Oberto and Udoka for Jeff Foster.

Udoka is stinking it up, he's the odd man out with Manu back.

Jeff can rebound and score.

Oberto works so well w/ Manu that he won't be going anywhere.

If Thomas' second year is a team option then send him instead.

Thomas+Udoka for Foster.

Why would Indy do it?

Both contracts would come off the books this year.

If there's any way the FO could swing a Foster trade that makes sense, I'm all for it.. I've long admired the simplicity of his game.. terrific rebounder and a strong body to battle alonside Timmy.

Does he know the New York hustle too? I prefer the three count hustle or the latin hustle.

The NBA's no place for dancing. The Spurs next international pick needs to be Stephen Chow.

If "Dancing with the Stars" wasn't during the NBA season, don't tell me Tony Parker wouldn't be all over that show.

Trade a reliable big ffor a big who plays about 20 games a year? Ahhhh.....

I think the big they should look at is Josh Boone. He can run the floor with everyone his size or bigger, tremendous shot blocker, great rebounder on both ends, and has a motor that doesn't stop running, it's constant energy on every play. I think they'd be foolish to get rid of a role player as good as Oberto. Remember when he got Bynum ejected from a game by getting under his skin? THEY NEED THAT!!!

ummm Foster can score?? Since when?

Foster can score in the way that Fab can score. Garbage points, open 12 footers, etc. He's much more talented defensively and tenacious on the boards. I'd rather give up Kurt and Udoka (and Bonner of course) because their lack of effort is just fuckin rediculous.

To use Buddy Holly's phrase, they're both "stinking it up".

I say we go after his mother Dr. Linda Foster. She was my principal in high school, and that lady looks like she could box out and bang (goddamn that sounded way dirtier than I intended).

I think Thomas signed a 2 year deal...Nice thought though, although, if possible I would rather trade vaughn/thomas

First, I doubt Pacers are interested in trading him after having signed him to an extension.
Second, eating some of the 2010 capspace for a marginal player like Foster isn't a that good idea.

You guys will be happy with Kurt Thomas by February when he starts playing at full speed and with a full effort. Remember 2007? My Suns woulda been swept if not for KT's D on Timmy. When KT isn't making as big an effort this November and because of that locks Bynum and Shaq (just kidding Shaq will light his ass up!!!) up in the playoffs, you'll see where I was coming from. Doing his job every night ain't easy, I think he's the veteran big who's been on defensively weak teams his entire career who Popovich tells, "Hey man, it's an 82 game season, we don't need defensive miracles from you for the greater part of the season like Phoenix and New York did, just make sure you're healthy and you've got a nearly full tank of gas come February where we start to take things seriously."

So you're saying K.T. is the new Horry? Remains to be seen, but still a point that I will be curious to see pan out. He was a monster with your Suns.

I would do that trade in a heartbeep, especially with how Udoka has fallen off the charts recently. Foster would provide the Spurs with the rebounding and defense that the center position hasn't seen since Robinson's last year in 2003. Also, he is a very unselfish player and (IMHO) would be content in his role here.

Foster would easily be an upgrade over Fab. Some say Fab works well with Manu. I beg to differ. Manu makes every one on the squad look better. Take Manu out of the equation and most of players dont get better or worse. Fab is Fab with or without Manu. He doest make the team better. He makes the team worse. His game belong in europe not in the NBA. The only thing Fab does is run around looking like he's busy. But look at his stats. 0-4 points per game. Less then 5 rebounds per game. Thats a piss poor effort from any center. Starter of backup. Foster would school Fab easily. Foster would help Timmy easily.

Oberto is a better ball player than people here seem to conclude. High energy, fast hands, and he plays well off Duncan. Sure, we would prefer somebody that was a bit more of an athlete, but he's a guy guy to have around!

Hate to blow your bubble but Kurt has no gas left. He lost his gas years ago. And the FO screwed us up by bringing in a old, slow, short over the hill basketball player. Kurt isnt gonna help this team, he didnt last year, he hast this year, and he wont in feb. Takes no brain surgeon to see that.

I agree. When your hopes rest on Kurt "stone legs" Thomas somehow turning the corner at age 36, then maybe it's time for a reality check.

Old stiffs don't get better as times goes on...how many times have we seen this before, and always it's the same false hopes: "Once <insert stiff here> comes back from injury, things are going to be hunky-dory."

once more: why another thread about a trade for a player, who isn't on the market. if the Pacers no longer wanted him, they wouldn't have extended his contract this summer (for 2 years). and if Foster didn't want to be a Pacer, he wouldn't have signed. he has always been there and from all what he says, he's always been happy to be there.
and if they in fact would put him on the block, for whatever reason, other teams will love to offer a better package than we can give. (like the Jazz, who tried hard to trade for him at last years dead line)
