Damn, great line for Ian, but Malik needs to settle down. He might've cancelled out his tos, but he should be positive in that respect. Can't wait to see both playing 30-40 minutes.
Anyone have an idea about this Vipers team, and if they actually had bigs to challenge him?
Chump?

they didn't sign Watkins who is known to be a good shotblocker. So maybe they'll bring over Ian soon if he can show some of that

From what I heard in preseason, Ian is better in every way compared to Watkins. Having said that, I wash he had been called up instead of Ahearn. Or Malik. Sucks Pop only has 1 spot to fuck with, unless Bonner plays solid for a month straight, then he might waive Tolliver, since his greater athleticism cancels out his lesser range compared to Matt.

Just so you all know, if you want to watch the regular season games (especially if Ian is still there), all the regular season DLeague games will be broadcast online on NBA.com.

no one has to get cut to bring in Ian, he's already on the roster. Someone will need to be put on IR, or sent down to Austin, but that's it.

Chump?I wasn't able to go tonight, but Alton Ford is a fat bastard with some NBA experience. Kendall Dartez has been and Kurt Looby looks like he could be a quality big in the D-League. I'm definitely going to the game on Saturday.

I'm only talking about the 2 cheap spots, Farmer/Ahearn and Tolliver. I'm saying Ahearn molds into Hairston by the end of the year, and Tolliver to Watkins. Leave Watkins alone if Ian steps it up and really contributes, though. We already have one clone pair(Bolliver).

Um, no. Spurs need frontcourt help ASAP. Give him another game or 2 to get his legs and call his arse up.

You say the Spurs need help ASAP yet you say give him 2 games, why would want to wait that long then.
I say give him those 10 games to get conditioned, no need in rushing him just yet.

Why? Our frontline is the worst I've seen. Throw Mahinmi into the fire and let's see what he's made of.

Call me crazy, but I guess I just don't like the idea of losing the majority of the next 15-20 games, and missing the playoffs, because they don't want to rush anybody.
I mean, how much would that suck if they start their patented late season push to the playoffs and really got something special going, only to just miss the playoffs because of one bad stretch of games.

Okay....you're crazy.
Being out of condition leads to a larger chance of reinjury....then what? You are overracting to one loss.
The Spurs are known for not bringing players back too soon, just ask DRob, Sean, etc.
The Spurs are still right in the thick of the playoffs and it is still early in the season.
Hell in '99 we were 6-8 in a much shorter season and look what happened.

Good to see Mahinmi back in action. Pretty nice stats for the minutes played ... especially in the blocked shots department.
What stands out to me in the box score is the 15 shot attempts for Marcus Williams in 24 minutes. That's ridiculous ... especially since Hairston got two shots. Williams needs to mix in some passes.

A song just popped into my head thinking about the spurs woeful frontline.
"And here's to you, Mr Robinson, jesus loves you more than you will know...
whoah, whoah, whoah.."
Cmon Mahinmi, do your best Mr Robinson impression, and don't dissappoint.

Good find. Didn't get a chance to see it.
Be interesting if 1) He stays healthy 2) When the Spurs feel he's ready to make a jump.
My guess. Blake Ahearn was signed, will be there for a few weeks, when Parker comes back, he cuts dropped and then they bring Ian in.

No, Ian is already on the roster. But I think Ahearn will be replaced by another 10-day call up. I think we'll see Hairston get at least on 10 day contract in the next few months.

I just hope that Ian could be a defensive beast that DROB was only 5 years ago in 2003.

This team's biggest need, other than the obvious of getting the big 2 back, is help in the middle. Since it looks like the trade options out there are limited, I'm really hoping Mahinmi can come in a produce for us. As I stated during training camp, he may be the x-factor this year for the Spurs. If they can get healthy by the end of the season and he can actually team up with Duncan successfully in the post, the Spurs suddenly are a pretty strong team again.

I've seen worse, and no you don't throw him into the fire after only one preseason game.

Our frontline has pretty much been the same since DROB left but it just looks bad in comparison to the other BIGS in the west.....
Yao and scola
Shaq and Amare
Gasol and Bynum
Oden and Aldridge
West and Chandler
A good athletic big will do fine and Mahinmi COULD be our answer....

My guess. Blake Ahearn was signed, will be there for a few weeks, when Parker comes back, he cuts dropped and then they bring Ian in.
Andre Brown was just waived by Charlotte-- he's a very good rebounder and energy guy, if nothing else, and though slightly undersized for his position at 6'9", would still make the undersized Spurs bigger. I could see Ahearn getting cut with Manu and Tony ahead of schedule in their rehab, and a guy like Brown along with Mahinmi shoring up the frontline. If Duncan can't have exceptional big men around him, at least he'd be able to count on a deep rotation and not having to worry that Bonner or Oberto are tired...
So maybe the big rotation could look something like this:
Duncan 32 minutes per game
Oberto 16
Thomas 16
Mahinmi 16
Bonner 16
Brown 8
