Even though I usually ignore Hollinger's stuff, this stood out too much to ignore. Spurs are projected to not even make the playoffs, and the Lakers are 523 times more likely to win the championship than us.

Playoff odds are nice for stat geeks and the like. But if thinks the Spurs are not making the playoffs (especially when the Calvary comes back in mid-Dec at the latest) then he's crazy!!

I think alot of this is predicated by the slim margin of victory the Spurs have over weak teams. The Basketball schedule gods really smiled on the Spurs with a pretty easy November/December schedule. If they had gotten Portland's schedule, it would be alot uglier.

Spurs have a respectable 500 record due to a light early schedule and their only quality win was against the Rockets.

Not having Manu + Parker for almost a 1/3 of the season will do that.

When they come back, Big #2 and Big #3 will have alot of heavy lifting to do for the Spurs to make the Playoffs. And I think the Spurs will have a trade ready by the deadline.

this is bunk junk! Sure, the Spurs will win only 37 games. The worst ever w/ TD is 53 wins.

But if they stay competitve around .500 or a game or two better...I believe they will be in good shape. Outside of the Lakers & Suns everybody in the west at least has four losses. Also, you have to factor in injuries from other teams. The Spurs are not the only ones with injuries.

I know these kinds of things are great talking pieces....but the Spurs have a chance to stay competitive until the Calvary comes back and plus this time with the role players will payoff near the end of the season.

Unless....there is another major injury I believe this team will make the playoffs!!
