On tuesday, James Thomas, a Longhorn alumni, signs a 10-day contract with the Cavs.

Thomas had 6 points, 15 rebs and 2 blks against the Cavaliers when he was with Portland.

He impresses people in short spurts, but he's not really an NBA talent. He seems so confused on the floor most of the time. But good luck to him.

It looks like the Cavs are just finding passable guys who are warm bodies to fill Varejao's slot until he's healthy. They used Moiso there for two 10-day contracts and have now gotten Thomas on one. I'd be shocked if Thomas lasted beyond 20 days.

If it's a blowout, you might see him quite a bit.

FWD, I think you're right, simply because if you go beyond 2 10 day contracts, and the deadline for guaranteeing contracts has passed (it has), then they'd have to pay him for the rest of the year.

Do y'all know if Anderson is expected back next week or will the Cavs give Thomas a second 10-day?

He was let go by the Spurs because his work ethic was suspect. He had numerous opportunities to take extra reps in practice etc, and he just didn't do it. He almost acted like he was going to make the team from day one, so they cut him. Maybe getting cut was a good kick in the @#$ for him.

right, so unless Thomas plays out of his mind, I doubt that the Cavs will sign him to anything more than two 10-day contracts. I'd imagine they're much higher on Varejao than on anyone they can pick up from the NBDL. Moiso was okay for them and he got the door after 20 days; can't imagine Thomas won't get the same treatment.

Leroy Hurd is back in the states, btw.

saw that he's with Columbus of the NBDL. Through 8 games, he's averaging 9.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, and 2.4 apg in about 22 mpg, but shooting under 38% from the floor. He had more than 1/3 of his season's points in one game. (75 points, 26 for a high). Explosive but not consistent, perhaps?
