Was Tony a good guy all along? I just read the wikipedia rundown and I get that feeling. Can someone fill me in. I can't watch the episode online for whatever reason

Figures that the moment that Kim puts together any sort of quality effort it's while I'm flipping back and forth between 24 and How I Met Your Mother.
I really liked Tony as a villain this season and I was really sad to not see him get his man. For the first time since the first season there was a villain who was not either an Islamic terrorist or a rich, greedy old white guy. He wasn't driven by some insane high minded ideal, he wanted revenge. It was revenge by way of wildly convoluted plot, but still just good old fashioned revenge. I've gotten used to this show being heavy handed in every regard but the stuff about whose dead wife would be more ashamed was pretty good. With Tony still breathing I guess most anything's possible.
Glad to see President Taylor shipped her daughter up the river, not surprised that by the start of next season she'll be fucking her old/new Chief of Staff, still wish that entire family could be skimmed out of the gene pool.
And do they no longer need Jack's patient consent to go along with this treatment? I stepped away for just a second and suddenly Kim's there talking about how she wants to go through now that Jack's comatose.
My big prediction: thanks to his near death conversation with the dude from the mosque, everyone's favorite counter terrorist operative will convert to Islam before the start of next season. Coming next January: Day 8 starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jackbar al Bauer.

This season has been a great one for a while. I will admit, the last group of episodes have definitely slowed down, and hurt the season a bit. Same could be said for this episode. However, given the nature of the season, being basically the first half of a 48 hour story, I have to say that I don't really mind that much. The ending, while definitely not as action-packed and shocking as other finales, did its job well. It set up elements to be explored in the next season

Next season is supposed to pick up right away unlike most of the other seasons. There was usually like a year or so in between the "days". CTU is supposed to be back as well.

when Renee put her badge down on the table, it was clear that she had gone over to the "dark side" never to return. Even looking at her eyes, you could see that Renee's former sense of right and wrong is gone and all that's left is Jack's old mentality of the ends justifying the means. If Renee does return next year, I believe that she'll be the one taking on the role of the rogue agent on a misssion to save the world, and Jack will be the more rational one.

oh and Tony confronting Alan and then screaming at Jack as he was arrested was the best scene of the finale

No, the Kim and Renee shower scene that received a worldwide blackout on every television except mine was the best scene of the finale.

When I saw the previews of Jack on the table last week I at first thought that the FBI had captured him and was torturing him trying to find out information.
My prediction of how next season is going to start off, Renee and Jack are going to be a couple. Renee is going to be the former version of Jack.Jack is going to actually be the one trying to rationalize to Renee on why she should get out before it hurts everyone she cares about.

Ok, don't flame me, but I was a little bored last night! WTF
Except for when Olivia got her ass hauled off to jail. It was pretty predictable, imo. You knew Kim was going to come back and save her dad. So Renee ends up being the new "Jack? :rolleyes Meh :lol

so you figured out michelle was pregnant when she died? Yeah.............. that's what i thought

If that's true, 24 season 8 plot: The virus destroys all of Jacks memories and leaves him unable to work for the government anymore. For his service President Taylor gives him ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS (AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *inhale* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!) and grants him a few thousand acres of land to live in isolation forever.
That is, until new terrorists show up. Renee gets too close during the investigation and is taken hostage. The terrorists publicly release a video of Renee tied up and Jack sees it on the news and gets all his memories back and then comes back to kick some more ass.
Oh hollywood, so predictable.

I am predicting that he will die clean. What I mean by clean is a gun shot wound to the head where there is no question he is dead. I would hope the writers wouldn't do anything to leave question if he is dead or not, only so next season somebody could somehow find him for another mission. I think it will be early in the season too if it happens at all.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - One of "24's" favorite villains, former President Charles Logan, is coming back.
Gregory Itzin, nominated for an Emmy for his role on the Fox real-time drama, has signed for a multiepisode arc on the upcoming eighth season. The disgraced former president last was seen during Season 6 flatlining en route to a hospital after being stabbed by his wife, Martha Logan (Jean Smart).
At the opening of Season 7, FBI agent Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) told Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) that Logan was alive and under house arrest, but he never was heard from again.
In the upcoming season, sitting President Taylor (Cherry Jones) reluctantly enlists Logan to assist with an escalating international diplomatic crisis.
"The opportunity for these two remarkable actors to share the stage was simply too compelling to pass up," "24" executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon said.
The eighth season of "24" kicks off with a two-night, four-hour premiere January 17-18. Set in New York, it features a retired Bauer unwillingly drawn back into the action after learning of a plot to assassinate Middle East peacekeeper Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor).
Other new cast members include CTU rookies Katee Sackhoff, Mykelti Williamson and Freddie Prinze Jr., who join Wersching and veteran Mary Lynn Rajskub.

If you had asked me a year ago I would have said Kim, but now I'd pick Taylor hands down. While I would have loved to have seen Kim die before she could muck up seasons 2 and 3, lately she's been reduced to just ruining a few episodes every year. Last year Taylor sucked ass for 24 hours straight. She was awful in every scene which meant she single handedly shat upon about a third of the whole season. I never thought I'd be happy to hear that they were bring back the Nixon impersonator but even he'd be a welcome reprieve.
