View Full Version : What if spurs sign Marbury and McDyess

This to me looks like the best way the spurs can improve their roster without trading, since the spurs have nothing to trade other than the Big 3. Even though many spurs fans don't think Marbury is a spurs type player, I think we can put up with him for one year to help the spurs get a championship, and then let him go next year. I know some ppl might think this will hurt George Hill's development, but I don't think Hill can help us in the playoffs as much as marbury can. And there's not much needed to say about McDyess other than the spurs could really use him, since none of the bigs are helping TD right now. If the spurs were to sign these guys, they would probably cut ahearn and reassign Tolliver to the d-league, but well worth it. So with the return of a healthy TP, Manu, and Mahinmi, and the signing of Marbury and McDyess, along with a completely healthy spurs team, I think the Spurs would seriously have a good shot at winning the championship.

So Spurs Fans, what do u think of this possibility, and it is possibe? And how do u think the spurs season will turn out if we did sign Marbury and McDyess?

Marbury would help now, but when Parker and Ginobili return, you'd want to just release Marbury. I would think Marbury would realize that as well and would want to play with a team where he will definitely get consistent PT. But, who knows. I personally don't think the Spurs would benefit from taking on Marbury, particularly in the long run.

As for Dice, there's been plenty of discussion about it already, and while San Antonio is a possibility, it remains a very long shot possibility after Detroit, Cleveland, and Boston. I don't buy those Charlotte rumors. If it's about feeling comfortable and not having to move or learn new systems, McDyess will return to Detroit. If it's about the most money he can make, he'll go to Cleveland. If it's about his best chance to win a championship, he'll go to Boston. All different scenarios give other teams the edge over San Antonio. I won't say it's impossible, but I think it's very improbable.

They would have to waive 2 people to sign two people. Assigning someone to d-league does not create a roster spot.

No one can be signed to a 10-day contract yet. They are not available until January 5th (or the first business day after). After that, any player can be signed to a 10-day.

Marburys saying he would not accept one cent less for a Knicks buyout combined with Popped being an offensive moron does not seem like a good combo.

Lord knows we need scoring if these two cementheads were interesting in winning.

Marbury would be a stop-gap for 2-3 weeks. Dice would be a starter the rest of the season.

We don't need Marbury. I'd like to see McDyess, but it won't happen.

I do not think there was a great shot of him landing here anyways.

i dont understand why people would want Marbury when our backcourt is great. Hill + Mason is enough. it's our frontcourt that needs help.
