I nearly shit in my depends..not really.

I think I rewinded that dunk at least six times. That fool got up!:makemyday Fin hasn't done that in a while.

He was trying to dunk on fools again later but switch to a layup.

I have always wanted Fin to drive more and use more athleticism.

Anyone else feeling really good about Fin now?

Can someone post the video?

I loved it. I was hoping that 2006 Dallas Series Mike Finley would come back. He showed a small sign of it last night and the past couple of games. I hope he keeps it up.

The dunk last night was inspiring. I'm not delusional enough to hope for it every game, but I'm glad Findog has got some hop to his step again, we're going to need him to come up big night in and night out until Manu and Tony get back.

On another note: HE HEADBUTTED THE FUCKING BALL!!!!! It does not get more manly than that. Unless of course, he impregnated another player's wife immediately after the game.

damn! if Finley can get up and jam like that, why the hell doesn't he do it more often? that shit drives me crazy.

Finley has had some really sick dunks as a Spur... I've always wanted him to drive to the basket more often, really make the most of every opportunity. I heard him saying something during the post-game coverage about how he's being told to be more aggressive... With Ginobili/Parker being the slashers more often than not, and Finey getting up there in age, it is understandable why he hangs around the perimeter and plays more towards his strength (mid-long range shooting).... but when he does throw down one of those tomahawk kinda jams, it's nice.

There's another one of him posterizing a Blazer a season or two ago (Webster, Outlaw - somebody). It's sick.

He's gotten old, but dropping some of that weight seems to have helped his leaping ability a bit...

I've always been a pro-Finley guy because he can shoot the ball (and make big shots...i.e.Game 1 of last year's playoffs against the Suns) and he's a solid pro. But, I have wondering why he doesn't drive to the basket anymore. Because the defense has to play him on the perimeter...so he could give the defense a ball fake and drive to the basket.

I know he's not 24 anymore...but it's good to see him attack the rim.

He just needs to be consistent and the Spurs need him to score 15-20 points a game while the calvary is out and to balance Tim's scoring.

I hope he can continue!!

I so pleased for Mike that dropping those pounds and coming to camp in shape, both requiring work and discpline, are paying off.

I never noticed how he prefers to jump off of two feet until watching this clip. He had to have been one of the greatest two footed leaper/dunker in his prime.

Funking nba recap didn't even have it. Like a 36 yr old Fin dinking is normal or some shit. But Dwyane gets 2 steal and dunks on the highlights, somehow a Spurs old man facial isn't good enough, but Tim's eyes-closed game winner makes the cut(and was numero uno).

i went over the same frustration today when i tried to show it to a co-worker... un-fucking real the hate we get from the gay voiced NBA daily announcer...

btw the highlights of Fin ^^^ that were posted up there were gr8! thanks for sharing... :wow

It's a combination of a lack of quickness and a lack of ball handling ability. He can still get up but it takes a perfect storm for him to get to the rim like that nowadays. On this particular dunk, Duncan spoonfed him the opportunity.

It's not a lack of effort ... on a normal half court set he's not able to drive by anyone or control his dribble in the paint.

It also hurts to do things like that as you get older, and pro athletes at that age don't recover as quickly, so they have to pace themselves. We just can't imagine how long 82 games is, and that's just the regular season. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn't be surprised to see more Finley dunks than last year, but we may not see one every game.

After a 14 year career, it's hard to understand how a player could play that long and NOT have developed a handle. But alas, it's true. We all know that Mike has evolved into strictly a jump shooter. Yet it was good to see him take the ball aggresively to the basket - for once. I agree with a previous poster in that it's unrealistic to expect this type of aggression on a regular basis. However, if he could at least drive to the cup, once or twice a game, it would help open up his offense and it would allow him to contribute when his shot isn't falling. He doesn't have to dunk, just put more pressure on the defense. He's such a superb free throw shooter that, if he gets fouled, it's still money for the Spurs.

I would rate the other dunk against the mavs that series higher than this one bc of the head butt.....but still this one was good too

There was one he had against the Spurs when he was a Mav (2003 playoffs I think) that was pretty good. He went middle and jammed one in that game and I basically thought the Mavs had won the series. It was a serious dunk.

But I think we've forgotten (maybe he's forgotten) about that style of play since he's basically a spot-up shooter in the Spurs system (not a run-and gun guy like he was on Nelly's Mavs).

Finley has exactly one dunk in his arsenal, but it is nice. Hop step, 2 foot jump, one hand smash. Even in his atlhetic prime he didn't get a lot of dunks because the man can barely dribble a basketball. But when he did dunk, they were always on somebody and vicious. One I remember particularly was for the Mavs against the Nuggets Donnell Harvey... I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere.
