ok, here's a "what if" scenario.
if the big 12 played out like this:

tech looses to ou,
ou looses to osu,
tech wins their final game against baylor at home,
UT beats atm,

wouldn't Tech go to the big 12 championship game?

the standing would finish like this:

1. Tech 11-1
2. UT 11-1
3. OSU 10-2
4. OU 10-2

correct me if i'm wrong.

If there are only two teams with a tie then the tiebreaker is the head-to-head matchup between the teams. So if OU beats Tech and then loses, with Texas and Texas Tech both at 11-1, Tech would win the Big 12 South and play Mizzou in the Big 12 Title game.

If there are three teams with a tie then the tiebreaker is the team with the highest BCS ranking, and it's hard to tell who would be ranked highest right now if OU beats Tech this weekend. But as it stands, Tech controls their destiny. If they beat OU this weekend they are probably in the national championship game just cuz that would make their last two games against Baylor and Mizzou.

in that scenario, Tech would still have an outside chance at the title game if Bama somehow beats Florida later on.

Tech would definitely need to take care of business against Mizzou in the Big XII title game.
