View Full Version : Bourousis Will Be Spurs Saviour

You know, we should just sign Bourousis just for the sheer fact it will shut KBP up!!!!:lmao
After we sign him and let him play, he will finally see how much he sucks, and then we can put to rest the argument that Bourosis is the savior of the SPURS franchise.:rolleyes

He is better than Splitter this year. He cannot help Spurs according to what fans here says but Splitter who is worse than him this year can help Spurs get back to championship base on what 90 percent of fans here says :rolleyes
He can at least replace Fabricio if nothing more.

He is first team Euroleague over Splitter, he is leading rebounder of Euroleague for season and he was leading scorer and rebounder of a team that made final four of Euroleague. He is almost to best Euroleague season Scola ever had and he is better than Scola was at same age.
He is MUCH superior to Oberto.

"
Piraeus' Olympiacos' aukštaūgis Ioannis Bourousis proposal received the following season match Real Madrid team, published by the Greek press.
Spanish Greek offers a three-year contract, but the I. Bourousis is willing to extend the current contract with the team.
Reported that I. Bourousiu is also interested in and the San Antonio Spurs, "Auckland" Warriors "and the Memphis" Grizzlies' Clubs.
25 years 210 cm tall striker this season in the middle played 22 Euroleague games, through, on average, spent the parquet after 21 minutes, to earn 12.5 points, 7.4 atšokusio win back the ball and carried out fruitful 0.7 transmission."

A 23-year old center who only started playing organized basketball 5 years ago after giving up on his career as a swimmer, Yiannis Bouroussis made serious enough strides this past season to earn himself a rightful spot on this list—one that he probably won’t be relinquishing anytime soon until he makes his way over.

According to greek media there are 2 proposals from the NBA to sign Ioannis Bourousis(2.10-C) in the following summer. Bourousis becomes a free-agent this summer and there have been no announcements regarding a contract renewal with Olympiakos. Another interesting fact here is that Bourousis does not have a high contract as some other playes in the team. In fact he has one of the lowest ones and the reason for that is because when he first signed with Olympiakos he wasn't as good as he is now.
The 2 teams interested to sign Bourousis are San Antonio and Miami. Miami is also prepared to guarantee his playing time in order to make the offer more appealing. The general consensus in Greece is that Olympiakos will have the first word about Bourousis. The player and his agent know that the Aggelopoulos brothers are generous enough to make his decision quite easy if it comes to money. The fact remains that Bourousis will make a lot more money playing for Olympiakos or any other european team than playing for an NBA team. He averaged 12.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in 22 games in the Euroleague and he has averaged 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds in 26 games in the greek A1 league so far including the play-offs.

Yes Morey went to Greece and met him before as we already know. But no reports of offers in stories now from Rockets. Why is this? With Mutombo retire and Yao always get injured and needs to play less minutes how come Rockets not want Ioannis? He can even shoot 3s and play some at PF next to Yao. He would be able to let Yao play less minutes and to start for Rockets if Yao get injure. Plus unlike Hayes is true 7 foot guy. It is very odd why Rockets did not offer contract (at least it look that way now) after they had meeting.

I'm from Greece too.
I don't know if Bourousis is better than Splitter but they are both realy good players.
Bourousis could become a realy good prospect for the NBA, but not a great one.
He will be by far better than Bonner as a starter next year if he deicides to play for Spurs. He could be like Omberto in his prime.
He is a great defender and a good shooter from outside.
I doubt that he will ever have Kaman's numbers but for sure he is already better than a lot other Europeans.
Bourousis > Mark Gasol, Nenad Krstic, Rasho Nesterovic, Joakim Noah, Eric Dampier, Kwame Brown, Samuel Dalembert, Haywood(those 8 players are startes in NBA teams)

I find the Hollinger Euroleague formula for NBA
Here is Ioannis Bourousis NBA stats per 36 minutes base on this formula. And remember Spurs fans was saying it was a lie because it predict Scola will get more rebounds in NBA than in Euroleague. You learn lesson already on that of how much easier it is to get rebounds in NBA.
Here is Bourousis Hollinger stats for NBA at 36 minutes this is what he would be predict to do in NBA if he play 36 minutes (3 quarters) you can use formula for 40 minutes or 36 I use 36 because Spurs do not play players that much.
52.0% FG
15.8 points
14.8 rebounds
1.5 assists
1.2 steals
0.8 blocks

WTF? This is Euroleague to NBA. It has nothing to do with changing NBA stats per minute for NBA players. This board said his stats were a lie because it predicted Scola will get 8-10 rebounds possibly with big play time in NBA. Fans here all said it was crazy and "stupid" because he only average 5 in Europe.

Oh I do know very well what this is. You get a guy who averages 10 pts and 6 rebs in 20 mins in Europe, then double his minutes and production ( how come? anyway ) and then you decrease his scoring and increase his rebounding rate, then you claim these are his projected NBA stats per 40 mins, which is absolutely pointless and has nothing to do with reality, which I'm going to prove using your own link.
Let's get a guy like Ersan Ilyasova, who is relatively known, because he's been in the NBA. Ilyasova has averaged 11.2 pts and 7.3 reb in 21.7 min in Euroleague play this season , which translates to 15.2 pts and 15.9 reb (!) per 40 mins in the NBA under the Hollinger formula. This information is directly from the article you've posted, so you can't deny it.
Now, according to this formula you've applied for Bourousis, Ilyasova looks like an equal player to him, yet you've only overhyped Bourousis? How come you haven't mentioned Ilyasova as well as a viable option? We all know what Ilyasova did in the NBA, and while he might have improved a bit in Spain, nobody would take his projected numbers seriously.
You can't possibly believe Bourousis would average 14.8 rebs in the NBA, so calling me stupid or whatever is fine, but there are people on this board who are very knowledgeable and who are getting tired of your baseless, pointless, linkless drivel.

Anyway as can see his only weak area in stats is free throws.

Well my friend, if you are calling upon people to lets stop all the insults, it would be a good move to start doing it yourself too. No matter what their responses are. If you drop the insults, thats a good thing, others will probably follow and you dont rub people in the wrong way anymore with your insults, so they will stop too.

Splitter

2 assists
Bourousis

2 assists
And the reason Bourousis played less minutes is because his team kicked Splitter's team asses and they were playing the bench for much of the game. Pargo, Erceg, Vougioukas were getting playing time because the game was well in hand by Olympiacos. In a close game they would probably not even play at all. So how many more lies can you tell? Game recap tells another story. Key quote:
Olympiacos took a lead in the game's fifth minute and refused to let go of it when Tau rallied to within a point with 4 minutes to play.

You don't know WTF you are talking about. I watched this game. It was not a close game. And the fact is how players like Pargo and Vougioukas and Erceg were playing. Olympiacos had the game under control for most of game. And so what if TAU rallied? Wow they rallied and lost by 8 points. Wow they rallied against the bench players. Then the starters came back at the very end and again dominated and won by 8.

From the game link posted
Back-to-back steals by Josh Childress and Theodoros Papaloukes ended up with Olympiacos scoring easy layups to raise its advantage to double digits, 23-32, soon after second quarter tipped off. Tau groped for answers as 2 free throws by Childress and a three-pointer by Greer pushed the Olympiacos lead to 12 points, 25-37, after 13 minutes. Tau coach Dusko Ivanovic called for an urgent timeout, but his team couldn’t find the balance on offense, spending more possessions without points. Olympiacos kept adding to its lead as Vasilopoulos and Vujcic scored to make it a 16-point game, 25-41, midway through the second period. Vlado Ilievski and Teletovic kept the hosts in the game as Olympiacos went through a short offensive crisis. Splitter hit a hook shot at 31-43 with 3 minutes left until halftime, but Halperin needed only one shot to restore the Reds at 31-46. Nerves took over at the home side, as Prigioni had to be benched after committing his second and third fouls in less than a minute before Pargo drilled another triple from the corner as Olympiacos skated into the break with a crowd-silencing 37-51 advantage.
Theo Papaloukas - OlympiacosMickeal kept leading Tau after the break, but his efforts had little return as Olympiacos found Vujcic and Papaloukas to run the show. A great assist by Papaloukas turned into a basket-plus-free throw for Childress that increased visitors’ margin to 41-58 after 24 minutes. The situation seemed to be critical for Tau, but Vidal emerged to hit back-to-back triples, followed by a short jumper in less than a minute to awake the home fans and reduce the gap to only 9 points, 49-58, forcing a timeout by Olympiacos. Another three-pointer, by Teletovic, made it a six-point game right after that, but Bourousis and Halperin quickly came to the rescue to restore the Reds' double-digit advantage at 52-63 after 27 minutes. Although the hosts looked ready to make a move, Olympiacos kept everything under control thanks to Vujcic, who was unstoppable in both the low and the high posts. Teletovic hit a high-bouncing triple to bring Tau within 60-67 entering the last minute, but Panagiotis Vasilopoulos replied with another bomb right after that. Will Mcdonald, with a buzzer-beater dunk, kept Tau within single digits at 62-70 after 30 minutes.
Once again LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES from some fans here. Olympiacos controlled the entire game and it was an easy win. Splitter and his team got their asses kicked badly. Olympiacos had some THIRD STRING players in. But now you are trying to make up a LIE that "Splitter dominated Bourousis" in this game. :rolleyes:lmao

The lead was 8 points entering the 4th quarter and TAU closed the gap to one point with 4 minutes left. I know European basketball is hard for Americans to understand, but that doesn't look like a game that had much garbage time. And you have now twice pointed to this supposed blowout as the reason that Pargo played. This additional quote from the recap indicates that Pargo STARTED:
Tau showed its will in the early going playing fast-tempo basketball, taking advantage of Tiago Splitter's activity in the paint. Despite Pargo opening fire for the visitors with a short fastbreak jumper, the Spaniards amassed a 7-2 lead

Are you crazy? Pargo had average of 11 minutes and even games where he did not even play at all from coach. And you can see his minutes in important games. 7, 4, 5, 11, 11, 3. He played 7 minutes in other game against TAU. He ONLY got good minutes in games that was not important or that were blow outs that is FACT.

And as you can see PARGO usually did not play. STOP POSTING LIES. This guy played 15 minutes in this game because it was a blow out. He would normally for sure NEVER play that many minutes in a big game against a team like TAU. The game was a blow out even in 2nd quarter so he did.

The game recap says that Pargo scored the first basket of the game, perhaps they are lying in the game recap. That would mean he STARTED THIS GAME. That would seem to be a fact. Perhaps the coach had a premonition of this supposed blowout and STARTED a player who usually only plays in garbage time. I really don't know why it happened, but it seems undeniable that Pargo was in the game long before the outcome was decided.
I am making no other claims about his overall level of play or how he was used by his team this season. I really could care less.

So a player that had whole games where he was benched and averaged 11 minutes is a key player? You are very foolish. He USUALLY STARTED and he averaged just 11 minutes.
Let me explain something Papaloukas ALWAYS COMES OFF THE BENCH.

You are seeing things again. I did not say he was a key player or say anything at all about the basketball talent of Jannero Pargo. As I said, I could care less. I merely pointed out that his minutes in this game can not solely be accounted for by your supposed blowout. Some of his minutes are due to the fact that he started this game. This is not my opinion, just a simple fact.
It is also a fact that Bourousis committed 4 fouls in less than 17 minutes and this must partially account for his limited minutes. Most coaches, especially a great one like Giannakis, will sit a valuable player before he fouls out so he can use him in crunch time if needed. Again, the game recap seems to bear this out.

Can you read? It was already a blow out by 2nd quarter. CAN YOU GROW BRAIN? Bourousis averages 20 minutes for the year. In Olympiacos Splitter would get no more than that.
Olympiacos >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>deeper team than TAU is. Especially in front court it is HUGE difference.
In normal game Vougioukas would not play. It was a blow out so he got to play. Bourousis otherwise would have played 21 minutes. If it was now a blow out. He AVERAGES 20. Stop pretending like Mountainballer and Bruno to know about European basketball. It is ruining this forum for when ANY European basketball discussion comes up. Olympiacos saved its biggest performance of the Euroleague season so far the Top 16 finale, invading Vitoria, Spain to deal an 80-88 home loss to Tau Ceramica, thereby stealing first place in Group E and homecourt advantage in the Quarterfinal Playoffs. Olympiacos finished with a 5-1 record and will have three home games, if necessary, against Real Madrid in the best-of-five playoff series. Tau fell to 4-2 in Group E and now, without homecourt advantage, will face Group F winner Regal FC Barcelona in the next round. Olympiacos took a lead in the game's fifth minute and refused to let go of it when Tau rallied to within a point with 4 minutes to play. Theodoros Papaloukas and Giannis Bourousis combined for a quick 7 points then and Panagiotis Vasilopoulos buried a killer triple entering the final minute to ice the victory for Olympiacos. Nikola Vujcic led the winners with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Yotam Halperin added 16 points on 4-for-5 three-point shooting, while Bourousis and Jannero Pargo scored 11 each. Mirza Teletovic led Tau with 16 points, while Tiago Splitter had 15, Sergi Vidal 14, Pete Mickeal 13 and Pablo Prigioni 12.
Tiago Splitter - Tau CeramicaTau showed its will in the early going playing fast-tempo basketball, taking advantage of Tiago Splitter's activity in the paint. Despite Pargo opening fire for the visitors with a short fastbreak jumper, the Spaniards amassed a 7-2 lead behind 5 points in a row from the Brazilian center after 2 minutes. The Reds didn’t panic, however, as Nikola Vujcic and Nikos Boroussis took over for a 7-7 tie midway through the quarter. Tau's shooters didn’t find their momentum, missing even open shots, and Olympiacos took advantage to take its first lead, 7-10, after a three-pointer by Yotam Halperim. Vujcic kept rocking inside for Olympiacos, scoring 6 points in a row that extended the visitors' edge to 10-16 after 7 minutes. Tau tried to answer through Pablo Prigioni, who hit back-to-back triples to prevent the Reds from escaping, but Halperin showed up quickly to reply with a couple of bombs of his own, making it 18-26. Only free throws by Mirza Teletovic and a monster dunk by Splitter allowed Tau to get as close as 23-28 at the end of the quarter.
Zoran Erceg restored the double-digit lead for Olympiacos with a three-pointer to open the final quarter, but the hosts didn’t surrender and found Teletovic and Spltter for easy layups. An unsportmanslike foul by Papaloukas allowed Mickeal's foul shot to make it a six-point game, 67-73, after 33 minutes. Halperin hit a jumper to kept a safe margin for Olympiacos, but not for long. Prigioni scored a nice layup, Teletovic beat the shot-clock from downtown and Vidal made an acrobatic reverse to the gap to the minimum, 74-75, the closes that Tau had been to Olympiacos since the first quarter. With 4 minutes to go, and his team struggling to hold its lead, Papaloukas stepped forward. First, he drew an offensive foul on Mickeal; then he fed Bourousis for a huge hook shot; then he pulled a defensive rebound in a crowd and went the other way to bury a triple, making it 74-80 and effectively ending Tau's threat. Papaloukas fed Bourousis again before Vasilopoulos made no doubt about it by burying an open triple from the wing at 77-85 at the start of the final minute. A free throw carousel after that served for nothing but to confirm a monster road win, first place and homecourt advantage in the playoffs for Olympiacos.

i love thomas but he's too old hes no more than a 20 minute man now
ian could be good but has not proven anything besides in the NBDL
Bourousis has played with good competition in Europe and will work well with his outside shooting with the spurs of course i don't want the spurs to break the bank for this guy or even let him start and i do hope the spurs do use bonner as trade bait
Bourouis is not better than splitter though but splitter is not that better than bourousis i say the spurs give this guy a contract for 1 year like 1 million and see what he gots
unless were getting gortat:bang or rasheed or mcdyess this guy can't do any worse than bonner IMO

Other Red news (behind the scenes) is that Giannis Bourousis (212-C-83) will be probably moving to the States and NBA, as he considers being the most 'hot deal' in Europe for teams that play the pick n roll, as the Greek center is among the best in the European courts.

Bourousaros? More like Bourousaurus.
He had a chance, a good chance, to be a Spur. He chose to use that opportunity to leverage more salary from his Greek club, which subsequently kicked him off the squad. I'm guessing that after being played by this clown, the Spurs wouldn't be too jazzed to even talk to his self-centered ass.

Talented 27 year old 280 pound 7 footers are welcome here in my book, I don't need them to be better players than Tiago Splitter, but on nights DeJuan Blair doesn't want to show up on defense against legit big men, it wouldn't hurt to have some more backup. Steve Novak and Chris Quinn have a roster spot on this team, I would think Bourousis is more talented than either of them, cut Novak and bring him in. Quinn is good to have so we don't have to give trash minutes to guys like Parker or Hill, but with Bonner back and healthy there's no point in keeping Novak around. He's like a star trash minutes player. I know a lot of you guys have a bone to pick with Bourousis, but it's not a big risk. If he doesn't work out, send his ass back to Greece.

Bourousis was kicked off of his team by his coach for a month. Rumors are that Bourousis is angry over this and that he may cancel his contract and head to the NBA.
So far, Bourousis was the most efficient player in the Euroleague per minute in stats for the year.
If the rumors are true that he might leave Olympiacos now because he is pissed off at his coach, then the Spurs should jump all over the chance to get him. He is much better than Splitter is or ever will be.
And he proved this year that he would be good for the Spurs because he outplayed Rasho Nesterovich all year long on Olympiacos, even despite playing half of the season so far with a broken right hand.
What games have you been watching? Rasho has outplayed him all season. When the game is on the line, Rasho is in the game and Bourousis is on the bench. There is a reason Rasho is playing more minutes than him. People here know how I feel about Rasho, but to be considered less clutch than him...
Bourousis:
17:31 MPG
11.1 PPG
FG% 57.3%
RPG 6.5
Rasho:
21:14 MPG
10.1 PPG
FG% 67.4%
RPG 5.4
So, he is a better rebounder than Rasho- no shock- but he shoots worse, only scoring more per game because he takes more shots per minute. Rasho is also a better defender. I would think you of all would be thrilled with how well VSpan and Rasho play together.
I would also point out that trying to make a case for a 27 year old who thinks he is a star, comparing him to an almost 35-year old Rasho is not really the way to gain credit.
Most of all, why would the Spurs want a player who got kicked off his team? You really think Pop would not be on the phone to Rasho finding out why Bourousis got kicked off the team before the Spurs would even consider him? Note to players; do not piss off your Serbian coach.
Although the club's official press release says that the player will be sidelined due to an injury and the player will be training all alone in a try to re-regulate his metabolism the rumours in Greece insist that the decision was taken solely on disciplinary grounds.
Apparently Ivkovic was disconcerted with Bourousis behaviour lately and chose this way to send the player and the rest of the squad a strong message, not taking into account even the fact that the team will be missing a key player in the crucial games against Fenerbahce and Panathinaikos.

Bourousis has better stats playing with a broken shooting hand. Ploto is a Slovene that only watches NBA.
Almost every single basket (like 90%) that Nesterovich scores is off of Spanoulis passes and drives.
Nesterovich is not doing anything but scoring layups created by Spanoulis.
Bourousis actually has his own offense that he creates for himself. Sorry, but Bourousis is much more talented than Rasho could ever dream of being and only a Slovene homer thinks otherwise.
In another thread here on this forum Ploto posted that Rash was much better on Olympiacos than Bourousis and both a Spanish and Italian member called him on it and said he was not telling the truth and that Bourousis is definitely better.
WHY DID HE KICKED OF FOR 1 MONTH?
Can you answer that question? Ivkovic is one of the most talented coach of Europe and his reputation is over the clouds. He's very similar to Popovich about discipline. Why did Bourusis punished for 1 month just before F4 qualification games?

He had his chance back in 2009 and now he's going to be 33 next season. He's on the tail end of his prime and will take a couple years to get used to the NBA. Even Scola came over at 28.

Didn't he get caught with steroids a few years back? I wanted him on the team back in 09, but he started sucking after that so we dodged a bullet. Looks like he finally matured though. Rather have him than Lorbek.

Lies! You see steroids are no thing in Greece, we eat good food, not Amerikan dog shit, you say steroids because you've never seen a true healthy man! Every Greek man very strong, people ask how? No secret, just better. Amerikan player Like Kobe done at 33, bourisisis just getting to prime. Spurs need skilled big man, not softy larmkus Aldridge, not ancient man Duncan.
