9 David West will have his hands full guarding 7'0 Pau, he'll need alot of help defense from Tyson, leaving Bynum open.

Expect foul hindered minutes from the 2 Hornet Bigs, and a massively negative +/- when Hilton Armstrong/Melvin Ely/JuJu comes in.

son there is no doubt that the Lakers are arguably the toughest challenge in the west this year, but don't doubt the Hornets. Keep in mind that we went 2-2 against the Lakers last year and nearly came back and won that final 4th game after being down by 30 plus points ... oh and that was all without having James Posey on the bench.

Sorry son, last year there was only Pau so Chandler could take him. Now it's Pau & Bynum. No way a small power forward like DWest can guard either one by himself.

Tyson Chandler and David West are great, but their backups are very bad. Get Ty and West in foul trouble and it's lights out in the bayou.

James Posey and DWest can't guard Pau/Bynum/Mihm, and that's the chink in the armor where the Lakers will attack.

The only chance I think of this happening is if the Hornets trade for another big. Dice sounds like a great fit in New Orleans if you can lure him there.

I think the Center/PF backup positions have been overlooked by the Hornets for whatever reason and I think that is a major problem for them. Hornets go from 2 All Star type guys to D-league players at the Center/PF position.

Look at your 2 losses this year, both of them came with Chandler/West in foul trouble.

I don't agree with that at all. Armstrong is slowly, but steadily developing as a good backup big man. I think our only problem is our backup PG situation. Mike James is pure shit ....

Armstrong's improved this year, for sure but he's nowhere close to being an NBA player right now. I think Armstrong should be in the D-League, he makes Chris Mihm look like an All Star.

You remember when Laker fans were dieing to pick up Mike James? :)

BRHornet45
11-12-2008, 02:37 PM
:toast

a lot of Hornets fans hated Jannero Pargo last season which annoyed me. you either loved him or you hated him, but I think he was a wonderful spark coming off of the bench. He had some flaws of course, but he knew how to control the floor (unlike James). also, whenever he was "on" he would light up 15-20 points within a few minutes. I wish we could have kept him.

turiaf for president
11-12-2008, 02:40 PM
pargo was a spark plug when he was with the lakers too. def fan favorite. him and mark madsen lol.

lakers better show up in the 1st quarter because spotting teams early on is gonna bite us in the ass against a team like the hornets

I hear ya playa ... but again we had the same backup big men last year. our backup big man situation isn't why we lost in the playoffs ... our young players lack of playoff experience and Byron Scott flat out getting out coached is why we lost.

BRHornet45

I personally thought the Hornets would win the series last year. I agree that Byron Scott takes alot of the blame for that loss.

Tonight should be a great game and measuring stick for both teams.

Not really because our second unit is greedy. This should be a fun one though. .

as good as our second unit is, if you think we can continue to spot teams 1 quarter and catch up every game you are dillusional.

i dont think its going to be a continuing trend but to be consistently trailing by 10 after 1 quarter is not beneficial to the team in no way shape or form

IronMexican
11-12-2008, 03:03 PM
Thank god this game is on KCAL too. No need to look for a stream on my ps3 that never work.

turiaf for president
11-12-2008, 03:25 PM
The 80's team owned a decade doing that... down by 15 at half, and up by 10 at the end of the third. They owned the third quarter.

The threepeat team won their first title by doing that. Down by 15 with 7 or 8 minutes left to play against the Blazers, and wham!!! Its not being delusional. You cant blow everyone out no more than a boxer can knock everyone out, you have to put yourself in a position to win, and thats what this team does, and theres nothing delusional about that.

thats exactly my point. you cant expect to spot teams 10 points or more and consider that being a good position to win the game. theres no doubting the depth of the lakers but spotting 10 point leads to the opposition EVERY game, which i believe we have trailed by double digits every game except the blazers, its gonna bite us in the ass.

I expect the Hornets to take this as their most serious game. Meaning, leave their bench on the bench and have Chris Paul playing 44 - 46 minutes. Also, dont forget the two games you won last year one we didnt have Gasol or Bynum due to injury, and the first one we hadnt entirely gelled. Also, last time we played you guys with Bynum it was a 20+ point blowout. But Hornets are better now, and theyll play with even more intensity. I think Lakers lose. But if we win I see us running away with #1 in the west. I mean, who else will stop us?

Well, what's going to happen tonight? Both teams will be awaiting this eagerly. The loser won't be in bad shape. It's true it's a back-to-back for Los Angeles, but we had a good break before, The team has gotten the rust out and is ready to go. I don't think the Lakers want to fall behind big and early again.

I think Lakers will win. We have depth, the Hornets don't. All we have to make sure is one of their scrubs doesn't get a career night going and we'll be fine.

We play the Hornets again in NOLA on December 23. Then we play them twice at home in 2009, January 6 and then February 20. We can sweep their team!

Lakers need MAJOR improvement!!!

1. There is no excuse for a few of the starters to take a night off and let Kobe be Kobe and, even though you're beating teams by double digits.

2. Kobe needs improve his jumpshot... its not up to par this year as previous "MVP Season" years! , even though you're beating teams by double digits.

3. Pau and Bynum need to learn how to play better together.. maybe a few more weeks will get their game in-sync, even though you're beating teams by double digits.

4. Lamar needs to avg a double double playing 30 mins off the bench.... like his previous Laker years, even though you're beating teams by double digits.

5. The Chinese Magic Johnson needs to to play half of his potential and get stronger, build some body mass......learn the system faster......play harder in practice...earn your minutes....contribute to the laker's 2nd unit "The Bench Mob" so you can replace Luke Walton 12th spot off the bench, even though you're beating teams by double digits.

6. Sasha needs to recover faster from his ankle sprain... earn more minutes.. and play up to par like you did the previous year (Lakers gave you a HUGE contract...earn it)

7. Bynum needs to be more of an offensive force and stop being a pussy.... show us what every Laker fan was gloating about the first 4 months of the previous season

a. back door lobs..

b. your up and under going left you teasing the laker fans the previous two year....

c. going up with both arms for a rebound....

d. swinging right handed jump hook you showed the Laker fans several times last
season....

e. those fierce dunks due to your extraordinary length

f. and when the hell are we going to see the Left Handed/Right Handed within 12 feet "Sky Hook" you have been practicing the past 3 years (Kareem says your ready to use it!)

and the Lakers are still beating teams by avg of double digits.

8. Mitch needs some sucker team to take Luke Walton off our hand.. trade him for a #2 draft pick ... or trade him to Miami for Beasley (hahah.. that would be INSANE)

Lakers ran out of gas against a good team on the road. I wouldn't look too much into that 4th quarter, especially with the idiotic lineups Phil was trotting out there.

sons I just got back from the game and it was disgusting how piss poor West, Peja, and Peterson performed tonight. I'm not making excuses, but for those of you claiming that the Hornets "suck" or are not a contender 7 games into the season need to chill. we should have EASILY won this game by 10 plus points tonight. The Lakers did nothing special to beat us, we beat ourselves. however, congrats to the Lakers for picking up a nice road win and advancing to 7-0.

I am mainly disgusted with the way that David West has performed so far this season. Ever since the Spurs playoff series last year, West is a different player. He has turned into an EXTREMELY selfish player and only passes the ball whenever he knows he has fucked up repeatedly (which is normally by the 4th quarter and he has cost us countless points). Last season Chris Paul MADE David West an all star. why? because of the incredible passes to find West open for a 17 foot jumper 8 plus times every game. However, this season if you have noticed .... those 17 foot wide open jumpers are still there, but West refuses to take most of them. He has been pump faking like crazy (which never works for him) and he has been forcing absolutely ridiculous shots up while being double and triple teamed. West needs a serious attitude check as well.

Sorry to ramble on, but I am sure that others have noticed this as well. Again congrats to the Lakers, but I think you are kidding yourself if you think that the Hornets are not a contender to them .... we are just a little rusty right now. we still have 75 games left :)
